A group of 6 of us stayed at this hotel in the 1st week of April. I can echo the previous reviewers comments on this hotel. The rooms were clean and tidy, however the food left a lot to be desired. On the 1st evening when we mentioned that the meat wasn't cooked enough, the waitress took our plates away, only to return 5 minutes later with the same plate of food! How did we know this? Because I had already had a bite out of the corn on the cob! The meals did slightly improve as the week wore on, although the menu was much the same with a choice of a meat, fish (which is full of bones) or a vegetarian dish each night.
The location of the hotel wasn't too bad. Yes it is a 10 minute walk to the bottom of the gondola (uphill) but it wasn't too strenuous and was obviously a nice downhill walk back after a good day on the slopes. Most of the bars and clubs were located around the bottom of the gondola so again involves climbing the hill. The prices weren't as cheap as we were hoping and were the same as here really. For branded beer it was generally 5e a pint, where as the local beer was 3.5e a pint and vodkas and cokes/lemonades was also 5-6e. We did eat out on the final night and would recommend Timmotei, an Italian restaurant on the main road opposite to the entrance to the road on which our hotel is on.
As for on the slopes, it is the 3rd time I have been boarding where as was the 1st time for the rest of the party. For a first timer, I would definitely recommend this resort for the skiing / boarding. The instructors were superb and all spoke very good English. This included 2 different instructors for 3 members of our party who were skiing and also 2 instructors for 3 of us that were boarding. Also, although there weren't many slopes at the resort, there were more than enough for 1st timers. However intermediates might look to book elsewhere! What we liked at the end of each day on the slopes was that there was often someone filming you throughout the day, resulting in 2 or 3 bars showing you footage of yourself on the big screen! Although each videoman was associated with a specific set of instructors and therefore bar, it was still a good gimmick to give you a laugh over a couple of swift drinks after a tiring day!
It is a resoort we would consider going back to as most of us are still beginners but we would look to stay in a different hotel!
