On arrival the first room (222) we were shown to reeked of cigarette smoke and the balcony overlooked the road. We went to reception to ask to be moved and after 20 mins they offered us the choice of 2 other rooms, both overlooking the pool. We chose 226 as we didn't have to move our luggage far! The room was OK, basic but it had everything you needed. Apart from remote control for TV, we searched high and low and eventually went to reception, who told us we had to pay 10 euro deposit!!! Would have been nice if they had mentioned that on check-in!! Maid service was OK, however on 2 mornings we were disturbed at 9.30 by the maid ringing the door bell to get in to clean - bit early for my liking!!
The pool area was OK and fairly quiet so no problems with sunbeds. The bar only seemed to have 1 CD which got played on a constant loop - driving you insane by end of day 1... Thank god for headphones...
The Damon has a sister hotel - Kefalos Beach Village which had a very busy pool but was right on the beach with plenty of sunbeds. Access to sea limited as quite rocky, although there is an adapted place for children and general swimming.
Good choice of different restaurants close by, from Cypriot to Mexican to English to Chinese to Thai. Highly recommend the Phukhet Chinese/Thai and also Sisyphos Rooftop Steak restaurant. Loads of bars showing football and X-Factor etc...
Tomb of the Kings a short walk up the road plus easy to walk to Paphos centre or Paphos Harbour. Didn't use the local buses but seemed very good and plenty of others seemed to use them. Good new path along coast linking to Paphos Harbour by the Fort.
Highlight of our stay at the Damon was a cat with a litter of 6 kittens just by the pool area, really cute, playful bundles of fluff.....
Would go back to Cyprus again but would think twice before staying here again. We booked as part of a package so not cheap, if you got a good deal then it would be better value...

not long back from our 3rd visit to the damon hotel in cyprus.and we have already re-booked to go back in may 2011. once again we were welcomed back like family a nice bottle of wine was waiting in our room for us, and a welcome back note, it made us feel very special yet again. everyone remembered us it was like we had never been away, we were given a lovely room yet again over looking the pool .we spent many a night in our 2 weeks stay eating sat out on the balcony with a bottle or 2 of wine. when we did go out to eat mostly it was to our now good friends at the piatsa greka tavern which is just 2 minutes walk from the Damon. panicos who is the manger there spotted us wakling down the street the first night and jumped out of his seat and came rushing to meet us and welcome us back. and as always his wife who does all the cooking (panicos does say he taught her all she knows) looked after us so well her suckling pig is the best we have ever tasted. they always make you feel like part of their family.
even the man renting sunbeds down on the sea front (Andreous) welcomed us back like old friends.
as usual we went out on the wave dancer boat twice for the full day trip. great day out loads of fun sunshine and great entertainment. there is so much to do and see in paphos we could write all day. can't wait to go back again in may 2011. and see more of the beautiful island and to catch up with all wonderful friends

We have stayed in many places in Paphos over the years and we found the Damon to be very good value for money. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful and our check in was very quick. The apartment was spacious and very clean. Bed linen was changed 3 times per week and towels were changed every other day. We asked for extra pillows and got them straight away. An added bonus was being able to use the Kefalos facilities which is about 10mins walk away. There are many restaurants nearby. Our favourite is the Karlina which is just opposite the Tombs of the Kings.
We saw the Damon being built many years ago and now wish we had stayed there before but will definately stay there again.

We have just returned from the Damon apartments in Paphos. We were amazed at the size of our apartment which overlooked the second pool. The apartment was clean, omfortable and spacious with everything we needed for a self-catering holiday. The bed was really comfortable (although the pillows were old and stained and desperately in need of replacing) we slept more soundly than at home. The free air conditioning was a bonus and didn't keep us awake at all, it was needed regardless as temps in 30's the entire two weeks. The staff are really friendly, especially the Receptionist, Sofia and Anna, who works in the Breakfast room and in the bar. They both contributed greatly to making our holiday complete. The breakfast was ok, nothing exceptional but enough to keep us going all day, didn't have any lunch at all. As stated previously, you can use facilities at the Kefalos Beach Village, but to be honest I think the Damon is the better hotel. It is in a better location with access to local bars, clubs, restaurants and buses and only a 20min walk to the harbour. The Kefalos has its own beach, but it is very crowded (even in September) and the sunbeds are much too close to each other. I awoke from an afternoon snooze, turning over and coming face to face (literally) with a complete stranger. The staff aren't as friendly as at the Damon either. Also beware of Time Share Touts who tend to hover around the streets near the Kefalos and also by the harbour. There opening line is "Are you English", so be prepared. We tried Fat Mamas as suggested by other reviewers, but to be honest we found it really cheesy and the staff false, the food wasn't that good either. I suppose everyone likes different things, but it definitely wasn't for us. We visited Thomas' Jungle Bar several times. it doesn't look much from outside, but the food is excellent (3 courses for 8 euros 50 cents) and the drinks are reasonable too. Kato Paphos is also another place to go for cheap but good food. Again 3 courses from 8-10 euros). We hired a car along the road from the Jungle Bar and drove to Ayia Napa to view part of the deserted town of Famagusta, (which is so sad). We visited Limassol, Troudos mountains, and the Arkanas area, as well as travelling by bus to Coral Bay Beach which is only 1 euro each way . Looking forward to next year, maybe going twice as we enjoyed it so much.

just got back from a great week in Pathos! what a lovely surprise to find the Damon hotel apartments, it was clean, friendly staff, free air conditioning (and we did abuse it). Everything worked in the room, fridge, cooker, toaster etc. Rooms cleaned daily even if you'd had a lie in til mid day! we had linens and towels changed 3 times during our 7 night stay. very quiet and peaceful lovely to relax. In the evening we visited bar street, which was good, although alittle quiet as season coming to an end. but Robin hood pub was good as was flairs and the rainbow club. great music. the best thing is not getting hassled all the time, the club's PR people weren't pushy and the ones in flairs were particually helpful when my friend felt ill one night.

Best places to eat for me were sisyfos, zorba's and fat mamma's!!

can't fault this holiday at all.

We booked these apartments because of the reviews on this site. Not expensive - we've travelled a lot in Greece and around the world, so I think our expectations were not unrealistic. Location is good - near the Tombs of the Kings. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Rooms generally clean. A/C free and effective. Kitchen 'OK' - though one ring not working and a mismash of odd knobs fitted. Sheets and towels supplied were the greyist I have ever seen - clearly been in service for too long. Bedside radio not working - we discovered why - no power lead from the unit to the mains!. TV has only BBC World in English - not unusual, but the satellite feed to the entire complex for this channel failed for 2 days and repairs were at Greek Maybe Time pace!
Bathrooom was awful - door could not be fully opened bcause it would hit the hand basin. Water leaked onto the floor - then the painted bath surface failed and handfuls of paint joined us in the bath!
Breakfast buffet OK - could have been hotter, but you get what you pay for.
We wouldn't go back - these apartments need a refurb.
