“Beware room allocation!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 November 2010

Rooms 116, 216 and 316 have a balcony view of the back end of a disco, 3 commercial rubbish bins and a dusty carpark with piles of builders rubble. We were self catering and expected to be able to eat breakfast, read and sip drinks on our balcony. When we complained and pointed out that we did not think the view was acceptable we got 'It's what you paid for' from both the hotel and tour company (First Choice). We could have upgraded at extra cost but we thought the hotel should have been ashamed to offer us such a substandard view and been keen to recompense us free when the hotel was so obviously not full to capacity. The hotel did find us a standard pool view room after 2 nights.
Having said that though everything else about the place was fine. The staff were friendly. The pool was huge with lots of sunbeds - even some with shade. The room was large, clean and better equipped than many we have had.The bathroom even had a bath and we had no difficulty with hot water. I agree with the comment about hard beds though.

I was really excited about staying here after checking the reviews on Trip advisor but...

...when we arrived the room looked nothing like the brochures/photos. Then we worked out we were in the part of the hotel which hadn't been done up. The room we had was standard, but....the view was crap. The balcony didn't look safe. The carpet in the bedroom crunched when we walked on it and the bed was two twins shoved together and were rock hard. The bathroom didn't look clean. The sofas looked dirty and the kitchen area looked depressing. I spoke to the miserable lady on reception and she offered us an upgrade for 35 euros a night - which we took - the superior rooms were more than superior ! They were really nice - a TV in each room, nice kitchen area, the balcony was metal with glass and looked safe!
The bar staff were friendly enough and the food was nice - but food and drinks at the hotel were both expensive.
The pool was too cold to go in (probably because of the time of year to be fair) and there were quite a few flies.
On our last day there was a group who were spitting and swering none syop by the pool - I'm not old but I found them annoying and offensive as I'm sure others did - but the staff did nothing.
On two occassions our room key card didn't work - the second time it happened the man on reception said I souldn't keep it next to my mobile - I didn't have my mobile with me at all when I had the key - but he INSISTED that was what it was?!
Before I went I had emailed the apartments and asked about the gym - it wasn't what we expected when we got there. The treadmill didn't even work. The photos of the gym in their brochure is NOT the same gym!
I loved our upgraded room and the location was great but after a rocky start I felt a little let down.

arrived at this hotel in the evening the hotel staff were very helpful and informative,

we stayed in a superior room which was great had its own kettle, fridge, oven, hob, microwave even tho we were on bed and breakfast basis you can go half board here but there are lots of restaurants and cafes around,

the pool area was lovely and plenty of sunbeds for the time of the year, weather was fantastic not one bad day all over 26 degrees!! :)

all hotel staff were friendly and helpful

breakfast was very good consisted of beans, sausages, bacon, egg all varieties, cereal, toast, pastries, fruit and yogurt.

rooms are cleaned everyday if your in a superior room

reception is also 24hours which is good (especially if you have a late night out and get in at 5am)

hotel clientle was mainly people aged over 40 however it is not peak season and many of these told us they had been there before, and there was also a few younger couples.

hotel is located down a side street which is lovely as not to noisy......turn left at end of the road you will be on bar street which was good not overly noisy....had a linkers there which was very good and all staff are v.friendly all british to....also if you want a good night out for clubbin try rainbow club.....(most clubs and bars have closed down for the winter season so only a few are open)

if you turn right at the end of the hotel road plenty of restaurants and even a mini market close by......restaurants are very reasonable priced can get 3 course meals for 10euros and drinks are cheap to a large keo(local beer) is under 3 euros

the harbour is about a five minute walk away to your right follow the main road....if you go left ten min walk to beach

at the harbour they have a castle which is very nice only 1.70 entry same as the tomb of the kings

buses are easy to use a cheap 1 euro for one way anywere so worth catching bus to the market in the old town, and the bus also goes past the tomb of the kings which is good to have a look at for an hour or so. plus get the bus to coral bay only 1 euro its 20euro if you get a taxi.

if you need to change any euros it is cheaper to do this down in the harbour in the shops than at the hotel,

overall this hotel was wot i was after clean, friendly,in a excellent location to everything and quiet around the hotel and in the day to chill out and not to far to bars if we fancied a drink or 2!!!!

We were a little apprehensive about the Anemi, as some reviews had commented that there was a lot of noise from the nearby bars and clubs. Really glad we went! We were self catering and found our room spacious and clean, kitchen had all mod cons and was very well equipped. The room was cleaned every day and towels changed frequently.

The hotel is ideally situated (if a little too close to the neony bars etc), and has a really slick finish throughout, lovely pool area and bar. We didn't get a pool room, however we did not find the noise from the neighbouring bars to be too bad (it was off season though). Would recommend taking a pair of earplugs just in case, as the road next to the hotel is a small one but the Cypriots seem to love revving their cars and motorcycles! It might be more of a problem if you have children, but to be honest I'm not sure having a pool view room would make a great deal of difference to the level of noise.

The surrounding area has a good choice of bars and restaurants, the archeological sites are nearby and if you hire a car there are some lovely beaches and towns to drive to.

All in all I'd definately recommend the Anemi. If you go in high season, expect a bit more noise, but nothing a pair of earplugs won't sort!

After checking out various hotels and apts we decided to go with the Anemi and were not disappointed. We had the standard studio which was great. Very spacious with a kitchenette (microwave hob etc). We travelled with our baby boy so had requested a cot in the room which was delivered to our room on arrival, it was just a travel cot but did the job. The breakfasts in the hotel were lovely with a great choice of cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit, danish pastries all on the buffet so the amount was plentiful. We stayed HB and the evening meals were lovely as well. We only had the buffet choice 2 nights and the rest of the time was a choice of 2 starters, 3 mains and 3 sweets with waiter service. We were always happy with the choices available but i am aware some of the guests were expecting more buffet nights. Rooms had balconies but if we go back again we would request a room over looking the pool instead of the car park opposite! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool and sun loungers etc were lovely although the pool was a bit chilly in November! it was a 5 minute walk to the seafront and about 10 mins to the lovely harbour area. I would certainly recommend the Anemi and would have no hesitation staying there again.

We were two couples and we stayed for one week. We were meet by the owner as if we were family - what a lovely start to our holiday. The staff were wonderful and espically Lena, a big thank you to all of you. We called the hotel and they gave us a special rate which was wonderful. The rooms were spotless and we have a wonderful apartment overlooking the pool. We ate one night and the food was very good. There are lots of restaurant within five minuites walk. Thank you and we will be back as we could not fault one thing. Mary & Joseph. Bridget and Terence.
