“excellent stay for kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

We stayed at the Aqua Sol for the bank holiday weekend on an all inclusive basis, excellent value for money based on 2 adults and 2 children for about £100 per night. Rooms have a dated 1990's feel but the water park and swimming pool more than makes up for the rooms, 2 observations on the room:
1. if you have kids and put them to bed before the entertainment ask for a room away from the stage.
2. There is only one allocated key per family, does take planning to gain access to room.
Food is good with a selection of kids meal, buffet main meal, salad and dessert buffet.
There is an all day grill next to the pool bar for a change from the buffet options.
Water park is excellent and the lazy river kept the kids entertained between using the main pool.
The evening enternainment was fun with a kids disco, bingo then various themed nights, one thing to bair in mind, there is no seperate smoking areas so we found ourselves surrounded by smokers.

Room Tip: Avoid room 1111, especially on karaoke night.

The Aquasol was pretty good, a solid 3 out of 5 in my opinion. It is definitely a family type resort and looks out into the sea, although it doesn't really have a beach.
Reception - was very good with helpful/knowledgeable staff, especially Niki and Andri - a real pleasure to deal with. We checked in very quickly and were allowed to change or room to a sea view with little hassle (I will talk about costs later). We were all inclusive so I can’t really comment about the price of food/drink on a self catering basis but it seems average.
The room - is a bit dated but clean and has everything you need – tv, small fridge, glasses, kettle etc. We were in room 1012 (studio) and it had a wonderful view of the pools/sea on a good sized balcony with table/chairs. Beds were comfortable and there were additional pillows, covers.
Aphrodite Restaurant – opened from 07:30 – 21:30 for breakfast(07:30-10:00), lunch(12:30-14:30) and dinner(19:00-21:30). It looks like a staff canteen and isn't very welcoming. Food was buffet style and although the food was well cooked, it was a bit limited. They ran themed nights (on a 7 night rotation such as Italian, Greek etc).
Aphrodite bar – opened from 17:00 – 01:00 and next to the restaurant and entertainment stage with lots of tables/chairs (roomy). Local drinks ok but nothing different/better than the other all inclusive resorts around Europe. They do have named brands but they are not part of the all inclusive deal. They serve ice cream there as part of the all inclusive deal.
Poseidon bar and restaurant - opened from 10:30 – 17:30. Beside the main pool, water park and sea. Food was great at lunchtime and I recommend it rather than the main restaurant. Cook (can’t remember her name) does well and the supervisor, Savvas, is really friendly/helpful. The barmaids, Olga and Irini are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. They also serve ice cream there during the day.
Water park – Although I didn't use this it has most things needed for kids and adults alike and is monitored by life guards. Good amount of slides, pool toys and sun beds to cater for all – a real selling point for the resort.
Play area – Also beside the main pool and has the usual climbing frames, swings etc.
Pools and pool area – 2 pools, the main pool which is quite big with a sallow and deep end. They play games there too such as water polo. The smaller pool is close by and is only 0.8m deep, ideal for smaller kids. All over there are lots of sun beds and umbrellas so you should be ok without the need to get up early to reserve them. The umbrellas are fixed to the ground so you can’t move them about. The sun beds are really comfortable. The whole area was very clean, as was the whole resort. One issue is that the toilet is beside the main building (downstairs) and although it’s big and clean, it seems to be the only one. I felt there could have been more toilets about the resort, especially for the water park as it’s quite a trek to get there (unless there is and I didn't spot them)
Entertainment – Various activities during the day run by Alex (very hard working, great fun and a real asset to the resort). At night there is bingo, quiz, usual dancers and singers – pretty much the same as elsewhere but worth watching. There is a kids club beside the main building but I don’t know what it’s like as we didn't have the children.
Resort facilities – The hotel has a gym, sauna, shop and a selection of games such as pool tables, air hockey etc. I didn't use the gym/sauna but it looks ok and will provide you with a good workout if that’s your thing. They also do massage and the prices are very reasonable. The shop is well stocked and open most of the day with reasonable prices. There is no lift in the hotel so be careful if you are higher up in the main building and not too fit.
Resort location – The hotel sits on the beach and is about a 10 minute walk (up hill) from the main strip where you can find several shops and lots of places to eat. The walk is not recommended if you are not as young/fit as you used to be. From the strip you can take the bus to Paphos (Bus Number 615) and costs 1.5 Euros each way. The bus is very regular (maybe every 15/20 mins) and the last bus back from Paphos is 00:35. Paphos is worth a visit and because it’s so easy, there is no excuse for not doing it.
Excursions – There are the usual excursions but we didn't do any from the hotel so I don’t know the details. They also do excursions from Paphos such as speed boat hire for as little as 30 Euros for 1 hour. Dune buggies and quad bike tours are also available and fun (also available on the strip beside the hotel).
Additional costs – It cost us 70 Euros (10 per day) to upgrade our room from a studio to a studio with a sea view. It would have been 105 Euros (15 per day) if we had wanted a 1 bed sea view. The room safe was 11.90 Euros with a 10 Euro deposit for the week. Late checkout is 30 Euros till 16:00, 40 Euros till 18:00 and 50 Euros till 20:00.
Value for money – I suppose this depends on what you paid to get there but I felt that we did get VFM for our week, despite the average food/drink. It is a nice hotel with great staff and made for a relaxing week. Although I wouldn't go back (mostly as I don’t like going back to places I’ve been) I probably wood recommend it to my friends.

