We have just come back (yesterday) from a weeks stay at Ascos Coral Beach Hotel booked through Thomas Cook.
It was a very enjoyable holiday, beautiful hotel and grounds very luxurious and extremely clean and well staffed.
Unfortunately when we booked we were not told that the hotel restaurant and breakfast/lunch room have a dress code! My husband wear trousers, shirt and tie all week so when he's holidaying the last thing he wants to do is dress formal so doesn't even take formal clothing with him.
This did not go unnoticed by duty manager Stelios who looked my hubby up n down every evening with a look of disgust!
Although he was wearing jeans and smart polo tshirts (like 50% of the other guests).
The reception was well manned and there was always someone there to help.
We were on the 2nd floor in room 274 and we had a side and pool view. The room was a very large well equipped size, with a kettle and also a fridge.
We had a view on both sides being a corner room so could see the sea and pool as well as more of the bay houses.
The maids did a great job everyday mopped the floors, made the beds, changed towels if needed etc.
Food was very fresh and plentiful. There were different selections every meal time and it never became repetitive.
The waiter/waitresses were very hot to remove empty plates, sometimes when not empty!
Do not put your knifes and forks down or they'll whip you're dinner away! This too goes for glasses of drink, sometimes so annoying as you are still actually eating.
If you were sat at a table in the bar area, pool area or even the communal reception areas the staff still came and served you drinks which was nice.
Language was sometimes an issue, I asked for a cup of tea and the waitress kept saying she didn't understand?!!
The man who mans reception at night (the big bloke) is a very nice man, nice to chat to and very helpful.
The Thomas Cook rep started as Phillipa but changed to Ruth? When I went down 1 morning to find her between 10-11 it said, I was told she had already left? Bit annoying!
We didn't use the hotel entertainment we don't like sitting with screaming kids running around carrying trays and smashing glasses!
Although the young man who gets people to play darts etc and the fitness lady were both very cheerful and pleasant.
The hotel was always immaculately clean.
We hired a car from the hire place just up from the hotel €100 for the week, bargain! We visited various places around the island, we drive 490 miles! If you get a chance to visit Nicosia then go! The Turkish border part is fab, some real bargains and bartering to be had!
Kato Pafos (Lower Paphos) harbour is lovely, our favourite place to visit in the evening for a stroll and a drink with free wifi.
The hotel should provide free wifi in the communal areas in this day and age, I refused to pay their extortionate prices!!!
All in all we loved it and would return for sure
