“Thank you Eleni Holiday Village for a truly wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2013

Having returned only hours ago from a seven night stay at the Eleni, I had to get straight on Tripadvisor to share what a fantastic hotel this is.
I travelled with six other friends and we arrived at the hotel just before midnight. As a previous traveller has mentioned, the all inclusive does end at 2345, but as we had done our research, we were prepared for this and were able to purchase drinks at the bar (very reasonable prices too). We were also handed sandwiches and fruit to eat before we headed off to bed. I am a little puzzled why previous reviewers are shocked that all inclusive ends at midnight, as in my experience that is the norm.
The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. One of our rooms has an issue with air con, but it was fixed as soon as we reported it. Requests for extra pillows were also dealt with in a flash.
The food was lovely. There was plenty of choice and I was happy to see lots of local dishes on offer. All the hot dishes were piping hot, there was also a large and imaginative selection of salads and soups at every meal. There was a thoughtful balance of local dishes (all exquisitely cooked, I found out the hotel prides itself on having its own butcher and getting their meat in fresh every day, hence the mouthwatering, melt in your mouth beef and pork dishes). The fish was excellent, too. The local lager, Keo, is lovely and there were a dizzying choice of cocktails on offer. The bar staff were, without exception, wonderful, I really cannot understand how anyone could find any one of them remotely unfriendly. Chris, Theo, Ana at the top bar were always cheerful, happy to chat and ready to accommodate even the weirdest drinks requests, and Adam at the pool bar was always smiling even through some of our awful attempts to order drinks in Greek! Speciality coffees are available on all inclusive if you ask for them with the local version of the liqueur in them. A previous reviewer complained that you could only get one drink per person at the bar on all inclusive, thus "forcing" the elderly and infirm to struggle up to the bar if they wanted a drink. This is not the case at all! Yes there are notices in place saying one drink per person, but the bar staff quickly get to know how many are in your party and are happy for one or two people to come up and "get a round in".
The entertainments staff were tireless and eager to make sure there was always something fun to do around the pool, but you never felt you were being badgered by them to take part, they got the balance exactly right.
Reception was 24 hours and the staff were great, no request too big or small.
After dinner entertainment was great - quizzes, bingo, discos, cabaret acts. Lets face it, this is not Las Vegas, but it was all so much fun to watch and almost impossible not to join in.
The weather was stunning, the pool large and immaculately kept. There is a separate infant pool, and also a separate water volleyball pool, which was hilarious. There are plenty of sun loungers and sun umbrellas that can be arranged in whatever formation you wish. There is a lovely grassed area overlooking the sea, and a massage and fish pedicure area (not part of all inclusive, but excellent prices).
Our rep, Lucinda, was excellent and made herself available frequently during our stay and was genuinely concerned that we should have the best experience we could. She gave us comprehensive info about the local area and all the activities available to us, but did not try to hard sell us loads of expensive trips. We did pay for one trip, the Half Day Heaven Ocean Flyer which is a MUST for anyone who likes boat trips but with a bit of luxury (limited numbers, luxury craft, all inclusive fabulous food and drinks) and excellent value for money.
We did not do any other trips or really leave the hotel at all as it had everything we needed. There was a wide mix of age groups amongst the guests and we made loads of friends around the pool and in the bar. As did our travelling companion, Pete the Pineapple, who became very popular with guests and staff alike.
As with so many things in life, the quality of your stay here depends on your attitude. If you are friendly and accommodating to the staff, then I promise that they will bend over backwards to make your holiday there as fantastic as ours was.

nice clean hotel barstaff very friendly, receptionist very ignorant,no kids club, which is not what the brochure said, entertainment most nights was a quiz, also the kids disco was about 5 songs everynight, also while we were therewith 5 kids who had nothing to do my 13 month old fell in the pool the life guard who was to busy on his iphone to realize didnt move my wife stepped down into the pool to pull him out landed awkwardly picked up my grandson and handed him to his father,my geandson was fine, still no movement from the lifeguard,my wife was the sat on the edge of the pool crying for ten minutes, she then limped across the pool, and then rested for another ten minutes then limped past the lifeguard to reception, allwhilst the lifeguard never looked up asked if she was allright or touched his first aid kit, when we got to reception and asked the receptionist to phone a doctor, first she asked us who we were with ,we told her thomson at which she said we had to do everything through our rep who she would ring, she then informed us the reps line was busy and that we should return to our room and await instructions from our rep which she couldnt message us because the phones were down.after waiting 30 mins in our room we returned to reception for the sour faced receptionist told us our rep had been in touch and we were to wait untill 5 o clock untill she arrived at the hotel, and waved us away from the desk,at which time i asked her to phone a taxi, she flatly refused and told us to wait untill 5,this is at 1300 hrs, when i started insisting she phone a taxi to which she still refused,a taxi driver in the lobby dropping people off offered to take us to the hospital, where we were told my wife had a broken leg and had a plaster put on.when we spoke to our rep at 5 o clock she informed us she told our receptionist to book us a taxi straight away and send us to hospital, this is only one of our complaints the whole fortnight was blighted with my whole family ,12 of us ,asking for what was in the brochure only to be told they were trying to sort things out as they had been shut all winter.will never pick this hotel again does not match any thing in the brochure.and the food got worse every day ,we ate out every lunchtime as it always seemed to be leftovers from the night before.