Room Tip: Tip – best blocks are probably 18, 19, 20, 21, 23 and high up in the main building.

We have just returned from the Aqua Sol and are already looking to re-book :-). The hotel, staff & food were all faultless. We travelled with 3 kids (8yrs x2, 6yrs) & 1 infant (18mths) and they all had an excellent time and were very sad to leave. The waterpark was awesome & was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids, my husband & myself :-) Would highly recommed this hotel.

Room Tip: Block 18 is the best block as right next to the pool ;-)

Stayed in August 2013 for 2 long weeks.
The hotel is in a very poor condition. It's not a 4* or A+ as advertised on their web. Rooms are dated, strong smell, bathrooms full of ants (we've been to many hot tropical countries so don't tell me it's because of that). There is no condiments in the bathrooms. The beds are uncomfortable, maids clean rooms 5 times per week.
The food choices are extremely poor. Leftovers from previous meals and burgers, chips, pizzas, ect. Cyprus nights were good though.
If you wanna have a quiet breakfast then forget it as the cleaners scream out loudly their adventures...swiping the floor around you while you are trying to have a meal - all the dust sits on your plate...not what we would expect for breakfast!
The beach is a joke! There is no beach - a coast line only. The access to the sea is too rough. The water is crystal blue though.
The location is good. Only 10-15 minutes away from shops, bars, restaurants, bus stop (for Paphos). Paphos city is very beautiful - so much to do.
The water park is OK. It doesn't open or close on the times written, opens up to an hour later and closes earlier. Not enough beds so you have to line up to get one. There is a lazy river, area for smaller kids, few slides for bigger ones. One of the slides requires a rubber ring if you wanted to have a go but unfortunately the hotel ran out of them too...luckily bought it from a local shop. No towels provided.
Most of the staff are miserable, lazy, not professional however others work really hard to cover the lazy ones. George was the friendliest and most helpful, always with a smile.
If I recommend the hotel? Not to people I know!

What a fab hotel :-) Staff super friendly, super helpful, and the place clean and tidy. The rooms are fab too - quite rustic, but clean with plenty of towels and bedding. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable, the air con worked a treat when needed at night to sleep comfortably. The water park is fab for the kids, although we went with friends and other kids, and the adults had just as much fun if not more on the water slides. Took part in beach boulles, aquasize, pilates and the daily entertainment that the staff put on. Now, the Entertainment staff are the best!! Chloe and Alex were by far the friendliest entertainment staff I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, always had time for people, and made the kids feel really special with lots for them to do. The evening entertainment was all organised by them too, and really made the evening. You've got to experience Alexs' bingo bango to really appreciate the fun we had!! The food fresh, and salads super tasty, plenty to drink all day long, kids allowed ice cream as much as they'd like, and the drinks on the cocktail menu for the adults in the evening were very interesting...... my favourite being the Harvey Wallbanger!!! It's no Four Seasons, but for a family holiday with laughs and fun, and a beautiful setting, this is definitely the holiday for you. We have been twice now, once last July and then again in October, both times with friends in a large group. We all had a great time, and I can't wait to go back again this year :-)

Room Tip: would ask for a room away from the stage area as that can get noisy in the evening, if you've go...

Me and my husband first went to Aqua Sol in June 2013. We loved it that much we went back for our 1st wedding anniversary in October 2013. Both times were excellent, the rooms we clean, very big with a lovely balcony and the beds were very comfortable. The water park is great for both kids and adults and the lifeguards were very friendly. All the staff was amazing and really made you feel at home. Most of them recognised us from the 1st time we went which was very nice. The snack bar by the pool was were we spent a lot of our time, the food and service was brilliant and all the staff were lovely a especially Savvas the snack bar manager(mr banana) he really made you feel welcome and was such a nice man. The food in the buffet was also very nice not a huge selection but always something nice to eat. We went out most evenings up the raod to the strip theres some really nice bars and restaurants there if you fancy a night out of the hotel. We cant wait to go back a 3rd time, this time with our baby boy. Its a perfect family location. We have no complaints at all both holidays were great! The staff really make it for you as they cant do enough to make your stay more enjoyable just a few that we thought was brilliant were Savvas (mr banana) , Both George's behind the bar and George on reception. Looking forward to our next visit.
