ARRIVAL: It is awesome to arrive in Monte Carlo when the hotel arranges a helicopter transfer, the Summer sun makes the journey a discovery of colors and beauty of the Riviera, the best Summer in the world, by far. The check in at the Metropole is always easy and I never had to wait a minute, free internet, pleasant imposing hotel, kind staff and the best concierge.

STAFF: The staff of the Metropole is the very best of all French Riviera, I say that because even being an über-luxurious, traditional hotel, the staff is very kind, helpful and ALWAYS in a good mood. The team under the command of Ms. Odile Firmin-Guion makes sure the guest feels at home, it is impossible to say the hotel needs something more, the staff is really a highlight, as well as the Concierge deserves a special mention, the team of Mr. Serge Medina knows Monaco and the whole region like their own home, from restaurant information to anything you may think of, and best deals for cars, transfers, taxis, anything, they’ve got it, seriously, I have been travelling and I can say this for sure, if you’re looking for THE BEST staff, stay at the Metropole.

HOTEL/LOCATION: Location… what to say? The very best as well, puts you in the middle of Monaco, be it for watching the Gran Prix or for a welcoming Summer holiday, Winter, anything you’re looking for, that is the place to be, having been there from Valentine’s day to peak Summer holidays I can say one thing for sure: even being a few footsteps to the Casino, the hotel ensures you 100% privacy, it is discreet, luxurious and above all literally sits on top of the mall where you can find everything, even looking for a Cuban cigar at 1AM? They have it right there, plus all the restaurants, which are AWESOME, from the incredible Jöel Robouchons to the mall venues you get the widest food and beverage choice of MC.

OVERALL: The Metropole! Where else? From all my traveling it is where I feel best, the hotel is big enough to feel the privacy yet small enough to keep the personal treatment, people remember your surname, welcome you well, you’re literally taken care of and spoiled, plus the rooms, the views, the bars, everything… it is just the BEST, once again my special thanks to Mr. Serge Medina, Ms. Odile Firmin-Guion and their whole staff for making me feel literally at home in Monte Carlo!!!

Room Tip: all rooms are AMAZING, deluxe rooms have very good views too and the higher the floor the better to...

This is a fabulous hotel in a wonderful location, just off the Place de Casino, and a gentle stroll to all the spots you may want to visit during your stay. If the hills are too daunting there is a bus stop just across the road! The service is impeccable, the public rooms gracious and the bedrooms clean and immaculate with amazing power-shower cabinets!
We went for my husband's birthday and he was delighted to be greeted with a special cake to mark the celebration. The breakfasts are good - a mix of buffet and table service and the evening cocktails are elegant. It's not cheap but for quality and service is second to none!
This was our second visit to the Metropole and it didn't disappoint!

Room Tip: Junior Suites are a lot more spacious - if more expensive!

I was treating my parents to a vacation for the celebration of their 53rd Wedding Anniversary on 11 October 2011 (we stayed from 8-14 October). Coming from New York City, where anything is possible, Le Metropole held its "Leading Hotels Of The World" status with splendor. From the freshly-ironed tablecloths and sensational foods in their premier restaurant, Joel Rubouchon, to the fact that their staff has class extraordinare, this hotel did not disappoint. It is superbly located right across the street from the "Place Du Casino" gardens and fountains (what a way to take an after-breakfast stroll and a little sun by the fountains!), literally nestled in what seemed the exact center of Monte Carlo, and a short 10-minute walk from the beach. My parent's anniversary day was touched by a tray of delicate, yet decadent chocolates in their room accompanied by a beautiful, hand-written note with a special wish from the hotel on their special day.
I must add (and this has been a wish of mine for years, should a menu ever fall on the floor) that this is the first hotel where I actually saw the stately menus being cleaned with antibacterial wipes. I am like "Felix Ungar", so I definitely noticed that! Finally, Le Meropole mall (right next to, and a short, outdoor escalator ride down to underneath the hotel) has wonderful, high-end (no surprise here) shops and cafes to add to the mix.
So, in short, if you are traveling to Monaco, and aren't sure where to stay, dream away at Le Metropole!
Dr. Paul A. Racioppi, Jr., Brooklyn, New York,, Saturday, October 15, 2011.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor if available. It's always a bit nicer.

This is one of those hotels were the 'communal' areas (lobby, restaurant etc) are the most stylish, luxurious and well kept, while the rooms could do with a little updating. I had a suite (with separate 'living room') but the whole interior, especially carpet and wallpaper, had seen better days. To be fair - the style is too old-fashioned for me anyway but if you have carpets and all that stuff it needs to be spotless. Nice bathroom with separate toilet, but who wants Hotel Metropole branded toiletries? Staying on the second floor, traffic noise and views were disappointing. The best was the food. And the worst the cost of all extras - one of my biggest complaints with many 4 & 5 star hotels. But the Metropole wins the award for most expensive fruit - from the breakfast menu you can order half a grapefruite for - I'm not joking - 8 Euros! That's 16 Euros for one humble grapefruit - ridiculous.

For a hotel which is by the sea it is VERY CLOSED AND DARK... And for me the rooms are too small. But the Joel Roubouchon restaurant IS FANTASTIC!

Everything that everyone says, a truly magnifique looking building, impressive driveway spectacular lobby area, oozing luxury and calm- we felt very privileged indeed.
Reception was smooth , very friendly ( and attractive!) Slovakian lady brought us up to our room, showed us the ropes. I thought the room decor was a slight bit uninspiring, tired- not overly big either of course but no surprise there. Bed was a bit too hard for my liking, but pillows were great- had a choice of them too! Breakfast by the pool was fabulous....sunny location, very good service, and absolutely top class food. Talking of food, we had dinner at the Robuchon French Restaurant which was spectacular, I'll post a seperate review in the restaurant section but I would thoroughly recommend it. Yes expensive, but yes, very special. Thought it was a bit odd, but also very french, for there to be dogs in the room just outside the restaurant- two dogs that didn't like each other much by the sound of it too!
Minor point, but the Hotel gives you a card which gets discounts in the shopping mall under the hotel, and saves you the 10 Euro a head charge to get into the casino too- which was nice....

I agree with other peoples points about being away from the rabble of cruise ship tourists taking photo's etc like the do in the other hotels on the square- we walked around them too! You certainly feel more special and private here. The corridor leading from reception to the lifts is a beautiful, extravagant walk, all hush, calm and prestige.
