Just back from 11 nights at the Avanti Village - a great relaxing family holiday where the staff were keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The apartment was well furnished, great to have air-con and pool towels provided. The free Wi-Fi around the bar, reception and now also the pool was very well received. A lovely lagoon style pool with plenty of room and sunbeds for everyone.

Many thanks to the management for the free bottle of bubbly to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary on our last day. We hired a car through the hotel for 3 days at a good price- it was delivered to Reception and we could hand the keys back there up to midnight on the last day. The Cypriot dancing at the Avanti Hotel was entertaining and myself and my daughter were invited to join in.

Although we saw several cats they were not a problem at all.

Several local eating places we recommend: the Crocodile Pub, Rimini and the Golden Café.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are more private.

Stayed at the Avanti village Paphos from 5th to 16th July with my husband and two teenage children. We found the apartments too be of a good standard, very spacious and always well cleaned and fresh towels each day the air con was great. The pool area was very nice and never had any problems getting sunbeds which towels are provided for. The staff are really nice and the reception staff most helpful for any queries. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk the best we found was Ficardo and the Rib Shack. We would definitely return to the Avanti village and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Paphos.

We returned to the Avanti Village for the fourth time on 9th July for our 2 week summer holiday. The accommodation had benefitted from a bit of a spruce up, new soft furnishings and a lick of paint, plus I think they've finally got some softer mattresses - nice and firm but not rock hard like they used to be. Still very clean, very spacious and the air-con worked brilliantly.

The first week was fairly quiet, the hotel was obviously nowhere near full capacity but as the days passed it became very busy. The second week there was a huge party of Americans who had the pergola area of the Village Taverna reserved for their sole use and made meal times very busy. The adults tended to spend most of the days doing church related stuff and leave the older kids to look after the younger ones, which resulted in some selfish behaviour in and around the pool due to inadequate parental supervision. Not the hotel's fault but I would urge them to avoid taking large group bookings like this in future as it spoiled things for the rest of us at times.

The Animation guy the first week evidently didn't like children as he had absolutely nothing organised for under 16s. He disappeared the 2nd week and the 3 people who replaced him were much better, got the kids involved and did more, especially the 2 girls.

My major criticism is of the music around the pool. TOO LOUD by far and not everyone enjoys banging dance music, I now have a life long hatred of accordions and dance beats! The 'chill-out' music that was occasionally played was far more conducive to a relaxing holiday.

All told, for what you get the Avanti Village is exceptional value for money. The staff are lovely, the place is clean and spacious and the location is very convenient for accessing all that the Paphos area has to offer. Still gets 5 stars from me.

I found the staff to be exceedingly helpful and kind and accommodating. They went above and beyond the call of duty to provide excellent service. We had a great experience there. Would readily go back for another stay.

The Avanti Village is a fairly standard block of apartments with a large pool. The rooms are quite big, and the kitchens are good. The beds are comfy, and it was quiet at night. On the downside, the shower was terrible, the music from the pool bar was mostly dreadful, and the location isn't great - it's in a soulless strip of new-ish big hotels, and the beach (which is about a 10-minute walk, depending on where your room is) isn't very good. The nearest supermarkets are pretty expensive too. We walked to the waterpark, which takes about 20 minutes. Our teenage sons enjoyed that, and some of the motorised water entertainment at the beach.

There's nothing that looks like a traditional restaurant anywhere near, although you can get some local dishes amongst the usual stuff in some places (such as the Fiesta bar/restaurant). If you want Italian, Little Eataly is very good, and there are French, Chinese, Indian, and Japanese places fairly near - we didn't try those. For local food, a taxi into town is reasonable. We had excellent meals at 7 St Georges, the Windmill, and Hondros, all of which I'd recommend. We tried the Avanti Hotel buffet, which was ok.

The things we enjoyed most were the Tomb of The Kings, and the mosaics in the site beside the harbour, which were fantastic. In general, though, Paphos doesn't have much character left, and the Avanti Village could be just about anywhere in the world (the facilities reminded me of places in Cuba and Jamaica, but without any of the charm).

Room Tip: Doesn't matter a great deal - it's only 3-4 minutes to the pool from the furthest point, whi...
