“Lovely mosaics but site generally not well maintained”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

The mosaics in this place are nice, especially the ones under cover, but the ruins are not really that well maintained. I have seen ruins in other places that are in a far better condition. The site is big, so there are quite a few "buildings" to see, but apart from a few pillars, the only thing left of them is the footings - there is not really anything that is over head height. It costs €3.40 to get in, which is fairly cheap, but if you are intending to see other sites in the area such as the tombs of kings and the castle, the entrance fees start to mount up. It cost us over €30 to see various sites around the island in the week we were there. I'd advise that you pick a few sites to see while you are in Cyprus and don't try and see everything as a lot of the sites are quite similar. If you are in the area with time on your hands, this is probably worth seeing, but don't bother going out of your way to see this site.

“A must visit”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

There is no choice, this is a must visit World Heritage Site. Failure to visit the mosaics will be a loss to your soul. Take water, vending machines dont always work

“Fantastic - don't miss it.”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

A wonderful and huge area to look at. Very cheap to get it and they make sure you can buy water half way round from the vending machines 50c a bottle. You can imagine the "houses" with the vast mosaic floors and can spend a long time just following the stories through the floor tiles. This is a must for anyone who likes history, or just wants to look at how people used to live. Don't go in the height of the sun. We went at 9.30am and it was already getting very very hot. By the time we left after a good couple of hours, we were absolutely drenched!

“Great Mosaics”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

Key here is to get the timing right.

Opens at 8.30am and closes at 7.30pm in the summer. Going in the middle of the day during May to October will make for a miserable experience.

Fairly big sight, limited shade so bring some water and sensible shoes.

Well worth the effort for some world class mosaics and a great setting.
