“Wonderful Holiday”
Reviewed 10 July 2013

Stayed at the Louis Imperial 19th June till the 3rd July. We stayed in room 202.The Hotel is a 4 star with 5star food and 5star staff. Nothing's to much trouble for the staff. The management should be congratulated on a well run hotel.Shall certainly be returning in the not to distant future. The location is spot on.You can walk right down to Paphos harbour ,which take's about thirty minutes depending how fast you walk.Another nice touch was on some day's the weather was in the high nineties ,and the staff came round with fresh water melon or ice cold towels. In the room the fridge was stocked with soft drink's and water which was free. The only complaint my wife had was that the hair dryer wasn't powerful enough, which i thought was a bit petty.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 202 overlooking the main entrance/car park, which was quiet.

This isn't such a bad hotel really and it gets some things right - the service is good and the rooms are as you would expect. However it comes up short on other counts - the facilities for kids are a bit lacking and I found the food a little uninspiring.

We were greeted on arrival with a drink and some nibbles - a nice touch. Check-in was hassle-free and the staff were very efficient and polite. Our room was clean and looked as though it had been recently decorated with a double bed for the adults and 2 singles for the kids (6 and 4 in our case) through a slight partition. All very much as we expected. The hotel's public areas are all nicely set out and the all-inclusive package includes some cocktails which is also a nice touch. There's free wi-fi in the lobby and a small games room, shop and excursion desks. All pretty predictable and not at all exceptional.

The dining experience was very informal (always confuses me why hotels have a "no shorts at dinner" policy for men and then allow men to wear shorts at dinner - I don't care what people wear but if the hotel does then it should enforce its own rules). The service was good but the staff were very keen to clear the tables so if adult and child were off to the buffet and the other adult and child had to rush off to the toilet (as invariably happens) you often returned to a table devoid of the food you were half way through eating. The children's meal selection was very limited and not particularly easy for the children to get at - the lids on the trays where the food was kept ward were very heavy and there was no salad at child-height. If you have older children they might be OK but mine certainly weren't. Breakfast was little better with bizarre form of bacon and sausages in the warm section. But otherwise an excellent selection of breads and meats if you wanted something different. For adults I imagine the dining experience would have been better - there was a reasonable range of hot meals which were adequate. There was only one cooking station though and queues formed quickly here. On the whole, though, I've had worse and I've had better.

Around the pool getting a sun bed proved a challenge until we discovered the "no reserving sun beds with towels" policy was ignored. I've stayed at places before where if the staff don't see someone on the sun bed for an hour they take the towels and all other stuff away. We noticed people reserving sunbeds before breakfast and then disappearing all day, returning just before dinner for a relaxing beer by the pool. And this at a time when finding a sun bed was quite difficult. Again I don't really care either way but if there's a policy then enforce it. The kids pool is more of a puddle and the main pool is far too deep to leave little ones alone in. My two can swim OK but when the only part of the pool they can stand up in is the part used for all the daily pool-based activities you can't feasibly leave them to it. At least I couldn't anyway. We ended up going to the water park for a couple of days for a bit of variety. It wouldn't take much to extend the kids pool a little which would make this hotel a much more attractive option.

The kids club was a little disappointing too. Adina - the lovely lady who ran it - tried her very best and the kids loved her but it's in a dingy room upstairs next to the restaurant and I just think if the hotel spent some more money, with staff like Adina, it would be just excellent.

If you're thinking of going to the Imperial Beach with small children then there are probably better hotels (owned by the same chain as well I think). Adults or those with older children will probably love this hotel. We were originally bound for the Caribbean as our experience of all-inclusive there is much better and, all things considered, it's often cheaper and better quality. It's not that the hotel was no good - it's just that the description of it and the way it describes its facilities didn't really match our experience.

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you for some feedback following your holiday at the Louis Imperial Beach.

We are glad to hear that you had a smooth check-in process and were delighted by the warm greeting of our friendly and eager-to-please staff. Moreover, we are happy to read that you found our rooms to be of absolute cleanliness and comfort and that you were pleased with all the complimentary extras that our hotel provides. We are thrilled to hear that you were delighted by our cocktails that are included in our All Inclusive package and that you enjoyed the selection of our buffet. Thank you for your feedback regarding our Santelino Yummy Corner and rest assured that we will proceed with alterations to the menu this week, not just at Imperial but at all our properties. Our guests have pointed us towards a healthier and simpler variety of children food and we hope to live up to their expectations from now on. Furthermore, regarding the dress code and the reservation of sunbeds, we hope you understand that we do inform our guests about these rules however it is not always easy to police the situation. We unfortunately cannot do much more then draw their attention to our policies and are sorry to hear that this displeased you; at the end of the day if someone is uncomfortable wearing long trousers in the 40 degree heat you can't make them do because their overall dining experience will suffer. All in all, we are sorry to hear that we did not live up to your expectations, and would like to encourage you to try our one of our other Louis Hotels, such as the Louis Phaethon Beach and the Louis Creta Princess, which might be more suitable to your family needs.

We hope that despite some negatives you still had a nice time in Cyprus, and that you will give us a second chance to impress you with our hospitality in one of our Louis Hotels.

