“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed 1 January 2013

We visited as a couple at the end of September and it was still very hot; we took advantage of the excellent air conditioning in our spacious one bedroom first floor apartment. We also had a lovely large balcony to sit out early morning and evening although I'm not sure that we'd have enjoyed it as much if we'd been on the ground floor and anywhere in the middle of the complex (our apartment was on the edge of the complex and overlooking a quiet residential street). The apartment was very clean but unfortunately there was quite a bit of litter around the paths and walkways with litter bins full to overflowing.
We opted for half board - taking dinner in the hotel which is just a short stroll away. Dinner was very good with a lot of choice which would suit the most fussy diners. A tip if you're not holidaying with children would be to go into dinner a little later to avoid the early rush.
Breakfast was plentiful and again with a lot of choice. Be aware tho' - they close the serving hatches on the dot.
The pool was big, clean and never seemed crowded. There was no problem with 'reserved' sun loungers as there were plenty to go round.
The buses were excellent value - buy a day ticket if you plan to make more than one return journey. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus EXCEPT when we visited the market and over a significant period in the middle of the day the buses are reserved as school buses. We waited for more than an hour in the middle of the day before taking a taxi.
An excellent value for money holiday with everything you need on hand. Especially suitable for families.
Our only disappointment - the beach is indeed just 300m away but all the beaches along this stretch are attached to the beachfront hotels. The public beach is a bit of a trek to walk to although you could catch a bus.

Room Tip: First floor apartments have more privacy.

I really didn't like this place at all unfortunately and it certainly isn't 4 start in my opinion. The apartments are spacious enough but the beds were the hardest I have ever attempted to sleep on. Only one thin pillow given per bed but we ordered more which did arrive for the 2nd night.
The air con was hit and miss whether it would stay on, there is a trip on the balcony doors that should reset once you close the doors again which didn't in our case, also there wasn't any happy medium with the temperature we were either boiling hot or freezing cold during the night and the air con is quite noisy.
The bathroom had some very questionable stains (inc on the ceiling) and the towels were very stained (clean im sure but obviously very old).
WiFi is only available in the hotel reception area (obviously not every one wants or needs this any way but my teenage daughters did).
If you want a bed round the pool then I would suggest setting your alarm clock for about 6am and go reserve one because that is what everyone else seems to do. We were at the far end of the complex near the restaurants so were fighting a losing battle to get beds. The pool area becomes a mass of people after 10am with absolutely no beds left whatsoever. We went over to use the hotel pool quite often as this appeared slightly quieter and the pool we found much nicer. We also went to the hotel for breakfast on quite a few mornings which we found to be very good with quite a good selection.
Really liked the Fiesta bar and the pizza restaurant at the end of the complex, the food at both places were very nice.
I think perhaps after visiting the Asimina earlier in the year where we were spoiled rotten we were expecting a lot more from the Avanti (being as the Asimina is 5 star and the Avanti supposedly 4 star) but it just wasn't our cup of tea.

Room Tip: If you plan to go to the pool everyday then request one close to it other wise its a bit of a walk.

Avanti Village give you a lovely welcome when you arrive and nothing is too much trouble throughout your holiday. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, although they are a bit on the basic side so I didn't get the homely feel i like when i am away, however, they served their purpose well. Avanti Village really comes into it's own when you realise what is on offer around you, Fiesta Bar is the place we miss the most, the staff are sooooo friendly, the food is good and the cocktails are amazing. We also are in the Pizza place opposite which was really nice and good value for money. The swimming pools are good and we always got sun loungers no problem. The pool bar food is so so so good!
Staying in Avanti Village, you are right in the middle of loads of retaurants and we didn't have a single bad meal in the 12 days we were there, all the restaurants are fab. You are also only 10 minute walk from the beach front and about 20 minute walk from the harbour. We don't have children but Avanti Village will definitely be somewhere i would visit with kids in the future as there are endless facilities for them. We will go back to Avanti Village in the future.

