“Lovely Hotel.”
Reviewed 1 August 2012

Couple and 17 year old daughter stayed from 30th June - 14th July.

This hotel is lovely. The staff were all very friendly. The gardens were immaculate and very well kept. Our eventual room was fabulous, modern and spacious but we did change after one day but I will come to that later. We stayed half board, breakfast was superb and the evening meal was lovely too. I was a bit worried about being half board as we usually like to eat somewhere different every night but as booking a sea view room with half board was not much more money than B&B we went for it and probably saved quite a bit of money by doing so. Evening meals were themed, a menu was available and there was always something nice. You were shown to a table to suit your party size but helped yourself to the very large buffett. Tables were cleared very quickly too. We ate out in the harbour twice and at Fat Mama's twice too.
We had no problems getting a sun bed. We went on the small beach each day and there were beds available nearly all day, you could also feel a bit of a breeze off the sea as it was very very hot everyday. You do need shoes to get in and out of the sea from the beach as it is very rocky and slippy under foot. There are steps available if you just want to plunge right in to the sea without walking across the rocks. Alot of people tend to stay around the pool where they play games and music or on the grassed areas but there always seemed to be beds available during our stay plus it does not feel crowded even though there are alot of people there. There was alot of organised activities if you wanted them but we were never pressured once to join in which is good in my opinion.
We walked along the path to the harbour a couple of times, a slow 30 minutes walk or we caught the bus at one euro each. To be honest I liked the harbour area more than the area surrounding the hotel but as it was so hot we could not be bothered to go everynight plus cramming yourself in on a packed bus coming back was not very nice. We had some good entertaining nights in The Pit Stop which was more local and Fat mamas is a must.

The room.
On arrival at midnight we were given a room which was very disapointing to say we had paid extra for a sea view. It was more of a side sea view from the bedroom across scrubland and not the lovely sea view we were expecting across the lawned gardens shown in the brochure and on the web and other peoples pictures. We expressed our disapointment to the rep the next morning and she spoke to Nikki the hotel manager and they did offer us another room after lunch. So we did get moved to a beautiful room, two bedrooms too when we had only booked a one bed so thanks to the rep and the hotel for that. It was a bit of a bad start to the holiday but don't pressume that if you book a seaview room you will be on the front and not the side. Something Thomson and the hotel need to look at in the future.

Would I go there again - Yes without a doubt. The daughter was probably too old to be going with us and there were not many people there her age so she got stuck with us and found it less enjoyable but thats her age and not the hotels fault.

So all in all a very nice holiday.

Thank you Kefalos beach Village.

Just returned from cyprus 29th July and we booked our holiday to the Kefalos on the strength of the reviews from trip advisor and we was NOT disappointed. This hotel is absolutely lovely. Excellent location, friendly and really good for little ones.

The rooms are very clean and with a maid service everyday stayed that way. When we return back though we would definetely book a room with a sea view as the sunsets are spectacular and it would have been nice to see them from the balcony. We were only Bed and Breakfast but the breakfast choice in the mornings was excellent.

The entertainment team work incredibly hard and you can do as much or as little as you please. We have 3 little girls who love to dance so the mini disco everynight was brilliant for them.

The only gripe we did have was trying to get a sunbed in the mornings. The rule of not being able to reserve them is not enforced and unless you get down there by 7am you had very little chance of getting one.

All in all though excellent place and will most definetely be returning!!!!

Extremely enjoyable 2 week holiday at the Kefalos taken in July. Went with jet2holidays who were several hundred pound cheaper than thomsons and gave a comparable service re flights, transfer and rep.Reception check in was easy and the frequently mentioned buggy whisked you to your apartment.

Though we did not have a sea view apartment it was nevertheless in a lovely position which still gave views along to the nearby Faros beach. We had the upper apartment with a reasonable sized balcony for these all important relaxing drinks. Everything you need in rooms, with a fold down bed in lounge area (easy to fold back in morning). Air conditioning which you can adjust and lovely and cool out of the Cyprus sun.
We went half board and the food was excellent. You were shown to a table on arrival and busy staff worked tirelessly to take away used plates and clear tables. The breakfast tended to be busier offering the usual range of dishes but the evening meal excelled with a quieter relaxed ambience. Delicious range of food with a least 3/4 super dishes a night. Themes changed nightly but the food on offer was always A+.

During the day the pool area was busy but a peaceful swim was always available. Early morning crowd maybe got the poolside sunloungers but loads were available literally a few yards away on the grass area which was a bit more relaxed but still near to the action if you wanted to participate in the various activities. Alternatively a little bit further you could take your sun bed down to the beach and escape into your book. Yes beach a bit rocky but fine for a paddle and a walk along the jetty gave you steps into the sea. The indoor pool can be used and is located basically next to the dining area. Water colder in indoor pool which was a blessing.