Yours truly,

The Management

Just back from a week's holiday with my husband and 20 year old son at Louis Imperial Beach and really wishing we had booked 2 weeks. Hotel accommodation was great as was the food and the service from all the lovely staff throughout the hotel. Special mention to Florin who kept us all entertained whilst serving us with copious amounts of cocktails every evening. The thing that makes this hotel absolutely outstanding is the wonderfully talented animation team who entertained us from morning through to evening. We would like to thank Malin, Mathilda, Jack, Emily, Kizzy, Addeena and Costa for making this the best holiday we have had! Can't wait to rebook for next year but for 2 weeks instead of 1!

Room Tip: Don't pay for late checkout if u have a late return flight. The hotel offers a shower room which...

Dear guest,

Thank you for a few lovely lines about the Louis Imperial Beach.

It is our greatest thrill to hear that your only regret is not having booked your holiday for two weeks instead of one, which you are already planning to amend next year by staying longer at our beautiful property. We are delighted to hear that you indulged yourself in our various selection of delicacies, and were pleased with the friendly service of our staff. Moreover, it joys us to read that you were happy with our rooms and that you were especially amazed by our animation team, which did an outstanding job at keeping you entertained throughout the day. We could not be more excited by your endearing praise and for speaking so highly of our marvellous establishment.

We look forward to welcoming you again next year to the Louis Imperial Beach.

Before I describe all the rest, I have to state that the two highlights of our stay were the service and the potatoes. The service was almost faultless. Nearly everything that we'd expect to be done was done effectively and efficiently. Any service request was dealt with and dealt with promptly. Highlighting potatoes may seem a bit weird but amongst the varied and variable food, nearly every potato dish offered was excellent.
The hotel was a good choice and met expectations.
The room was spacious and well equipped. The air conditioning worked well. We had a very good sea view. The rooms have been refurbished and are bright and clean - but they are also clear of any decoration or pictures. There was more storage space than we needed and that is a real rarity. We had loads of drawers and shelves. On the downside, the hair dryer in the bathroom looked like it could be ready to be claimed by the Cyprus Department of Antiquities. We also got next to nothing in the way of toiletries in the bathroom. This wouldn't have mattered if we knew in advance but we would normally expect a reasonable selection in a 4 star hotel.
The public rooms were a bit of a mix of good and indifferent. The Fontana Bar was comfortable and service was good (except for our last night when they appeared to be a server short). The dining room was spacious, bright and comfortable. But the mezzanine room and the 'Empire Ballroom' were in need of a lot of care and attention.
The food provided in the main restaurant was varied but also variable. There were lots of dishes that I liked and always enough for me to eat well and enjoy most of what I had. But there were several days when the combinations available seemed incongruous.
The red wine available as part of our all-inclusive deal was drinkable but not good and often served up cold (it tasted better - not great once warmed up).
We didn't go to the Mura Asian restaurant - although I was keen. But we heard good reports from whoever we spoke to who had eaten there.
The outdoor pool and the surrounding seating seemed a bit squashed but we spent our time in other parts of the grounds. We always got sunbeds easily. But the hotel was clearly not full.
Overall not a bad choice; we got a spacious and comfortable room, comfort and space in the bar, in the dining room and in the grounds as well as a high level of service and the scrumptiousness of the potatoes.
But I've given 4 out of 5 to hotels that were better.

Room Tip: I'd expect the sea view rooms in the east wing would provide the better sea view until something...

Dear guest,

Thank you for choosing the Louis Imperial Beach as your holiday destination.

We are thrilled to hear that our hotel lived up to your expectations and that you had an overall pleasantly relaxing holiday. We are glad to read that you enjoyed the spaciousness and comfort of our rooms with their beautiful views, taking note of our refurbishments, and that you found our staff to be friendly and efficient in their service. Moreover, we are delighted by your praise for the choice and selection of our cuisine, indulging in its spectacular delicacies, especially our delicious potato dishes. We thank you for bringing your opinion about our red wine and the selection of toiletries to our attention, which we duly note for future improvements. For the latter, please note that we refrain from providing individual portions to stay in line with our Sustainability Policy; this is available for all to see at the Louis Hotels Eco Spot at the lobby and stipulates that we must try and reduce the amount of packaging used by our hotel. Nevertheless, despite these minor issues, we are glad to read that you had a splendid stay at our beautiful hotel.

We hope to see you soon again at the Louis Imperial Beach.

Sincerely yours,

The Management.

This was our third time at the Louis and once again the staff just made the holiday fantastic. so friendly and attentive from the front desk to the Fontana and pool area it is smiles and greetings.
Rooms have had a nice makeover although we never had any problems with the way they were, understandably they did need an update. The bar staff and waiters on couldn't do enough for you in bringing your drinks and taking orders frequently not like some all inc hotels we have stayed in.The food was always varied and replenished no matter what time you chose to eat at lunch or in the evening. The pool bar staff kept up a busy walk about serving drinks at your lounger !The animation team were rather amateur compared to the previous 2 years, friendly but not our cup of tea. I am afraid some people need to get on the ouzo a bit more so they don't wake at the crack of dawn to claim a sunbed around the pool. We took whatever was available as beds always became free during the day. We will be returning again and highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: sea or pool view is a must and worth paying the extra!