Room Tip: Request to be in the middle blocks as then you are close to the pool and the restaurants. Also, we r...

Been trying to find time to review the Avanti village since getting home in September 2012, was determined to not forget as we had such a good time that i wanted to let everyone know how good this place is.

Basically what you are getting is a complex of self catering appartments arranged in a village style with little paths and plants and trees inbetween them. At one end of the complex is the main Building where recpetion is, the restaurant and pools etc, and at the other end is a collection of restaurants and bars.

We were located roughly in the centre so had an equal walk from the pool to our room as it was from the bars to our room. Some will want to be closer to the pool but even the furthest appartments from the pool are not far and anyone that complains that it is far needs to get a grip.

The rooms are basic but spacious and immaculatley cleaned, the maid service is excellent, we wanted ours to come home with us!! TV channels are a bit of a let down, we watched more sky news than i care to mention so if you plan on using the tv be sure to take an ipad or laptop for you dvd and tv watching. Every apartment has 2 air con units, one in the bedrooma and one in the main room. We stayed as a couple so had a lounge, kitchen/diner and bedroom layout, if you are staying as a 4 or have kids then the sofas in the lounge are the extra beds so it may feel a bit crowded as you dont get seprate bedrooms. But if staying like we did as a couple then they are absolutely ideal.

The Pool is great, the included breakfast is really good, the food from the pool side restaruant is excellent. Plenty of sun loungers when we went, no issues with towells being left out or anything and if it is busy you can use the sister hotel next door which we did just to try it out one day.

The complex of bars and restaruants attached to avanti village need special mentions, the italian pizzarea is very, very good, as is ocean basket. captain hooks bar is good for a few games of pool but by far the best part of staying at the avanti village is fiesta bar. We spent so much time here as the staff made us feel like family, they knew our favoutie drinks within a day and spent time chatting to us. They have a flat screen tv on every wall and every sporting event is covered, i got to watch some of the champions league and the formula one on the sunday and my girlfirend made use of their free wifi! We were probably most sad to leave fiesta bar behind, it really made the holiday.

Youll notice ive not yet mentioned Paphos itself ro cyprus in general..... thats because you really can have your whole holiday at avati village and not be dissapointed but paphos is fantastic, go explore, your in a great location here, easy bus routes, plenty of bars and restarants and if you just cant be bothered avanti village has everything you need anyway. We want to go again next year for sure!

This was our second stay at the Avanti Village and we were still very happy with it. We requested the same room that we stayed in before and were pleased to find out on arrival that we had been allocated it. The one bedroom apartment is simple, but clean and comfortable. The large balcony has a table and chairs and is lovely to sit out on. We were upstairs. The only (small) complaint is that if you have noisy neighbours you can hear them as the walls are quite thin. We had a kid next to our room who seemed to be constantly throwing a paddy every evening for a few days! The rooms have air conditioning in the bedroom and living room and they can be controlled seperately which is handy. The kitchen has a cooker, hob, kettle and fridge with a small freezer box. Our room was about half way up the complex next to the farmers field which was a nice location.
The swimming pool is large and clean, although it is quite shallow for most of it. Would be great for kids, and has lots of inflatables in it. If you want a deeper, quieter pool then you can use the one in the neighbouring Avanti Hotel. The sunbeds were plentyful and in good working order, which was a good job as we spent many an afternoon relaxing around the pool.
The complex has a small gym with a few pieces of equipment which all work. It also has an indoor pool, sauna, steamroom and jacuzzi, although we didn't use these.
We stayed bed and breakfast. We didn't particularly enjoy the food and after a few days we decided to eat cereal on our balcony instead. It is buffet style with the usual bacon, eggs, sausages etc, as well as yogurt, breads pastries, ham, cheese, fruit and cereals. We just found the quality wasn't great and other guests weren't very hygenic around the food which was offputting.
The location of the village is about a mile from the harbour and you can walk it either along the seafront or the main road. There are also buses, although we hired a car so didn't use them at all.
I would totally recommend the Avanti Village to anyone.
