“Return trip goes well.”
Reviewed 15 July 2012

Just back from our second visit here. Booked through Thompson - flights on time and transfer in small bus briiliantly handled. Check-in handled superbly with a bonus that as returning guests we got a 10% discount card too !! I thought last year that this hotel was too good to be true but it excelled again. I echo all other comments - quiteness / cleanliness but above all the fact that each member of staff seems to have the capability of, and the time/willingness to, talk to you and make you feel special and welcome. Some familiar faces from last year - Hotel Manager is very visible as is the Restauarant Manager too. Exec Chef also spends time around the place watching carefully what's on offer. Again this year - food good and we had a front on facing sea view room (2257) which was great. ( Tip for previous guest's comment re air conditioning going off when you're out of the room with the key - stick an old credit card / similar in the slot - it stays on then ) The fellow guests all seem pretty laid back and by the end of the week lots of around the pool relationships are formed. Grounds are tended well - all sunbeds are cleaned and positioned daily - we made a bit of an error booking B & B rather than half board at the outset but an email to the hotel sorted it - all paperwork ready on arrival.

An excellent hotel where everything is of a very high standard from the cleanliness of the hotel to the delicious food in the restaurants. Our room was small but equipped with everything we could possibly need. There was complimentary wine and fruit waiting for us in our room upon our arrival. Rooms have kettle and fridge and tea, coffee etc are replenished daily. Nice toiletries in the bathroom also replenished. Really nice modern tiled bathroom with rain-shower as well as the normal shower head. We had comfy beds, flat screen TV, hairdryer, iron and air conditioning. Robes and slippers are provided and there is an in-room safe which is free of charge.
The staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them, and they all speak good English. The pool area and gardens are lovely and a relaxing place to laze in the sunshine. The staff work very hard and keep the hotel, pool area and gardens spotlessley clean.
We stayed half board and ate in the buffet restaurant. It was great, there is lots of variety and plenty of choice with many different foods to choose from, and it was always delicious.

Lots of little extra touches to make guests feel special, like ice cold cloths and cold fruit which were handed out around the pool and gardens each afternoon whilst we were relaxing in the hot sun.
We were also invited to meet the management, and provided with free cocktails and nibbles whilst the manager told us of recent improvements to the hotel.
I would say this is the best 4 star hotel I have ever stayed in, at home or abroad, it has lots of facilities. It is an adults only hotel which makes it a quiet and relaxing place to be. We had a fantastic holiday and would definitely like to return.

Room Tip: Sea View rooms are quieter and have a great view but you do have to pay extra for them. The mountain...

We stayed at this hotel the last week of June we were on Bed and Breakfast, there was everything there for you freshley cooked omlettes pancakes you name it they had it even Champange, The staff were all lovely nothing was a problem to them. I would also like to mention Harris the Concierge who worked the nightshift he was a lovely gentleman who Knew everyone's name and there roon No.If you want Peace this is the place to go all you could here was the lapping of the water in the pool or from the sea,They also had a nice touch by giving you ice cold face clothes or iced fruit when you were lying in the sun, as it was very hot it was much needed. They have a Happy Hour 6-7 and they had every Cocktail on the list. The hotel is about a Half hour walk into The Harbour you can either walk along the sea front or out the main road.passing plenty Bars and Restaurants Paphos has a Very Good Bus service you can Pay 3Euros a day and jump on and of the buses. I will definately return to this Hotel.

Booked this hotel in July 2011 for 30th June this year as a surprise for my wife's 60th. Got e-tickets on 18th June then a phone call on 20th June to say hotel was overbooked and that there were no spaces at any of the other hotels in the group !! No other reason given which is a shocker given that we booked 11 months ago and had a receipt confirming booking. Stranger still is that 8 of us had booked, 4 couples, but only 6 of us got shunted out. As a result they have now lost 8 potential bookings in the future - not that the owners care as they seem to run half of Paphos - hotels, flats buldings etc

We stayed at The Athena Royal for the first time in June 2012 on recommendation from our friends. We have used other Constantinou Bros hotels many times in the past mainly the Pioneer Beach which is a little further down the road. Like the Pioneer this is a adults only hotel. Everything about the hotel is of a high standard, from the reception/restauraunt staff service, excellent quality and choice of food and general cleanliness,
There are plenty of sun beds/shades so there is no need to get up early to reserve your spot. A large expanse of grass dotted with olive and palm trees leads down to the sea.. Guest age group is mainly over 50. We will be going back again next year.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are quieter.

