“Great holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2010

I have read other reviews of this hotel from people who stayed at the same as us, and am amazed at some of the comments. We had a fantastic week. The food could not be faulted and we found the staff polite and friendly, particularly the bar staff. The location is great, a flat walk into Paphos takes about 20 minutes. True the hotel could do with a bit of up updating but it more than made up for it in other ways.Cyprus is expensive so we opted for all inclusive which meant all our meals, drinks and snacks were included. We felt that was worth doing. We shall definately be going back to this hotel

Just back from 7 nights and found the hotel better than we expected. The public areas are very clean and spacious, our 2nd floor bedroom had a lovely view over the sea and out towards the harbour.
Meals are lovely with plenty choice. The all inc drinks have a wide selection, served in proper glasses incl pints and the bar staff who are mainly East European students on 6 months work experience work very hard and are always friendly and courteous.
Lovely sea view and breeze if you sit in the garden area. Always plenty available sunbeds.
Sara and the entertainment team are great but never force anyone to take part in anything. Plenty of volunteers for archery, boules etc.
A pleasant 25 min walk to the harbour/market area

Second visit to this hotel with my mother. Our last visit was June last year. You can't fault the food, service from staff and cleanliness of the place. Not really suited to families with kids, as this hotel is really for the more mature in years. My only complaint was having to rush down on a morning to save a sunbed. Entertainment at hotel wasn't great, but the team did try to please and work very hard to please. Otherwise, we had a lovely relaxing break. Spent most evenings chilling in the bar at the hotel, but we also ventered out to see Elvis at Splash Bar and a drag act at Evis Bar. Both bars within walking distance.

I have read the previous review "Disappointed" with interest.

I suppose it depends on what you are looking for. We were looking for peace and quiet and good food and we received everything we wanted. To quote from " Disappointed ": -- "The food is excellent with there was always plenty of choice to suit everyone. A different theme (Italian, Chinese, Middle Eastern etc) at every evening meal meant that we never got bored."
We have stayed in numerous "four-star" hotels and they vary in quality. What makes this one stand out from the crowd was the food. The chef is imaginative and the use of herbs and spices is such that each dish has a different flavour. Magnificent salads and good fruit round it off.

As for the peace and quiet, it could not have been better. The pool was excellent and with no problems with sun loungers and shades. There was plenty of "animation" if you wanted it and the entertainment team really went out of their way.

We met many people who keep going back to his hotel and can understand why.

I think someone mentioned that the beds were very hard. We asked for an additional mattress and received it. There was no problem after that. Our air conditioning was fine.

The staff were very polite and efficient.

Sadly, Cyprus is in the Eurozone and very expensive. We met a few Cypriots and folk who had sold up in the UK to live there and they were hurting.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a nice quiet break.

I was extremely disappointed with the Louis Imperial and would in no way class this as a four star hotel in comparison to others I have stayed in abroad. There were some very good bits. The food is excellent with there was always plenty of choice to suit everyone. A different theme (Italian, Chinese, Middle Eastern etc) at every evening meal meant that we never got bored. The pool area is fantastic with plenty of sun loungers and the gardens are wonderful (although loungers in this area were often all reserved very early). The entertainment team try very hard and do a good job.
However.... the rooms and the corridor areas are very dated. There is carpet in all these areas and it is tatty and smells of smoke. I was put in a room that had a (locked)adjoining door and you could literally hear every word from the couple next door, to the extent that it was virtually like sharing a room. They were smokers and the smell of smoke came through the door. They also got up at 7am and put there television on every morning. There was a major flood one day right outside the room from a water pipe which brought the ceiling down and seriously flooded the corridor and into our room. The lifts are extemely dodgy with always one out of service and there are no stairs (other than the fire exits which you are not suppose to use). Service ranged from excellent to very poor with no real clue of which you were going to get. Internet was 5 euros for an hour but the Avanti Village up the road offer wi-fi free but it is a 10 minute walk.
All in all I would say it was a very average hotel which uses it's nice reception area and gardens to pose as a good hotel. I did meet and talk to a lot of people who come back to the Louis Imperial year after year but whatever the attraction is, it was lost on us.

Have stayed at the Imperial Louis four times and it only gets better and better. Food, staff, service, location you name it. This is a great hotel ready to satisfy the most demanding guest. Keep up the good work eveyone. We'll surely be back very very soon

After our 12th visit. we will not return to this hotel. The rooms are out dated. Sick of seeing the same entertainment. The new bar manager was constantly rude to his staff in front of customers throughout our stay. The prices are expensive. In general, this hotel has gone downhill over the past year. To me they seem to be doing a lot of penny pinching at our expense. Does not seem to be managed as well as it has been over the years gone by.
