“Brilliant holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2007

stayed at the kefalos beach for 1 week, wish it could have been longer now.lovely hotel, staff are brilliant always catering for your needs, rooms though basic were enough i mean you only sleep in them anyway but could do with updating, but all the same cleaned everyday and the staff were very efficient.we stayed half board and what a good decision it was too food was fabulous and plentyful also always at least three main meals to choose from and every night of the 7 nights there was something different.
pools were kept spotlessly clean, only gripe at this time of the year its busy so get down to the pool early and i mean 7am time to reserve your sunbed othwewise all the sunbeds will be gone.my kids never used the kids club(due to shyness) but did hear they were well organized and pretty good.but we are looking to return next year for longer as we are so impressed.just 5 mins walk up the road there are local pubs and taverners, try tramps, kings road, yamas and o'neils.
even though the food was perfect at the hotel we booked for a meal at fat mamas as everyone raved about it,one thing to remember is book early to save disappointment(3 or 4 days before) but was a lovely meal and reasonable really family of 4 around £45cyp pounds.paphos harbour is about 20 mins walk for the the fit or 80cents each on the bus.we got the bus in to paphos harbour had a walk round the shops and had a drink then got a taxi back for £4cyp pounds.also had a night at coral bay further than we thought but again 80 cents each on the bus and about a 20 mins bus ride there is more taverners up there and a mini amusement park for the kids with crazy golf and coin operated games and bumper cars kept the kids happy for an couple of hours,we decided to get a taxi back that can be anything between 6 and 7 cyp pounds.
back at the hotel they have entertainment on from 8:30 till about 11pm then the bars open later on,everyone from the hotel meets there and stays there most the time, so good place to meet people and have fun.prices......well beer pint is about £2 to £2.40,
£1.30 for fizzy pop,75p for water from the hotel bar and local bars so not to bad.the shop on the hotel was quite reasonable so if you want to save yourself a few pennys and you want the walk go up the road but otherwise just use the shop its pretty good really.
one last thing if you think your brave enough try the indoor pool freezing brrrrrrrrrrrr but great when you go back in the main pool outside.

Just arrived back from a fantastic holiday in Cyprus. We stayed at the Kefalos Beach Tourist Village, which was gorgeous. We booked Self Catering and our room was huge with a proper kitchen area, unlike the ones you get in Greece where they are inside the wardrobe! It was extremely hot when we where there, it reached nearly 50 degrees, so thank goodness for the FREE air conditioning. Our rooms were cleaned everyday (even on a Sunday) with fresh towels also provided on a daily basis.

The pool area is very large with lots of sunbeds, this then leads onto a grassy area where there is yet more sunbeds and then you have the beach with yet more sunbeds. We both like sunbathing around the pool area and the only problem we found was that you had to get up early to get yourself a sunbed. Even though there are lots of sunbeds available, they get snapped up pretty quickly, after 8.30am they where all gone by the pool. The staff are all lovely and very helpful, they will even come and serve you drinks by the pool or on the beach.

The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Tomb of the Kings Road, where there is a wide selection of bars and restaurants, so it is not too far to stagger back home to. The hotel itself has a restaurant and although we didn't use it we where told off many people that it served lovely food. Entertainment is on a night time, which is good if you want a quite night. The view at night time from the hotel bar is lovely too.

There is a gym on site which was well equipped, with a sauna and jacuzzi also available.

The only negative thing that can be said is that the drinks are quite expensive. Small bottles of local water from the pool area cost around 85p (English money), just under a pint of soft drinks (with a mountain of ice) costs around £2.20. There are signs up saying you are not allowed drinks or food from outside of the pool bar, but people were buying them from the shop and bringing them to the pool side and nothing was said. If you can get away with doing this then I recommend you do or else you'll end up spending a fortune!

Overall I very enjoyable holiday and I would recommend Kefalos Beach to anyone. . .

  • Liked — Huge pool area, spacious rooms and free air conditioning
  • Disliked — The price of the soft drinks from the pool area are far too expensive

We stayed at Kefalos beach village for a week in August, and realy enjoyed the place - clean, good maid service, nice pool and good spacious rooms. Worth paying for a sea view appartment, as the views of the sun setting are fabulous.

Breakfast was failrly ordinary, but good choices should keep most happy. The rooms look like they are not far off needing a lick of paint, but they're not too bad.

Shame that the sea is not good for swiming at Kefalos - very rocky and full of seaweed. Better bet is to go to Coral bay, or if you have a car, the beach to the west of Polis is excellent (as are the sea food restauants there).

