I have got to say I stayed in this hotel in March, this was the in the middle of a refurbishment, I would not mind if it was just a paint and decorating job, but this was a whole new floor being built on top of the second floor, banging, drilling at 7am ,dust and debri all over the patio and the pool area, no green netting to protect the guest, while they sat around the pool not that many people did because the noise was rediculous. I am not very happy with the company I went through because they must have known this work was going on. The security was not good, changed my room after the first night, you had to pay for 20 euros for the remote for the tv which there was only 1 programme BBC world news for the British, 20 euros for the safe, 10 euros for the fridge which did not even work, I was passed complaining at this stage because no one was listening to you. The receptionist were very rude, they even said to me at one point when I complained about the building work (what building work), like they knew nothing. The reception staff need to go on a course for customer services. The bar was a joke when it was open just before dinner you would ask for your drinks and the bar man would get the glasses and go into another room for the drinks looks really nice on the photos just like everything does. The breakfast was the same every day and not even hot, the food was the same at dinner not hot to make it worse the plates were cold, so any warm food soon got cold,at dinner time there was a cover put on the drinks machine so we could not have any warm drinks with our meal we were half board I at lease expected to have a coffee with my evening meal. This was just a money making machine at this hotel charging for every little thing. Be aware of the noise at night from the disco and night life around. The only good thing was being central as Cyprus is beautiful.

Stayed for a week in March and wished i had stayed at home, the hotel is in the middle of a major refurbishment, the top two floors are completely gutted, work started at 7 in the morning until late afternoon, very noisy and dusty, the air conditioning wasn't working, the lift was broken, and no hot water for one day. You have to pay extra for everything in the room, the safe the fridge even the remote control! The only good point is the central location.

Room Tip: Dont book this hotel.

Good points:
- the location. This hotel is very well situated - just up from the main waterfront street. A better location than the more "resort" type hotels up on the hill.
- breakfast had a good range of hot and cold options

Not so good:
- we had several issues when we stayed. On our first night a really loud nightclub/disco started up around 10pm and went on to the early hours. In the morning we asked if we could be moved to a room on the road side (same side as the entrance) as it was further from the nightclub. The front desk lady acted like she had no idea what I was talking about and was quite rude - though I'm sure it is a frequent issue for guests on a Fri/Sat night (another guest also asked to be moved on the same day as us). They did end up moving us, and that room was much quieter - so if staying over the weekend, definitely try to stay on the entrance side of the hotel.

- Unfortunately the second room we had, had issues with the cold water - i.e, there was almost none, meaning having a shower was impossible as it was boiling hot, and the toilet took 15mins to refill. Again we raised this with front desk and were told "you should have told me this earlier"...erm okay, not sure how we would have known before attempting to have a shower... we then found out that a number of other guests were having the same problem and had already raised this with the front desk - so this was not new, news to her at all. If it had been dealt with in a more positive manor it wouldn't have been a big deal i.e. if she had said "we are currently having a water issue and are working to resolve it", instead of acting like it was us who had the problem. The water did come right later that day.

- the air con was "broken" while we were there - it was chilly inside at night and some heat would have been really good - I suspect it was just turned off to save power (as it wasn't working in either of the rooms we had).

- Renovations to both the lift (out of service during our stay) and exterior started at 7am every morning - which shows a complete lack of respect for guests. In one hilarious incident we heard another guest complain to the front desk lady, who completely denied that the banging was from the hotel work - the guy who complained said he could see them working on the hotel from his balcony, but she still denied it. It would have been good to have the option of sleeping in while on holiday!

- Whilst the breakfast was decent, the evening meal was average at best. I would strongly recommend that if you do stay here you stay on a B&B basis only and not half board.

Overall it was a decent base, and it our room had been ok with no issues first time around (or even second) I probably would have rated it a 3 because the location is really good - but poor customer service unfortunately lets this place down and I would neither return nor recommend it to friends.

Had a week at the Dionysos in Pafos. Great location for this intimate boutique type hotel - right in the middle of town. Easy walk to the sights, the harbour and archealogical sites. Some refurbishment work being completed during the stay but staff worked hard to keep disruptions to a minimum. The work is nearly finished and the good news is the hotel will be even better. My group of friends thoroughly enjoyed their time here. The staff in the bistro were helpful and all had a great sense of humour adding to our fun. Will be back next year.

The room we had was okay. It was clean but worn. There was virtually no storage space so most of our clothes remained in suitcases, five coat hangars between two. There was no heating/ air conditioning in our room for the duration of our five nights / six day stay and at this time of year it is nippy at night. We asked for extra blankets and got one between the twin beds. There was a TV in the room but it needed tuning in, (the instructions were either in Russian or Greek). You had to pay a €20 deposit for the remote control. Small hair dryer, no tea or coffee making facilities the mini bar fridge was locked. Only plugs by the TV, with the advent of iPads and phones more are needed round the room. No WIFI in the rooms We were on half board. The breakfast was plentiful but in terms of quality okay. The evening meal on a couple of occasions left a lot to be desired. Looked as though it had been around for a long time. The staff were friendly but very few native Cypriots. The swimming pool was not ready for use and there was a lot of maintenance going on. The lift was out of action the whole time. Attached to the hotel was the La Place Royale cafe (10% reduction for hotel guests). Good coffee, snacks/meals and cocktails and FREE WIFI. The hotel does have a good location but is certainly no more than 3*s. This was early in the season so there were a lot of places closed which gave an appearance of a shanty town. There is no beach in Paphos or surrounding areas, only pebbles. The local bus service is excellent, getting round the island is cheap and efficient, best thing to do at this time of year. Notwithstanding all of this it was nice to leave snowy shores and have some winter sunshine.

Rooms are very cold at night. Contractors started banging at 7am Saturday morning. Long weekend holiday it wasn't relaxing. We had to pay for a cup of milk when everything was inclusive. Bad experience. Wouldn't recommend.

Arrived on the off chance as previous hotel was dire, thankfully they had rooms available. Clean and comfortable and great location close to harbour and excellent restaurants. Bit tired but was informed that it closes in 2 weeks for a make over. Staff helpful and friendly. Would definitely use again.
