We've stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions, and opted for another visit for my birthday and to finish off the week after visiting friends elsewhere in Cyprus. We arrived on my birthday and my husband had arranged for flowers, champagne and canapés on arrival in our room. In the evening he had also pre-arranged a gourmet tasting menu with our private waiter and a table overlooking the bay. Fantastic! The second time he's ever surprised me and one of the two best birthdays I ever had. One thing I will say though is that the chef needs to downsize his portions, we were getting full by the 4th setting and glad/amazed when the chef came out to check on whether we wanted a whole lobster or half each. Suffice to say the desert was forced down with good intentions of a hard slog in the gym the next morning. This was fully accomplished, at least to try and run off some of the dinner from the night before. We used the gym every morning, but would have preferred to have done so in an air conditioned room rather than have the windows open.
We are familiar with the area and hotel and therefore aware that the fish restaurant would not be open until peak season, but would have like to have used the beach bar facilities at least once while we were staying. Unfortunately, it was closed throughout the whole of our visit due to weddings taking place. One gripe we did have was that we were unable to utilise the pool facilities as much as would have wanted. Not being ones for leaving a book and disappearing off for the whole day, we would go out in the morning and come back in the afternoon to enjoy the pool, but be unable to as they had been "bagged" or potential sunbeds still had used towels left on them and none to replenish if required. Whilst I agree with other comments on the site regarding the rooms being a little on the tired side, the service provided by the hotel staff was second to none, particularly Olga.

The hotel above does not have the facilities stated on their website at the time of booking, the Psari-Seafood Grill was no longer open. The beach bar Ipokambos is no longer serving food of any kind and is closed most days due to private functions. We had booked half board and we were very disappointed when we arrived to find that we were restricted the Ambrosia restaurant only. Apart from the lack of restaurant facilities there were other issues that we were not happy with:
• The old Psari-Seafood Grill was having work carried out which disturbed guests for two days, one night the drilling and banging continued until 8pm (you could not have a conversation with other guests).
• On another occasion we had retreated to our room around 4pm to find drilling and banging again in the room next door and in numerous rooms on our floor. It was explained to us that new doors were being fitted, why this could have not been done in closed season.
• There were numerous incidents of staff arguing in front of the guests.
• The pool was being cleaned at 11am when guests wanted to swim, when the pool man was questioned by the management he stormed off leaving the cleaning tubes etc in the pool.
• The bar tender (once he knew it was our last night) was hinting about leaving him a tip this was in my opinion disgraceful, needless to say no tip was given.
• One evening the wind was so strong the guests were not allowed on the terrace and were restricted to drinks in the Captains Bar lounge area, the air conditioning was not switched on and we were all boiling.
• Loud music can be heard from the beach bar along from the hotel.
I have to say that the Thalassa is not a luxury five star hotel, its location and the food we did have were very good. As others have stated the sunbeds are not comfortable as the materess is too thin.

We stayed her for 5 days in late May with three teenage children. The hotel says no children under 8 which is understandable, however our family were made to feel like naughty school children when going in the pool-glares from people on the uncomfortable sun beds. In fact whilst we were by the pool one guest was told off by another guest informing him that the pool was a 'quiet area!'
We have stayed at various SLH of the World previously and this is not 5* accommodation. The rooms are very tired, we had a suite which was simply an adjoining room with a (grubby) sofa rather than a bed in it. Badly refilled toiletries in the bathroom and marks and scuffs on furniture and walls, our room was overlooking the sunset side and unfortunately the car park which on a daily basis had the arrival of the 'Wedding Bus'. (Not sure if 'Who let the dogs out' the best tune to be playing on the bus!)
The beach bar was closed everyday due to weddings/private functions. The beach isn't that clean with cigarette butts and litter.
Staff are helpful, check in was quick, but there was a definite clique for regular guests.
Breakfast is okay, but certainly nothing to rave about, every morning we had to ask for a table for 5 people and chairs to be moved and places set.
Unfortunately towels in the shape of swans and a plate of fruit do not make a luxury hotel.

I have to say, I'm rather reluctant to write this review, as I would rather this place stayed off the radar! It is a great hotel in a fantastic location.

This hotel has a great position, on a peninsular (featuring a 3000 year old archaeological site!), with seaview rooms facing both sunrise and sunset! You have the choice of the Coral Bay Beach to the left and 2 more beaches to the right.

It's a small hotel with no young children, so ideal for relaxation. The spa facilities were excellent and very underused. The gym was good but really needs air con. The massages are first class.

The breakfast buffet was average/good and the a la carte evening meal was of a very high standard if a little pricey.

We stayed the first night in a standard sunset room, which was OK. The air con was a little weak for me, so we upgraded to a superior sunset suite. The views were stunning! Huge balconies. One thing I would have liked to see is a separate walk-in rain shower, but the jacuzzi was a nice touch!

