“Excellent Hotel, Great Location, Amazing Food!”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

Single Parent Holiday, myself and my daughter aged 8. Would defo go back!

There are not nursery runs down to the hotels though like in some resorts that are free.
Hotel Montane was better than described. NO need for a SKI locker on the mountain as FOC at the hotel opposite the gondala. U can use own padlock or hire one for 10Euros which you get back on return. Same with TV remote its 20Euro deposit.
Free Wifi in the Reception area, in some rooms too. U can always ask for one with ?? Level 2 and I or some areas of the others. Also FREE mulled wine and T&Coffee in the reception area with free cakes and things too. All much appreaciated.

If you want a louder, hotel you can aways pop up to the princess park, there was a spa pool which was nice for a visit, larege coffee shop and sitting area. The Montane did for use though most days.

Room:
Average Size, good bed, nice linen, dressing table and bath and shower.
Very Clean and always clean towels.

Location:
Centre of the town, opposite ski bus stop to Pal, Arcalias.
Opposite the Ski gondala.. saves you walking as town is on a hill.

Service in Hotel:
Excellent Service throughout from reception to dining area. Food was amazing. Fab choice and 5******. Breakfast was conti but more than you could eat, we only had a full engish twice! Well worth the 5Euro extra.

Ski/Boarding:
Good Slopes and every run goes down to the main station to fab really.
Olivia and I had 1hr Snowboarding lesson for the first 3 mornings to help us get to know the slopes. The instructors were excellent and all english speaking. They did say they would not originally take mixed age group, but they did as Olivia and I are both intermediate boarders and well at the of the holiday, Olivia was better than me.. again!!! Lifts again all for Skiiers, we did ski some of the time but coped on the lifts which were all pretty quick, they even helped my daugher at the top as some were hard to get off on the board.

Apre Ski:
The Irish Pub the Derby was very child friendly, always free soft drinks before 7 with a sticker or so. El Cow and other places were good too.

TIP on the Buses/Taxi:
You can go to some ski areas FOC on the Ski Bus, for Pal you have to pay but very close.
Taxi is around 28Euro to the Pal Ski area but you can get the Taxi for 8Ero to the bottom of the gondala in La Macella ( not sure how spelt ). If not bus is about 2Euro.

We got a very good late deal to Arinsel and we were very pleased with this hotel. The room was clean and perfectly adequate for a weeks skiing. The food was very good, breakfast consisted of a good continental choice or a cooked option for a small fee. The evening meal was lovely, a good selection of 3 courses each night..........the desserts could have been a bit bigger but the generous starter made up for this. Beware if you have a room at the front as quite often there is a lot of noise from people being a bit worse for wear staggering past........but après ski is a must! We would definitely stay here again if we were to return to Arinsel.

We spent a week at the Montane at the beginning of January, 2012. The location is the best in Arinsal (we'd previously stayed in the Princesa Parc and the St Gothard), directly opposite the gondola, the bus stop and right in the heart of the village.

Our room was at the front of the hotel, with a great view of the mountains. Despite the fact that it was right on the road, there was very little outside noise and we had no difficulty sleeping after a busy day on the slopes. It was fairly basic but very clean with a reasonably sized bathroom. There was plenty of wardrobe space, with hooks on the door for your ski gear and a bench to place your boots on. The only criticism with the room was that our mattresses were a bit uncomfortable and could probably do with being upgraded. There is a flat screen tv in the room and you need to pay a €20 refundable deposit for the remote.

Breakfast is a continental menu with plenty of choice of cereals, meats, cheeses and pastries. You can also order a cooked breakfast for an extra €5 although we didn't try this. Dinner was a 3 course meal, with 3 choices for each course and we never struggled to find something to eat. The food was very good, better than that of the Princesa Parc! You just need to remember to book a time for your evening meal in advance as the restaurant is quite small.

The hotel has its own secure ski locker, which is free of charge to use. You can either pay €10 (refundable) for an additonal padlock or you can use your own suitcase lock to secure your gear inside the hotel locker.

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and there is also usually free coffee and pastries available in the lobby when you return in the afternoon. If you're lucky, the fire will be lit as well! The hotel also provides free wifi access in reception which you might also pick up in your room. Although there is no bar in the hotel, you are right in the centre of the village, surrounded by a range of bars offering great après ski and deals on food and drink.

