“Great Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013

Just came back from a weeks holiday and can say one of the best holidays I have had. The staff at the hotel are so hospitable and friendly and will always help. The room was as in the picture, clean and everything we needed. The sea does have a strong current but this can't be controlled by the hotel, but was excellent on the calm days. We enjoyed it so much we plan to go again next year. The location is good not too loud and only a short bus/taxi trip from the harbour. There was always something you would enjoy to eat and as I was holidaying with my 11 year old daughter who can be a fussy eater at times we never went hungry, I would say this is a good hotel for families we had a great time.

Went as a family of four...5 yr old and 3 yr old.Firstly the cons, not many really: food not brilliant but perfectly acceptable, and if you travel to the harbour you'll find the food of similar if not worse quality. The hotel in need of a bit of an upgrade and that includes some of the staff. The all inclusive was not quite that as they excluded ice creams and slushes which was a bit mean. And they didn't have free wi if which again is simply outdated in this day and age. The nightly entertainment also not the most inspiring.

Now the pros: great views, great bar views, very good waiting staff genuinely friendly. In Desy they have an absolute gem, great kids entertainer, they loved her, did the evening quizzes too, was the beating heart of the hotel. With more younger staff of her ilk with her drive and energy the place will be even better. The overall vibe of the place is great. The pol area superb,no problems with pool chairs or parasols. Kids club you can bob in and out and Maria great with kids too. Beach is basic but good to paddle in, current strong so don't go in too deep.

Location superb!! Right next to tomb of kings and bus stop outside takes you to Harbour one way and the brilliant CoralBay beach the other. I've been to loads of Med beaches and Coral Bay is up there with the best of them. Definitely worth doing the boat cruise and the trip to Troodos mountains is unforgettable. Great value hotel, ignore all the negative posters here!

Room Tip: Try for sea view and nearer sea the better

Just come back from 12 day stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. Many negative reviews have been written here which I don't agree with. A porter took our cases from us immediately upon arrival and took them to our room. Whilst we where checking in we were given a choice of water or orainge juice to drink. The room was bright and clean, despite facing the main road not the sea and not dated at all. New carpet had been laid in the corridors and our room was just like the picture shown. The staff can't do enough for you, especially the bar staff, and we received excellent service from both Gabriel and Peter who couldn't have been more polite. Free beach towels which can be changed as often as you like was great. There wasn't too much food out at any one time so it wasn't sat there waiting to be eaten, and was constantly being replenished. Good quality and choice. The beach isn't ideal for families as the current is too strong. You are warned of this so you enter at your own risk. There are no sun beds on the beach, however the hotel is on the coast facing the sea so you can use the sunbeds facing the sea on the hotel's lawns. Pool was regularly cleaned and the lifeguard did an excellent job in maintaining the pool and surrounding area during the day, as well as being on hand for emergencies. He would even often to re-position our brolly on many occasions when the sun moved round. In fairness, I would say it is a 4 star hotel rather than a 5 star, but we had a lovely relaxing holiday there and wouldn't hesitate in returning.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are in the sun all day to beware of the heat in July / August despite the air conditi...

Arrived at the hotel, reception/lobby looked great and modern. Got to the room and wasnt happy with it at all. Dirty old carpet throughout, cracked tiles in the bathroom with a door that doesnt shut. Was hoping for a kettle at least as we was only bed and breakfast, but didnt have anything except a small mini-bar fridge to keep a bottle of water in. The view looked over the car park so wasnt happy with that. The view from the outside balcony was great, looked over the pool and the sea!!
The sea was very dangerous and had the red flag up everyday, 2 people nearly died while we was there, but luckily had a great lifeguard who was friendly aswell! Prices for drinks by the pool (if you wasnt all inclusive) was very expensive.
There was only a few bars around the hotel which was empty every night. Around about 15 minutes walk down a dusty 'pathway' to a few more pubs/bars which were also empty. Watch out for locals as they threw bottles of water out of the windows and shouted things! Some nice restaurants around the hotel though which was great!! Locals seemed very moody!
Poor holiday overall.. Wouldnt return!!

Hotel was clean and the staff were excellent but the food was very poor left overs were served up the next day. Entertainment was not up to much 1 girl to do all the entertainment. The beach is a red flag beach and the notice board tells you to swim at your own risk, definately not for children. Hotel to be refurbished 2014 but should have been done a few years ago + thre is not much round about it.

Room Tip: We had a superior room but not worth the extra money

The price of the rooms reflect the location. It might have been a 5 star 15 years ago, but I would not class this hotel as one nowadays(more like 3 star). They do entertain during the day and night. The beach was artificially put at the sea and most of it is washed away now. Still some left to help you getting into the sea.

Our room had cracked tiles in the bathroom and the kids beds( we had a family room for 4) where really uncomfortable with thin mattress. Food is very average.

Hope this helps.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Venus Beach so I have given it 4 stars but read the comments below - we travelled as three generations of one extended family - grandparents (me) with children and grandchildren
Good points -
Staff - the staff were excellent and did everything possible to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable
Location - within walking distance of bars restaurants and attractions on edge of Paphos (even near Macdonalds and KFC for those interested)
Lifeguard - the lifeguard was excellent - I have never seen a lifeguard work so hard and rescue so many people - but read on
Bad points -
Building - could have done with some tender loving care but then the economy is in the pits
Food -this was poor - breakfast was good / good choice of hot and cold to suit all tastes - lunch was a hot and cold buffet which did not change much from day to day but was satisfactory - dinner was much the same as lunch which really is not good enough for a 4 star hotel - we ended up going out most evening to excellent restaurants nearby (Italian Duomo was the best) which it was obvious was what every one else was doing - we kept on meeting hotel guests whilst out dining and we exchanged recommendations for where to eat
Beach - nice to look at - dangerous to go in - red flagged - we witnessed 3 rescues - there were more we heard about - one we wit5nessed the victim died - this hotel is marketed as a beach hotel and the beach is dangerous and unusable - be warned
