“It’s a bargain and I would I go back”
Reviewed 1 March 2011

Hotel was spotless, rooms were cleaned every day. The manager seemed a little reserved at first but offer a few words of thanks and see what happens.

The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. Ok the food may not be to everybody’s taste, it’s pretty much local cuisine but we always found something nice to eat. If in doubt ask and the staff will help you choose something you like. We only eat out once and that was a pre-planned trip to Surf for some nice steaks.

It is a bit of a hike up to the gondola but there is a free bus every 15 minutes with room for skies and boards so no problem!

There were some nice little touches like the cost of safety deposit keys and ski storage keys were fully refundable and ‘pick-nik’ breakfasts were prepared for our last ‘early’ morning departure.

Ok if I had to be picky, on the downside, the plumbing is a bit noisy if you are looking for a lie in, a separate bar and games room would have been nice at times and the kids were not impressed by the lack of Wi-Fi. Oh, and it was a bit too warm for us, we has to open the patio doors to balance the temperature, but so what, this is a ski hotel – we didn’t pay for the Ritz !!!

So all in all, I would recommend this hotel, it’s a bargain and I would I go back. Thanks to all for a great time.

I stayed in the Husa Xalet Besoli in Arinsal with a friend for a four night skiing break. We went with low expectations after reading some of the reviews but have to say we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was perfectly OK (not up to the standard of a catered chalet in France but then we were paying half the price. Yes the vegetables were soggy but we just avoided them!), the drinks were very reasonably priced (6.50 euros for a bottle of wine) and yes the room was hot but we just turned off the radiators. I would stay here again for a good, lower cost skiing holiday.

Went for a weeks skiing as a family, 2 adults and a child, staying in the Hotel Besoli - never again!! This place is more suited to young single guys or girls or locals. The hotel is a good 10 minute walk uphill to the gondola - not easy in the mornings when your legs and body are tired from skiing the day before and being kept awake all night. The hotel is lovely, clean and the staff friendly and some spoke/understood english, but this is definately not one for a family who want to have some rest and relaxation after a long days skiing! Our room was average in size but had all 3 of us sleeping in it - not ideal for a couple with a teenager. The walls are paper thin and the hotel is apparently a favourite for 'more local' clientele, some of whom seem to have a serious lack of regard and respect for other guests in the hotel. After a 10 minute uphill walk to the gondola and a full day skiing, another 10 minute walk back down the hill, the last thing you want is to be kept awake all night for the first 3 nights of your holiday by guests partying in the rooms next to you at 1 and 4 in the morning!! The hotel did speak to those concerned and it did eventually stop but it ruined the start of our holiday. The hotel's floors are all tiled and brilliant for echoing doors opening and slamming. The plumbing is also very noisy and again wakes you at all times of the night, especially when next door returns from late night apres ski and decides to have a bath or flush the toilet!! Having read reviews before we always try to give the benefit of the doubt but before visiting here read the ones on this place - they are all bang on. Buffet breakfast was nice but rushed as we had to be in ski school for 9 and breakfast is served from 8. The rep had agreed 7.45 with the hotel which worked for 3 days and then became a problem for the kitchen staff. We were then made to wait until 8 before they opened the doors - hence we were late for ski school. Evening meals were a set menu - choice of 3 of each course. It became a standing joke that it was like going through the ' Bushtucker trials' every evening. There were no drinks, not even water, tea or coffee included in the evening meal - these had to be bought seperately. One night we felt we had to eat out as there was nothing on the menu that we felt we could eat. Arinsal is lovely, the people are friendly and skiing is great, the gondola is scary and the apres ski is fabulous but unfortunately this hotel was very disappointing and we will not stay there again.

I stayed in that hotel for two nights. Hotel location is good because it is quite close to ski lift.
Hotel has parking space for quests and it is free of charge. Room was comfortable and clean. Unfortunately on TV were mainly Spanish channels. Breakfast was all right so was dinner. Staff members were friendly. I recommend hotel for ski holidays.

Hi,
I was very pleased with the food at this hotel. The comments that have been placed on this site are unfare or perhaps out of date. The menu each night is different and they offer pretty special food options. I certainly looked forward to what might be on offer after a long day on the slope. I had all the special options such as duck, bream, rabbit, catfish but there were others more oriented towards other European nations. The 3 courses are good and the starters are often substantial meals in their own right which is good when you have been exercising. The rooms were of good quality; quite large, warm, lots of hot water, and clean.

The staff were polite and very pleased to help out. On the down side there was a bit of a mess up with the hotel phone bill but the staff kind-of sorted it out but you might want to avoid using the room phone.

We took the coach each moring at 8.30 to another resort 40mins away because of the conditions which you'd think would be a faff but it was ok and the coach drivers were excellent.

I hired kit over there too because the charter flight wouldn't guarantee that the equipment could be put on the plane and the hire kit was good too. My tip would be not to take the equipment hire packages with the tour operators as the outfitters are at the top of a lift station and therefore if you have to go to another resort you can't as your kit is half way up the mountain. So just get out on the first night and hire it in town. The shops shut at 7 or maybe 7.30(?)

have a good time

Went the first week of march ski-ing for the first time so didnt know what to expect. The walk up to the gondala was only 15 mins and the area was very pretty. We did go towards end of season so hardly much snow, so when it did snow once over night it was very exciting!
The hotel is basic which is fine, with the rads on full blast, especially in the evening, so did have to sleep with the balcony door open every night. Food was ok first 2 nights but then got quite bad. spring rolls on the menu was a joke- slice of ham rolled with coleslaw in the middle( don't even know if it was coleslaw) and you got 3 of those. when asked if we can have something else the waiter said no. The main course came and it was a very bloody, fatty pork!when asked to cook it longer we were told "this is how we eat it". Right ok then.
The last night we did treat our selves to pizzeria round corner which was fab.
The bar man was lovely in the hotel and the rest of the staff just kept themselves to themselves. When checking out we have a "bar bill" we had to pay which in fact was not ours, just shows you should pay as you go like we did otherwise might get ripped off!
We went with some mates which was brill, so to go with other people is good, lovely location, fine hotel but just maybe just go bed and breakfast next time?
Treated our selves at the spa place 15 min taxi drive away, definatly worth a visit!

Just got back from a fantastic ski trip to Arinsal, Andorra. The slopes and weather were excellent and I would definitely go back.

The hotel is located about 15mins walk downhill from the gondola station which wasn't a problem as we hired room a cage at the top of the gondola for the overnight storage of skis.

The hotel itself was basic but clean and welcoming. We found all the staff amenable and friendly (contrary to others experiences) and I would stay there again readily on a non-catered basis.

Unfortunately we were there on a half board basis. The food was terrible and it took all our willpower (and thriftiness!) not to eat out every night. If a vegetable appeared it was boiled to within an inch of its life and came from a tin and the choice of main courses was woeful and badly cooked. The breakfast by contrast was excellent.

Stay at this hotel on a bed and breakfast basis but go half board at your peril :-)
