Myself and a friend have just returned from a week's trip to the Montane hotel in Arinsal and it is really difficult (if not impossible)to find anything negative to say about the hotel and its staff. Our very special thanks go to Griselda and Ana, who were more than helpful and provided a lovely, friendly and personal service. However, we have to say that all employed staff provided a friendly and efficient service throughout the stay. Nothing was too much trouble.

The food was excellent and the all day provision of cakes/biscuits, coffee/tea and gluhwein was a lovely touch - and much welcomed after a day on the slopes!!!!

The location of the hotel is fab, and has to be the best placed hotel in Arinsal - opposite the Gondola and bus stop AND close to all bars and the supermarket.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

Stephie and Trish

We were a party of 7 that stayed at the Montane on 5th Feb 12 for a week. We had a hellish journey to get there with our travel company however, when we finally did arrive (a day late) we were warmly greeted by the staff. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the food was excellent with a great choice every evening. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable, a couple of our friends felt their rooms were cold but the 2 rooms our family had were very warm. We were on the first floor and overlooked the Gondola station, we had previously read about street noise at night however this wasn't a problem for us.

The free ski locker was a real bonus!

Well recommended hotel and I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is opposite the gondola you could not get any closer, free ski lockers at hotel and free wifi in reception.

If you are looking for somewhere to book in Arinsal then you really can't beat the Montane. It is located right opposite the main Gondola up to the pistes. A number of other hotels stretch out up and down the main road of town, but none have the very short walk across the road to the lifts. As a couple of first time skiers we really appreciated being able to use the free ski locker under the hotel and then hobble the short distance across the road in our ski boots. Other hotels in the area involve getting a bus up or down the main road, which is less convenient as you are likely to need to carry different shoes with you to do this.

The service in the hotel was simply exceptional. We have stayed in many different hotels as a couple in many different 'star ratings' but I can honestly say the friendliness, hospitality, greetings and overall level of service by the small but effective staff at the Montane was truly brilliant. One gentleman in particular who worked the desk and the restaurant (a manager I think, not sure of his name - the hotel has a very small staff) was the politest individual I have ever had the good fortune to meet working in a hotel. Just exceptional service, the sort of service you remember for a long time after you leave. Service in the restaurant (more on this later) was polite, quick and made the whole experience of eating (we were half board - highly recommended - great value) very pleasant indeed.

The food was one of the best half board options we have encountered. No half cold/half stale buffet. A superb choice from 3 starters, main courses and deserts every night. There was great variety within the menu to suit even the biggest appetite - pastas, salads, soups, ribs, chicken etc. Breakfast was continental style and high quality with punctual service (good news if you have an early ski school).

It is worth also mentioning the hotel was completely spotlessly clean in every respect. The rooms were traditionally styled with modern bathrooms (great shower and bath) which were kept very warm. They are cleaned every day - sheets/towels changed etc. This is a real strength of the Montane.

Once again - all of the above being great - the main strengths of this hotel are location and service. I wouldn't look any further if booking in Arinsal and would without doubt book again. This is the friendliest, warmest welcoming hotel we have ever experienced and hope if you do decide to book you have the same great experience that we had.

Single Parent Holiday, myself and my daughter aged 8. Would defo go back!

There are not nursery runs down to the hotels though like in some resorts that are free.
Hotel Montane was better than described. NO need for a SKI locker on the mountain as FOC at the hotel opposite the gondala. U can use own padlock or hire one for 10Euros which you get back on return. Same with TV remote its 20Euro deposit.
Free Wifi in the Reception area, in some rooms too. U can always ask for one with ?? Level 2 and I or some areas of the others. Also FREE mulled wine and T&Coffee in the reception area with free cakes and things too. All much appreaciated.

If you want a louder, hotel you can aways pop up to the princess park, there was a spa pool which was nice for a visit, larege coffee shop and sitting area. The Montane did for use though most days.

Room:
Average Size, good bed, nice linen, dressing table and bath and shower.
Very Clean and always clean towels.

Location:
Centre of the town, opposite ski bus stop to Pal, Arcalias.
Opposite the Ski gondala.. saves you walking as town is on a hill.

Service in Hotel:
Excellent Service throughout from reception to dining area. Food was amazing. Fab choice and 5******. Breakfast was conti but more than you could eat, we only had a full engish twice! Well worth the 5Euro extra.

Ski/Boarding:
Good Slopes and every run goes down to the main station to fab really.
Olivia and I had 1hr Snowboarding lesson for the first 3 mornings to help us get to know the slopes. The instructors were excellent and all english speaking. They did say they would not originally take mixed age group, but they did as Olivia and I are both intermediate boarders and well at the of the holiday, Olivia was better than me.. again!!! Lifts again all for Skiiers, we did ski some of the time but coped on the lifts which were all pretty quick, they even helped my daugher at the top as some were hard to get off on the board.

Apre Ski:
The Irish Pub the Derby was very child friendly, always free soft drinks before 7 with a sticker or so. El Cow and other places were good too.

TIP on the Buses/Taxi:
You can go to some ski areas FOC on the Ski Bus, for Pal you have to pay but very close.
Taxi is around 28Euro to the Pal Ski area but you can get the Taxi for 8Ero to the bottom of the gondala in La Macella ( not sure how spelt ). If not bus is about 2Euro.

We got a very good late deal to Arinsel and we were very pleased with this hotel. The room was clean and perfectly adequate for a weeks skiing. The food was very good, breakfast consisted of a good continental choice or a cooked option for a small fee. The evening meal was lovely, a good selection of 3 courses each night..........the desserts could have been a bit bigger but the generous starter made up for this. Beware if you have a room at the front as quite often there is a lot of noise from people being a bit worse for wear staggering past........but après ski is a must! We would definitely stay here again if we were to return to Arinsel.

We spent a week at the Montane at the beginning of January, 2012. The location is the best in Arinsal (we'd previously stayed in the Princesa Parc and the St Gothard), directly opposite the gondola, the bus stop and right in the heart of the village.

Our room was at the front of the hotel, with a great view of the mountains. Despite the fact that it was right on the road, there was very little outside noise and we had no difficulty sleeping after a busy day on the slopes. It was fairly basic but very clean with a reasonably sized bathroom. There was plenty of wardrobe space, with hooks on the door for your ski gear and a bench to place your boots on. The only criticism with the room was that our mattresses were a bit uncomfortable and could probably do with being upgraded. There is a flat screen tv in the room and you need to pay a €20 refundable deposit for the remote.

Breakfast is a continental menu with plenty of choice of cereals, meats, cheeses and pastries. You can also order a cooked breakfast for an extra €5 although we didn't try this. Dinner was a 3 course meal, with 3 choices for each course and we never struggled to find something to eat. The food was very good, better than that of the Princesa Parc! You just need to remember to book a time for your evening meal in advance as the restaurant is quite small.

The hotel has its own secure ski locker, which is free of charge to use. You can either pay €10 (refundable) for an additonal padlock or you can use your own suitcase lock to secure your gear inside the hotel locker.

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and there is also usually free coffee and pastries available in the lobby when you return in the afternoon. If you're lucky, the fire will be lit as well! The hotel also provides free wifi access in reception which you might also pick up in your room. Although there is no bar in the hotel, you are right in the centre of the village, surrounded by a range of bars offering great après ski and deals on food and drink.

We enjoyed our stay in the Montane and would definitely stay in this hotel again.