Hmmmm. What to say about this hotel? It is definitely in a state of change. We stayed for 11 nights and things were improving slowly. We were told by management (when we complained about the supposedly hot food being served almost cold) that the restaurant manager and general manager had only been there for 2 weeks. The Trip Advisor commendations on the wall were not applicable as there have been changes in management and quality. The 'restaurant' has been partly painted but left without being completed. The way the food and tables are laid out leaves you with a feeling of being in a canteen The quality and choice of food is fine for a 2/3 star hotel but spoilt by being served tepid. Apparently there was a problem with the heat lamps on the buffet display. This was rectfied after our complaint but still the bacon and eggs was coming out of the kitchen less than hot! The hotel Manager, Maitre D and head Chef all responded promptly to our complaint and were very pleasant and efficient. There were constant streams of what appeared to be students being shown round the hotel and obvious consultations by management with workmen. I guess this is all with a view to improving things. The grass area where the sunbeds are was overgrown. In some areas the grass was a foot tall. There is no sandy beach. To walk comfortably on the beach or swim or paddle in the sea you need to bring or buy beach shoes (about 7 euros locally). The rooms are large and reasonably comfortable but the appliances are mostly old and basic. The balcony was massive but wasted on us as there were no sunbeds or even lights. If you enjoy evenings spent chatting, reading or playing cards or sipping wine in the evening on the balcony this hotel is not for you.The entertainment provided was dire but for the price we paid we laughed about it and went to bed. The all inclusive tariff is strictly adhered to on an individual basis. There are notices prominently displayed saying that you could only order 1 drink - any more would have to be paid for. Very frustrating for elderly/infirm people who are forced to walk to the bar (which is quite a distance if you are by the pool) every time they want a drink. There is a spa/ massage/manicure service on site but the sister hotel 5 minutes walk away is much more professional and cheaper.
The swimming pool/s cannot be faulted and are excellent. There is a lifeguard. There are plenty of sunbeds - at least in May. The staff are efficient, helpful and for the most part, friendly. The sheets and towels are changed very regularly. The rooms and public places are very clean. There is 10 minute walk to the bus stop (depending on your mobility) The buses now terminate at Coral Bay in one direction and the Harbour in the other which means that you need to pay again after these stops. As the fare is 1 euro (3 euros for an all day ticket) that's OK.

If you are on a budget and do not expect too much you will enjoy a holiday at the Eleni Holiday Village but if you want a bit more comfort and choice you may want to check out hotels nearer Coral Bay, the Harbour or Old Town.I last visited Paphos in 1999 and noticed massive changes. Particularly in the old town which is very shabby and dilapidated - no doubt due to the recession. The island is still beautiful and as they drive on the same side of the road as the British - take your driving licence and hire a car to see it all!!

There is so much scope for improvement at this Hotel and it appears that George, the manager, will address the issues. It will be interesting to read Trip Advisor reviews in a years time.

Booked the Eleni Village as brochure said had kids club and animation team. Kids club was a room full of chairs - not a toy in sight. Entertainment consisted of 5 songs at a kids disco starting at 2100 when most kids are ready for bed. When I queried this was told it is the start of the season - not my prob if am paying for it.
Bed had filthy stains and room smelt musty and had clear signs of damp - on the plus side was a good size, well equipped and nice balcony.
On arrival was pointed in the direction of room, which was several flights of stairs away, with a small child, pram, suitcases made for very hard work.
Had rain for one morning so pool bar not open, when asked about ice cream for kids was told no, said we were paying for this, told no staff so no ice cream!
Sheets should have been changed twice during stay on day 5 had to ask at reception for clean sheets, these were left on bed for us to change ourselves. Left no towels on 2 occasions, the ones given at reception were threadbare and smelt like they had been used for a week first!
Pool area was nice and good for little kids, although you had to walk in the pool to get past the sunbeds.
Food was very very repetitive, if you dont like chicken then dont go all inclusive, was on offer every lunchtime and every teatime. Very limited choice, pudding was melon, jelly or cake every day. This may be better once season is underway but when paying good money you expect what they advertise.
Lovely waitress called Emily in restraunt, rest of staff quite miserable.
Looking at the other reviews they are either related to the manager or they stayed at a different place!!
Not good value for money.

Room Tip: dont go with pool view, get sea or side sea view towards back of hotel.
