“Nice hotel but not for us Brits”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

We have just returned home from a 10night stay at the venus beach hotel. 2 couples in our 40s,hotel was lovely, spacious, clean, and a great location. There are a lot of negatives though, too many Russians, not enough English, food, drink poor, and no entertainment on a night.Probably be best to go half board and walk into the harbour or a €10 taxi ride, plenty bars and restaurants, there's a nice pub on the way called the queen vic who have lots of entertainment, weather was red hot

We did the mistake of looking at reviews for this hotel after booking the holiday. Needless to say we were quite apprehensive about what to expect! However, on the whole we had a very pleasant stay at the Venus Beach Hotel. The service from staff was great, rooms are dated but nice and clean, and well air coned. But no where near a 5 star! Our 'inland' view room overlooked the King of Tombs and the sea much to our surprise.
We were gutted to read that the sea was too dangerous to swim in, but we went in it everyday with many others (which was gorgeous) and felt safe, not to mention there's a lifeguard.
There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols near the pool and beach area which was great if you're a keen sunbather or prefer to chill in the shade.
We went for an all inclusive holiday which was good, but the food really lets this place down....so bland! I'm a real foodie anyway so we hopped on the bus (opposite hotel which ran every 15 mins) and ended up in the harbour most evenings. Thank goodness there's a Lidl (2 minute walk) to stock up on bottled water as the tap water isn't drinkable too.
Paphos is beautiful and I'd like to go back.... I wouldn't say I wouldn't stay here again however there are far nicer and better hotels that I'd try over the Venus. My partner and I have learnt our lessons, and will be looking at ratings and reviews before we book next time!

I decided to stay in this hotel because it was close to my extended family holidaying at the time. A number of the previous reviews state this is not a 5 star hotel. This is a serious understatement. The hotel is tired and needs modernising. It is one of the oldest down that extended road. My wife asked if we could have a kettle in the room, standard in almost all hotels, however, we were told that as we were not in a premium room we could not have one. Amazing.
I would suggest you try the Royal George or even more, King Evelthorn a stunning 5 star hotel close by.
The other thing I have to mention is that the hotel is dominated by Russian customers, 1 British station on TV 4 Russian, and although the odd one can be approachable, the majority are arrogant and will not even pass a common greeting. Also fat Russian men in speedos is a daily diet by the pool. Lastly outside the hotel you have extended road works, that the local barmen tell you have been going on for months with no sign of completion. No mention of this when we booked.
The cost of living is good and the local people are great. Go to Cyprus but not this hotel.

Room Tip: Try a bus trip to the Old Town (1.50 Euros).

We have just returned from this hotel and it was amazing. The customer service was second to none. Upgraded us to a family suite and looked after us all very well. The room was spotless, as was the whole hotel and the food and facilities were excellant. We plqn to go back as soo as we can.

I spent a night at the hotel and was pleasantly surprised. From the outside, the hotel looks very outdated, however the rooms have been renovated, the pool area is nice and staff are friendly.

The hotel has free parking, is close to Pafos Harbour (by car or bus) and walking distance to the Tombs of the Kings and some of the restaurants.

The rooms have been renovated although the bathroom is outdated. The rooms are clean.

The pool is nice, but the sea at the Hotel beach is a bit to wavey to swim.

Food at the restaurant is nice.

Worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view

I have just returned from this hotel with my husband. Who is Responsible for for giving this hotel 5 stars??? Personally i would rate this as a 3 star at the moment.

The hotel is spoilt by the amount of Russian guests who are rude and their children who are left to run around throughout the complex including the dining room when people are carrying hot food and drinks. They are not supervised at the food servery and do not use the serving spoons etc provided.

The food is passable but more suited to the Russian guests. I am vegetarian and the choice is poor and on some occasions non existant. It was pointed out to me by the head waiter that lettuce, tomato and cucumber are all vegetarian!!! you don't say!

The rooms are in need of refurbishment. You have to pay to store your own items in the room mini bar at 1 euro per item.
On 2 occasions our room was not not serviced as someone kindly changed the 'please service the room sign to Do Not Disturb' this is not the hotels fault but someone's idea of a joke.

There are plenty of sunbeds. The swimming pool is the warmest i have been in for a long time but spoilt by kids jumping in and not caring who is around them
.
Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. We were late arriving but they kept the dining room open for us. There are not many hotels that will do that.

The bus route is right outside the hotel and run every 15 minutes or so. The road works outside the hotel are ongoing but dangerous for pedestrians at the moment as there are few footpaths finished.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room.

My parents are staying in this hotel I am staying elsewhere fortunately . Whilst the foyer and shared areas give an illusion of a spacious five star hotel look closer and you can see otherwise.
My biggest concern is the absolute rip off with the all inclusive when someone has spend their hard earned or saved money to take what they need to be a lovely holiday all inclusive should be just that or at least be prepared to honestly show this on their web site etc.
Here is a list,
First room available too dreadful to mention
Safe has to paid for,!!!!!
Fridge in room is emptied of cold drinks then locked unless you pay !!!!!!
No tea of coffee in room
No bottled water made available
Although Lidl over the road !!!!!
Snack bars all food to be paid for
To achieve all inclusive everyone has to visit the restaurant deemed appropriate that day.
Menu very predictive even then
Lifeguards on duty over a small very busy beach with strong currents are volunteers we come from Cornwall and are well used to currents and respect the sea but this is an accident waiting to happen

Ive looked at other reviews on here and cannot see on response from the management says it all doesn't it so save yourself the distress and look elsewhere
Just to note holiday makers predominately Russian as others have stated on here
I cannot even give one star it's such a rip off