There are some fabulous restaurants in the strip. Do check out the Mediterranean if you appreciate high quality food. It's positioned right at the end (on the left) and has recently changed its name from "The Bay". The Italian opposite is also good as is the Corella if you want to sample a traditional Cyprus meze!

Room Tip: Go for a superior suite

We stayed a week here in May. We were expecting much more in the way of luxury after reading the hotel details in brochures & on their website. Actually, it is a really nice hotel, which is pitching itself a little high and therefore is a bit if a letdown. However, there are some real positives -
1. lovely food, both in the very relaxing and comfortable bar & also in the restaurant. Excellent choice for breakfast
2. Pleasant rooms, all with sea view and comfy beds.
3. Pretty and quiet gardens and pool terrace
4. Large spa with plenty of treatments on offer
5 affable staff, on the whole

The let downs included -

1. The most pompous maitre'd we had ever come across!
2. Very thin mattresses on the pool loungers, so much so that it was hard to lay still for more than 10 minutes
3. Butler service was on offer to, for example, run a bath for you, but the bathroom was very like a premier inn bathroom and I don't think 2 people would fit in it very easily!
4. You cannot turn a regular hotel into a 'boutique spa hotel' by putting cushions on the bed. The rooms are fine but NOT luxurious.

There are 3 or4 restaurants to try close by, all of which were worth trying, and a handful of bars, which were not so great. For more variety you need to catch the bus or a taxi to the town or into Paphos. Both are easy to access, as is car hire, close to the hotel.

The beach is accessible directly from the hotel. Great for walking on or swimming from. There are jet skis & pedaloes available on the beach & a couple of bars for food & drink.

All in all, a nice hotel, but not quite achieving the luxury status it claims.

Room Tip: All rooms have sea views.

I booked this hotel as I wanted a relaxing few days near Paphos, but wanted to avoid the 'bucket and spade' crowd and find somewhere a little more peaceful.

I arrived quite late on Good Friday (Easter is a big holiday in Cyprus, so many things are shut and public transport isn't running at full capacity) so got a taxi from Pahpos airport to the hotel. It wasn't far, maybe just over 30 minutes.

The hotel sits on a rocky outcrop at the far end of Coral Bay, so far enough away from the central tourist part at the other end of the beach to be peaceful. As previous reviewers have said, the building itself is quite old, but it's been renovated and looks in good order.

Check-in was quick, and I'd booked a room with a seaview which was well worth the money. the balcony looked right along Coral Bay beach and also out into the bay. The swimming pool and garden were below, but as it's a Spa resort there is no noise as there were no young children staying.

The room was a nice size, and has been modernised but not totally renovated. So the room is quite dated, but they've freshened it up as much as they can and it looks fine. If I was in the room I was out on the balcony enjoying the view so it didn't affect my enjoyment at all. The bathroom is also clean and also showing it's age a little, but they've done a nice job in making it look presentable and it wasn't an issue.

Breakfast is good, taken downstairs in the large dining room and verandah by the pool. A good selection was always available so no problems finding somethnig that you like. Staff were very helpful, helped me rush through a late food order a few times, before the kitcehn closed when I'd been out and returned a bit alter than planned in the evening.

The local bus stops right outside the hotel, either to hop into the nearest town (not much there) or continue into Paphos (about 20 minutes). Even at Easter there was a frequent service, so I'm sure on non-public holidays you won't ever need to wait for long.

There are steps in the garden that lead down to the bay and the rocky outcrop, and it's then a few steps to get to the sandy beach. Was very quiet when I went as it was before the season started, so plenty of space to sit.

I'd recommend the hotel, I'd certainly stay here again (but would be perfect if they refurbed it, and brought it up to the latest standards)

Peaceful and very relaxing. Great location beside a clean sandy beach with clear blue water. There is a bus stop a few minutes walk from the hotel to go to the local restaurants and shops or further along the coast to Paphos.
Hotel room was large with a nice balcony, Very comfortable bed, safe and TV. Bathroom small and not luxury. Toilet seat loose, shabby tiles and small.
Breakfast is average. Hot food was generally lukewarm and grilled tomatoes either burnt black or non existent. Poor standard for a "luxury" hotel.
Service is very slow and waitresses moody and rarely smile. Customer service only exists to a few staff in the hotel which is a real shame as it could be fantastic.
Lunch service is very slow and again the customer service is a big let down. The hotel food is not cheap and again nowhere near 5 star service. Only 2 or 3 tables needed serving at any one time during lunchtime and the waitresses struggled to cope.
Pool area is nice with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. Padding on sunbeds is thin and old.
The only reason I would recommend this hotel is for the relaxation and location. Go not expecting "luxury" or customer service and you won't be let down.
It is a decent, clean hotel with a few nice touches but completely let down by standard of maintenance and the attitude of some of the staff.
