Upon arrival 3.30pm our room was not made up, cleaners had not even started on it, disappointing after travelling 12 hours to get there and to have to wait yet again.

Location is excellent, can not ask for better

Reception area is comfy and mulled wine available in evenings, great after coming from the slopes, a negative would be that staff seem to bicker/ argue between themselves and with delivery men in spanish, i might not be able to understand the language but it is mot very professional. Reception staff were very friendly but i did not find fionas tone in reception as welcoming as some of the other staff.

Breakfast was good, good selection, love having fresh fruit and yogurts available. Stayed last year here also, this year breakfast is much faster as it is no longer waiter service, great progress, saves time when you need to get to ski school.

Dinner was very tasty, with starters almost the same size as mains. Food was excellent , although i think the standard was a little better last year. One disappointing part of dinner was water, you must buy bottled water and it is very expensive!! Waiter service was excellent.

No wifi in rooms, would be great if this could be further developed. Nice rooms, asked for a double bed request when booking, booked well in advance this request was not acknowledged. I found the humidity/ heat of the rooms very uncomfortable, the air was incredibly dry even though we had the heating turned off from day 1. I don't know what the solution to this problem is.

Everything was very clean and comfortable.
I would stay again, and i would recommend, if a few little issues were improved it would have been a 5 star experience

Dear Happyhollyland,

Thank you for your review and we are pleased to see a return client with positive feedback.
Your issue with bottled water has been noted but the owner still doesn´t feel happy openly recommending the tap water. There are clients who really are quite ill from the difference in their regular supply and this one.
The complimentary bottled water in the room is the same standard as we serve in the restaurant,we have thought of introducing a cheaper ,perhaps plastic, bottle of water since your review.
The recepcionists speak Catalan with each other and all tradesmen coming through , I have asked them if there have been any issues with trade , arguements or suchlike and they assure me that not.
Maybe the harsh , staccato Catalan loudness can be mistaken for bickering , they have seen your review and are approaching any latin over-enthusiasm.
Your request for a double bed wouldn´t have gone unheeded pre-booked, there is only one double room in the hotel and it was probably taken. If your agency had got in touch with us we would have told them that before you came , sometimes its not possible unless you get in touch directly with the hotel , sorry about that ,we always aim to please.
The heating is an issue , all too often totally the opposite of your problem , clients find it too cold and others find it stifling. You were right to turn it off if it was too hot.
Wifi throughout the hotel is not advertised , we have it in reception permanently and fluctuating through the other floors. We will find a solution to this problem that doesn´t cause huge overusage.
Last and not least , our leader voted Hotelier of the year for the past 2 years and with the team Winner of Travellers Choice for 2013 , hand picks the nicest people for the front of the house for their warmness and charm. If on occasion not as warm as the rest of us we understand , her rôle as the British Consul in Andorra sometimes has her running out the door with no sideways glance. No doubt totally unintentional , we get our training and example from her.
We hope to see you back sometime.

5 of us stayed here for weeks ski holiday in January and what a great place to stay. From the moment we checked in till the day we left everything was catered for. ALL staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Nick who came out to help us with our bags on arrival. The rooms are very warm and comfortable with great views of the gondola lift. The food was very good with 3 choices of each course, which is 3 courses with a different menu every night, our thanks to Matthew for looking after us so well each meal time. When we come back to Andorra we will be staying here again. Thanks to Fiona and all her lovely staff for a wonderful stay at the Montane.

Friendly, welcoming staff. Excellent all round for a 3 star hotel. Food excellent and the location couldn't be better. Wifi did not work in the bedroom, only in reception but was not a problem for me.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street can be a bit noisy with late night revellers returning home.

We spent a week here in the Autumn 2012. This is perfect base for walking in the national park which surrounds this small village. The walking was superb (but you should be reasonably fit to use this as a base as much climbing is required). To come back to this cosy hotel, have a long hot bath and a lovely meal was made even more pleasurable by the (generally) good food and warm welcome. The cost was also extremely reasonable.

