I recently visited a friend in Monte Carlo and it was her decision where we went for lunch. She suggested La Note Blue as somewhere that she went regularly. I understand why. A beautiful beach location with a menu that is varied and surprisingly non-Monte Carlo in terms of price. In keeping with the "when in Rome...." principle I had salade nicoise and my friend had a tomato and mozzarella salad. The nicoise was lovely: attractive and tasty and the quantity was just right. The tomato and mozzarella salad looked very nice too. Lunch for two including alcoholic drinks and coffee afterwards came to only 53 Euros. I thought that was pretty good.

La Note Bleu has a great reputation, and it's well deserved - for the most part. What's not to love about a gorgeous setting on the beach where you lounge on pool chairs under umbrellas and have your drinks and delicious food brought to you? Not much. It's definitely a "poser scene", but much of that comes from the wait staff. Every beach boy waiter was attractive and kept busy with customers.. but I also observed the guys goofing off together, and ended up having to catch the eye of one to get service every time we wanted to order something. Ultimately, three different "waiters" took care of us over the few hours we were there, instead of just one. As I said.. service was lacking. But, on a positive note, the food was very good. And it was such fun hanging out in one of Monaco's tres chic spots. There is a large music performing area before you hit the sand. It's a hot spot at night, with live jazz music. Lots of pretty white and tan and blue in the color scheme. Not many Americans the day we were there.. mostly Europeans speaking French, Italian, Russian, and German around us. It was definitely fun.. but pricey. You pay for the beach lounge bed - 50 Euros for two beds the day we went, so about 65+ dollars for two. Plus the food and drinks. Not cheap. But, a memorable way to pass the day.

La Note Bleu is Larvotto's number one beach restaurant in terms of quality. Menu is changing everyday (but they also have fixed menu). Daily menu consists of about 20 plates from fresh salads, fish, meat and some Asian. Dishes are delicious but not large (American size plates). Service is efficient and friendly. Seating is all outdoors. They have a live music playing most of the night which makes place little noisy.

Day time they offer sunbeds for rent.

As rated high on TripAdvisor we chose La Note Blue as our lunch destination while exploring Monte Carlo on our trip to Côte d'Azur. I enjoyed a fresh Salad Niçoise and my companion had a delicious looking burger. Great ambience, relaxed atmosphere, worthwhile to stop by.
