I would first say I was spoiled in November by staying at Louis King Jason so my expectations were much higher than maybe they should have been and you get what you pay for.

The hotel is lovely, with a brilliant hotel manager nicos who always makes the effort to speak and ask how you are. The staff are also brilliant, although maybe a little overworked with only one staff member on at breakfast and tea, but they handle it with a friendly smile and always happy to help. The rooms are basic but very clean.
I would say the only thing that let the hotel down was the food, we stayed half board, after first couple of days we didn't go down for breakfast, again this is just our preference as we don't like toast cheese ham etc, there was boiled eggs but you get a bit bored of it. Instead, we stayed in bed longer and went out for lunch. The teas were very Cypriot, it was different buffet meal every night but we was not keen. The fresh fruit salad and icecream was amazing though.

They have entertainment everynight with Jamie as the DJ compere, its a good night if you don't fancy venturing out to bar street etc.

I would recommend the hotel, but remember you get what your paying for, you cant get cheap holiday and expect 5 star treatment.

My partner and I have just returned from a 3 week stay at this hotel...good job we enjoyed Paphos otherwise could have been a long 3 weeks! Food awful underscooked and boring, hotel very dated, desperately in need of a refurb. Plus point very good helpful staff who work hard.
Go to Paphos but not this hotel. hard pushed to give it a 2 star rating!

Did my time from the 4 to 18th sep 2013, room not bad but the cleaners are kept short of cleaning materials the result shows, staff are very good and very hard workers the management indifferent, the food is a lot to be desired and although i was half board i eat out a lot due to the same breakfast and an unwillingness to do enything other than say yes but that is extra ? chef try hard but the cut backs and tightness of the management means he's no chance of puting on consistent good meals, the place caters for the russian market we brits do not count so in short find somwhere else to go .

Having read other reviews before arriving at the hotel my friend and I were not expecting a brilliant hotel, however nothing could have prepared us for what we encountered. The hotel is dark and dingy I now know what it feels like to be a Chilean miner!!!
Our room was not clean, the bathroom door was broken and the furniture was ripped. The bed was infested with tiny bugs and was like laying on a plank of wood, the only good thing about the room was the 1980's telefunken television.
My friend and I got locked out on the balcony for 30 minutes as the lock was broken however we took this time to admire the down town Baghdad like scenery!!
We stayed on a B&B board basis we ate breakfast once there is nothing more than can be said.
We were in Cyprus for my sisters wedding so luckily we had family staying in hotels nearby, most nights we stayed in their rooms as we could not face staying in this hotel.
On our departure day we had booked a late check out but was told at 10:30 that we had to vacate the room by 12:00 despite not being collected until 21:00 that evening. There was no where secure to leave our luggage apart from the worlds oldest games room with no lock on the door allowing anybody access.
In summary this hotel is shocking, I'm sure in 1968 it was lovely however nothing has changed since I would strongly urge anyone contemplating on staying at this hotel to spend a little extra and stay at one of the much nicer hotels in Paphos failing this I would recommend staying at one of the local building sites it would be far cleaner!!

Hotel is very well located and is only 10 minutes walk from Kato Paphos for all the main bars and restaurants. Staff at the hotel are very friendly and have a personal touch when speaking to and dealing with residents, instead of the main stream chain hotels were you are treated like a number.

Will definitely stay at this hotel again and am already looking at booking next year.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Paphiessa. It is a basic 3 star hotel, just like all others you find in the Mediteranian, rooms in need of of a repaint. The room was reasonably clean with the usual cracked tiles in the bathroom and fittings requiring a good clean. We booked on a self catering basis, there was a 2 ring electric hob which only one worked but we don't go on holiday to cook,we just wanted a fridge. The bath was stained and the sink was cracked but you see this in this type of accommodation. We arrived late at night so next morning we decided to buy breakfast in the Hotel, bad idea, the scrambled eggs were tasteless, spicy hot dog sausages and cold beans, the continental style was not very appetising either.Other guests told us the evening meal was also not very good and some of these were people were regular visitors to the Paphiessa and the standard had gone down but as we did not eat there I can't really comment on that aspect. You can get a full English breakfast for 2 to 5 euros at different pubs on the way to the harbour. One couple who were in their third year at the Paphiessa had booked 2 weeks on half board with a free week on a b&b basis which they upgraded before they arrived to half board and regtretted it.
The reception area is very good, the bar is small but clean and appealing, the pool is large with plenty of sunbeds and cleaned every day.the snack bar at lunchtime is expensive eg 8 euros for a toastie, 6 euros for a cheese sandwich
The 15 minute walk to the harbour is about right where there is plenty of bars and decent restaurants where some offer a three course meals for 10 euros. We found a local Taverna a few minutes walk from the hotel as we walked a different way to the harbour and they offered a three course meal for 10 euros with lots of choices and it was a very high standard oif food.
The entertainment at nights in the Hotel is average, Kareoki 3 times a week, a fun quiz which is pot luck who wins,a live act who sounded like a kareoki singer.
I have read the other reviews and noticed that people who have given the hotel very good marks all mention what a good time they had in the bar.
All things considered we had a good holiday and got what we paid for(a last minute booking for a good price). I don't think we would return to the Paphiessa, we would choose a different hotel.

We have just returned from Cyprus and have to say, this is the worst place I have ever stayed in! We stayed there for 2 days, then managed to find a better hotel for rest of our holiday! The room has not seen paint since it was first done! Hair over the floor and the worst thing, pulled back the bed sheets and ants in the bed!! We checked and the ants were coming in from all the cracks and holes in the room! (There were many) its about 15 mins walk to get to the sea front with the shops and restaurants. Not useful if you have children. The pool looked unclean, I didn't even want to try it. When we did sit outside, there were a few cockroaches. It may be cheap, but you pay €9 a day for air con and that doesn't last for long. It was just dirty and it ruined our holiday by staying there. I would strongly recommend looking at different accommodation. If you want to be sleeping with ants then this is the right place for you.