Our stay at this hotel was marred by an ugly incident with the hotel owner who accused us, in no uncertain terms, of excessive internet usage.

The hotel itself is a standard 3star hotel; clean, relatively good fare at meal times, rooms cleaned every day. It had been advertised as having wifi throughout and so I had brought my laptop with in order to do some work and keep up with the latest news.

After two days into a seven day stay the internet in our room stopped working. We approached reception and were told that there had been excessive internet usage from our specific room and so the internet had been switched off.

I was shocked at this, our internet usage had been what I would call normal and by no means excessive - emails, facebook, online newspapers and a couple of youtube videos. Nothing excessive - no downloading of films or online gaming. I also checked for any programs running in the background that may have accounted for such a high volume. Again, nothing I could find could possibly be downloading vast amounts.

We returned to reception and informed the owner of our limited internet usage. The owner was adamant that it was our room that was the cause of the high usage and that it was being investigated.

The internet in our room remained off throughout the rest of the week, and indeed we found that it was subsequently turned off in the dining room. The only place it worked was in reception!

Whilst the issue of over usage of internet is a serious one, there are a number of issues raised in that way that the owner went about dealing with this situation:

Firstly, how a hotel can pinpoint internet usage to one particular room is beyond both myself, my partner and the IT techy guy that I met on the slopes. Surely each room having its own rooter would be vastly more expensive than having a few routers supplying access points to areas of the hotel?

Secondly, if advertised as having wifi why would a hotel be on a pay-as-you-go data tariff? Why not be on an unlimited data package?

Thirdly, and most importantly I feel, the approach the owner took in dealing with this situation was unprofessional, inflammatory and unnecessary. I was made to feel guilty, upset and sorry. This was wrong, especially as neither myself, nor my partner had done anything wrong. As a paying guest I expect a modicum of respect, and I certainly did not get it on this occasion. I have never been so badly treated in the past and doubt I will in the future.

In terms of giving constructive feedback, I would suggest that was this situation to arise in the future, the owner of this hotel may like to consider a gentler approach and a discreet conversation explaining that there has been excessive internet usage and could patrons please monitor how much they use, as if it carries on then the hotel may have to limit access. This would be a much preferable approach to: 'there has been too much internet usage, it was your room, it is very expensive, we have turned off the internet and are investigating'.

This ugly, needless episode tarnished what was otherwise a pleasant stay in a relatively pleasant hotel.

Dear Sir,
I will introduce myself , I am Anne the guest relation dtr.
We are sorry you felt offended by the owner´s message about the volume of traffic on internet and as you say overusage is a serious issue.
There was a move to say nothing about the outage but we felt there needed to be some explanation.
We dont advertise as having wifi throughout the hotel as we dont always have it , as you were advised through your various calls down to reception during the first few days of your stay during fluctuation.
We have no idea who the techy IT guy on the slopes was and so we´re not sure of his explanation to you about our hotel wifi service.
Andorran telecommunication and IT is notoriously expensive and they called us to advise us that that particular week the bill had gone past 500,00€..... hence the outage.
I was next to the owner during the delivery of the message and didn´t find the delivery at all inflammatory or disrespectful , she went as far as to apologize for any inconvenience caused and invited you to use the reception area for your wifi necessities.
But , as I said , please accept our apologies if you felt that there was anything said to make you feel guilty.

I recently stayed at Hotel Montane for a family and friends holiday. The hotel itself has the perfect location allowing a great view from hotel bedrooms looking out to mountains as it is literally right opposite the ski lift. It is centre to all the local bars and shops! The staff were all very welcoming and helpful with any request we needed. The food was delicious every night and thats coming from a very fussy eater as there was great choice for each and every meal. I look forward to returning to Arinsal and will definitely be staying at hotel Montane as i can't praise it enough.