We have recently returned to the Athena Royal Beach Hotel, Paphos after a 3 year break. We were very happy to see that the excellent standards experienced in 2009 were still evident and in some respects excelled yet again.
Our initial welcome at reception was quick, efficient and friendly and because we had stayed before we knew the layout of the hotel and where to go etc. Our room was on the 1st floor - a side sea view room this time as we were only staying for 1 week; and you spend such a little time in there during the day so a view wasn't our priority this time. Having said that we were in room 1148 and although we overlooked the hotel next door our view of the sea was good (see attached photos). We did email ahead and ask for one at the far end of the corridor (rooms ending 46 and above) for this reason which we did indeed get.
We stayed on a B&B basis as we enjoy going out to local tavernas and restaurants to experience a wide range of cuisines. Breakfast in the Oasis restaurant was as good as ever with a really fantastic range of hot and cold choices - couldn't fault it at all. Lunch was available in the Olive tree pool bar; again food very good especially the salad bar, and all hot choices were freshly cooked to order. Prices for lunch were a bit above what you would pay out in local bars etc however it was very convenient if you didn't want to go too far away from the pool areas.
There are ample sunbeds on either the poolside or on the grassy hotel front/ beach side. We never had a problem getting our favourite spot. There are 3 pools to choose from - all deliciously warm to swim, float and relax in and all with Jacuzzi areas. There is a pontoon which you get onto from a boardwalk on the beach which gives you access into the sea - its quite a rocky area and direct access from the beach would be difficult. The sea whilst cool was lovely to swim in and very refreshing considering the very hot weather we experienced - wall to wall sunshine and temperatures in the low 30's every day.
I had a full 50 minute massage in the spa this time too which was fabulous and great value at 35 euros (half price offer) - thanks to Faith for this experience; it was very relaxing.
Evenings are quiet at the Athena Royal; the entertainment is low key and was not to our personal taste but usually consisted of someone singing at the piano in the Dionyssis bar. That aside we spent most of our evenings out anyway - we had a pre-dinner cocktail most evenings sat on the terrace and returned after our meal out for a night cap. Eva the bar manager has been at the hotel since it opened in 2005 and she remembered us from then and from our last visit in 2009. It was lovely to chat to her again and catch up.
Overall we spent a very pleasant week at this exceptional hotel and will certainly return again in the future.

We spent a week at this hotel in the middle of June as we were in Cyprus for a wedding.
It's an adults only hotel but for this you can read 50+ hotel, there were very few people under this age there. It's very quiet and relaxing, no music by the pool etc so if this is what you want it's ideal.

Breakfast was fantastic, the choice was endless and to a very high standard. We only stayed on a B&B basis so I can't comment on the other meals.

Our room was nice, well cleaned and a decent size. Air conditioning comes as standard in all rooms but only when your in there as you need the key card to activate the electricity. You can be a bit sneeky and get a 2nd key for the room though to leave in there so it's nice and cool when you come back!

We had massages one day in the Elixir Spa which were amazing. It can be a bit pricey but they do lots of deals and half price packages so look out for these. There are plenty of sunbeds, we came down about 9:30am each day and never had a problem getting one... staff come round with cold flannels and fruit during the day which are nice touches.

The hotel is about a 15-20 min walk down the main harbour or there is a bus stop outside and it's only 1 Euro. Lots of nice restaurants about 5 mins away so you dont need to walk down there everyday. My top recommendation for a restaurant is Maverna Tavern which is near Bar street, real Greek food in a lovely setting.

Overall really nice hotel if a bit quiet.