Entertainment at night was ok, some shows better than others. If nothing on we fancied wandered up the various bars a few minutes away on the main road. Kids loved their disco, rarely seen so much enthusiasm from kids AND entertainers. Better nights involved the fire show and greek/cypriot nights. Entertainment staff very good and worked very hard. Entertainment in front of hotel in lovely setting near sea. Waiters will come around for your orders and they were extremely friendly. Drink a bit expensive but not too bad. Of all the beers the local Leon beer seemed the best and was also the cheapest! wife enjoyed the wines and cocktails. There is a happy hour of sorts in the hotel bar at reception which involves a discount on certain drinks, best value seemed to be the cocktails which were discounted a couple of euros to 3.50 (i think).

Cannot stress enough how good the staff are in all areas of this hotel.

For some reason the hotel does not offer a competitive exchange rate. Also watch that if changing money a range of rates are available but the better ones seemed to be in harbour area.

Small supermarket in hotel, not badly priced. Cheaper ones for drink/water on main road. Big supermarket in harbour area close to bus stop where we would buy some wine for a few euros also has a lovely cafe for a cup of tea and great air conditioning. Speaking of the bus the 615 serves all your needs taking you from coral bay to the harbour area. It is at the harbour you would then get bus to market and waterpark. Because the buses are in the same location and very frequent do not be put off by having to get 2 buses to go somewhere.

Lovely walk to harbour area on coastal path though mildly tiring in the hotter parts of day.

MUST visit the mosiacs in archaeological park, try to get guide book or info. before to get the most of the stunning sights. Park also includes odeon/lighthouse etc.Tomb of the Kings only a ten minute walk away with further gems.
We went on day trip to see local villages etc. booked with Prestige travel who have an office basically just left when you walk from hotel to main road and are MUCH cheaper than same trips reps sell.

Paphos harbour offer huge range of boat trips. Various lengths of trip and prices. Can be booked through Prestige travel or in the harbour area itself.

Aphrodite water park was a bit expensive but a reasonably nice day out was had.

Pubs in Tomb of Kings road all reasonable. Bit of entertainment offered. Prices reasonable and a most offered food which used at lunchtimes. Tramps and Pit Stop were fine for us but to be fair all the pubs were much the same in a good way.
Wife/daughter found enough shops at Market area to keep them occupied.

Probaly missed loads of info. out so get in touch if any queries. Would definately go back to Kefalos but maybe in a slightly cooler part of year but heartily recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: upper apartments more private

Just returned from Cyprus on the 22nd July this was our 8th time in Paphos but our 1st time at the Kefalos Beach will be returning next year. Found all the staff friendly and very helpful especially Geoff and his golf buggy. We booked a room with a side sea view which is lovely as you get the sunset from your balcony. Rooms clean and spacious, kitchenette is stocked with everything you could need. Nice to have a proper hair dryer and not a travel one as most hotels seem to supply. Lovely to have fluffly white towels in bathroom. Grounds are all kept immaculate, you get a real feel of being in a cypriot village when walking around. Pool area is ok but it tends to get really busy, but the sea front is lovely if you want to enjoy the views and piece and quiet. Ideal location soom nice places to eat around there and you can get a bus straight into the harbour if you want somewhere thats a bit more lively.

Room Tip: side sea view away from pool so you don't get the music being played all day and the sunset is w...

Ok, As the title suggests. This is a great resort. We will be returning. Its excellent for Kids and adults a like. Plenty of things to keep you occupied. Im not a sun-worshiper and get bored of just sitting there in the sun all day. So the activitys around the pool are a welcomed addtion. Kids club looked great too (my daughter was too young to take part) but other kids looked to be having a blast. As i say, Every review on here backs up how good this resort is. so Im not going to go in to major detail about the good stuff. Its all been said before.

Most people who come on trip adviser want to know the hotel/resorts bad points. So here are the few that i encountered. Everything else is top notch.

1) Bar prices!! They are way too high. 3euros 50 for a pint of Keo. 50 yards up the road 1euro 50 and lower for the exact same pint. Cocktails close to 6euro's. Up the road 3euro's. They clearly know that they have some people trapped in the resort so they can charge what they like and people will be forced to pay. me included.

2) AJ from the entertainment team - He really grated on some of brits we spoke to. I wasnt to bothered by him but his persona does seems more suited to the 18-30's scene than a family resort. We where speaking to a english couple during our stay and they went as far as to say "he made brits look bad". and he is a "typical brit abroad, seems like a lout". i wouldnt go that far. He was abit cringe worthy on the microphone though, lol. You could tell that Rico (the other male member of the entertainment team) was prefered by most. He got a lot more people involved than AJ did. Things like Bingo where always busier when Rico was running the show. AJ just doesnt seem very approachable.

3)the Kids playground. During the day its unusable as all the equipment (slide, swings etc) are too hot to put your childs bum on. Then, when it finally cools down in the late afternoon. They pad lock the park up and you cant get in. Its pointless. On a few occasions i just jumped the fence and lifted my daughter over so she could have a run around and a go on the slide.

Well, thats it. Minor Niggles. Get booking!!