Unfortunately we weren't so smitten with Paphos itself - pretty grubby, a bit seedy and all a bit fake. Better restaurants are on tomb of the kings road, rather than in Paphos town itself. Metaxas near the hotel is a good bet, as is Rigas Restaurant next to Fat Mamas - good Cypriot food for a fraction of the price people are paying in Fat Mamas for their TGI Friday burgers.

You must hire a car to go to the mountains - stuning in every way. We hired a car from SIXT up on Tomb/Kings Road - good service, though the car was a bit 'worn'

Spent 2 weeks at the Kefalos Beach-stayed in a 1 bed, sea view apartment. Fabulous outlook, very spacious and kept very clean by the hardworking housekeeping staff. Bed linen and towels changed regularly. Apartment looking a little tired in places but i understand that refurb. is due this winter. Spacious pool and surrounding area -grassy area adjacent to beach provided lots more room. Indoor pool sometimes got 'taken over' by over-exuberant teenagers! Beach not very inviting-quite stoney and sea very rocky although there is a jetty to enter the sea that avoids these. Grounds kept spotless also. Snack bar very reasonably priced for food and drink, and of a high standard-staff very friendly. We were S/C but used onsite restaurant for breakfast and evening meal several times. Food choice was excellent (different 'themed' nights every day) and very good value, 7.50 cyp for full buffet evening meal. Restaurant itself was very tranquil and cool, staff again always very welcoming. We only went to evening entertaiment once. It was quite low key- bingo and karaoke but o.k.-quite relaxing. We would return!

September 2006

Spent a fortnight at Kefalos and we had a lovely holiday. The appartments are clean and airy. Staff are always pleasant and helpful. We had no complaints at all. The complex is situated on the beach, and is within walking distance of The Tomb of the Kings Road where there are numerous pubs and restaurants. Kato Paphos and the harbour are a 20 minute walk. We had such a good time we are booked to go again this year!

We are a family of four. My children are 11 and 7 years of age and there was plenty of things at the Kefalos Beach Village to keep them occupied. They loved the indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts and games rooms. We all really enjoyed staying at the Kefalos Beach Village. The apartment is large and well equiped for self catering and has excellent air conditioning, which we used constantly as our holiday was during the Cyprus heat wave! Everyone one of the staff was always very helpful and friendly. The maid service was exceptional. Some nice restaurants about 5 minutes walk away and I can highly recommend the food at O'Neils especially their steak and guiness pie. We visited the Tomb of the Kings which is close by and in my childrens words it was awesome! I would recommend The Kefalos Beach Village to anyone thinking of holidaying in Pahos.

Just returned yesterday from a 10 day break at this complex and while I can say overall it was a pleasant place to stay, there was nothing that I could find the enthusiasm about to write a rave review for others!
I read the reviews for this complex on this site before travelling and I found most of those reviews to be particulary glowing!
However in my experience I found everything to be a bit mundane!

The complex itself is set out in a village style which is pleasing to the eye and very well kept, however, unless you have one of the apartments or studios that are on the peripherals of the site (ie a sea view), you will find that your ' private' balcony is looking directly towards your neighbours balcony, which doesn't allow for much privacy at all.

I personally had a studio whilst staying there, which only had one major problem! It had a very thin (locked) connecting door to the apartment next door! ( I presume that sometimes the studio is used as an extension to the apartment for larger families) If you find yourself next door to quiet neighbours then that in itself is a great thing, however, I could everything that went on next door from them opening their fridge to stirring their cups of tea!!!

Facility wise the complex is pretty basic! It has in my opinion a small overcrowded pool and very meagre eatery options! It does however have a good facility of providing sun - loungers and canopys (please note the sarcasm coming up!) The complexes on this beach front are pretty much close together and if you should stray onto another complexes territory you will be asked to remove yourself sraight away!!!

However you will find that those who stray onto your territory are given the option to pay ( a meagre rate) to take up those prized areas that you would have expected to have been kept for you seeing as you are paying for it, in your 'all inclusive price'!

Entertainment is poor!!! Its on a par with going to 'Butlins'! How we all love to go to Cyprus to play 'bingo'!

You will during your stay see everyone flocking out of the complex in the evening in search of better food and entertainment and it is out there! (leave that for you to find)!

The last comment I will leave is regarding the friendliness of staff! There are a few of them that are curteous and polite, but most tend to suffer you, rather than help you!