We enjoyed our stay in the Montane and would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Literally across the road to the ski lift and close to a number of bars .Small lounge area on entering but no bar which dose reduce late night noise !Room warm, clean and overlooks the ski lift (all rooms face this way ).Food in the dining area very good at night .Breakfast continental on order but plenty of it (cooked breakfast incurs 5 euros extra payment ) Staff excellent and friendly in the dining room . Ski boot room available . I would recommend this hotel

This is the first time that we have been to Andorra on a skiing trip, We found it to be great value, We were a bit worried that it would be cheap and cheerful and found that this is not the case. The hotel was a pleasure, Food was great and good size portions just what you need after a full day skiing, The menu has a choice of three good meals which changed every day, something for any taste. The staff were such a laugh and very friendly couldn't do enough for us,We missed the bus for a day trip to Grandvalira through a miss understanding and anna on reception called our rep and sorted it all out so we didn't miss out on a great day skiing Highly recommended with loads of great runs you would be pushed to get around it in a day. Anyway back to the hotel, It is owned and run by a English lady (fiona) who is very much on the ball, friendly and keeps the place running like clockwork. You will not find a hotel in a better location for the Gondola which is just across the road and takes you to the Arinsal runs, you can also get on the Pal runs at the top of Arinsal via a cable cart, saves catching the bus, we stopped in a nice spacious room no complaints there. Lots of good bars local, nice small resort with everything within walking distance. Overall Loved the holiday and will be going back next year. Thanx Fiona x

My daughter and I spent a week at this Hotel from the 29th Jan 2012. I will give a brief overview of the Hotel, the resort and then the skiing.
The Hotel is in a fantastic position, probably the best in the resort, right at the bottom of the gondola and in the centre of the resort. This means you don't need to wait and pay for ski storage - get off the gondola and leave your equipment in secure storage right under the Hotel.
I have been fortunate in life to stay at some very good Hotels, but to be honest you will not beat this one, when you consider the cost. It has everything you could ever want. All of the staff are first class, extremely professional and very friendly. I spoke to most of them, including the owner manager (not too sure which he was) but they were all excellent. The rooms are really clean, the showers excellent, a really good size - we were in 501 and had fantastic views of the mountains too.
The food, well I thought that was a bit special. The portions were large, tasted beautiful (my daughter is a veggie) and a lovely selection of various dishes to choose from. I know there have been some comments about slow service. Well the Hotel was full, and the service was very reasonable considering they prepare it for you and serve it at your table. Even the free coffee was lovely!
The resort is also perfect for any ages. There is a large selection of bars and restaurants all within a minute or two walking. It wasn't noisy at all, and there was a really good atmosphere - really friendly, and we made a lot of friends that helped make the holiday.
We are both novice skiers, again we were fortunate as we had a lot of snow on the day we arrived and had more whilst there. For us it was great, you can get to all the resorts in Andorra on a free bus service, which is all included in your ski pass. The pass for one resort covered us for all of the other lifts too. We were lucky, we didn't use the ski schools, but the feedback we heard was that they were very good, but we met another fantastic couple (Tony and Sharon) who took us under their wing and took us around some fantastic runs. I can't fault the skiing at all, everyone seemed to enjoy it and there were some challenging runs as well as some long blues and greens.
Boring myself with the review now! Overall, this is a really good Hotel that offers everything you could need for a fantastic holiday. I never go back to the same Hotel as I know there are lots of places I like to try - on this occasion I will make an exception and I will be going back!!
Thanks Hotel Montane and Andorra!!

Location.
The hotel is spread over 6 floors and is directly opposite the gondola to the ski slopes. This is also the bus stop location for the free ski bus to Pal and Arcalis. Great central location in village for all the apres ski bars, yet the hotel itself is very quiet.

Facilities
Ski locker with option to hire a padlock. The space in the rack is however limited and you may need to prop skis elsewhere in the room. Reception has a log fire seating. Coffee and mulled wine were freely available during our stay.. very homely. Resteraunt is on floor above reception and has great open views of the mountains.

Rooms
Excellent size, well heated, well decorated and very clean and tidy. Beds are very comfy, but like all continental locations the double is two singles together. TV available with 10euro deposit for remote, but only bbc news and cnn in english. The bathroom was fresh and modern and plenty of hot water at all times. Not all rooms are suitable for disabled as the floors are split level.

Resteraunt
Waitress service for breakfast and evening meal. Both are also open to non-residents. Breakfast is excellent continental or option for cooked english for extra 5euros.. worthwhile as it was delicious. Tea is great as there are teapots and proper teabags.
For evening meals you need to book a table. Do this early as time slots fill fast. Set menu has 3 options for starters, main and desert. It varies each night. Mostly excellent, though a couple of dishes in the week were a little salty. Good choice of drinks and the house wine is only 10 euro.

Staff
The best bit. Our arrival at the hotel was the most welcoming ever. Offerred mulled wine, quick check in and shown to our room. Every mealtime we were welcomed like good friends. The staff work very hard and are cheery throughout. The only down was for checkout. Information in room said 12 and reception on night before leaving said 10.

Conclusion.
A great hotel with fantastic staff in a perfect location.
