“Simple the best!”
Reviewed 26 November 2012

I recently booked a night in this hotel for my husbands birthday treat and it was absolutely amazing. From the moment we pulled up outside (in our battered old audi A3!) the staff were charm personified and couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. I've read some reviews that the staff treat you according to your car but we found none of that. Nothing was too much trouble and we were treated very well indeed. I can't imagine how they could treat anyone else any better than the service we got.
The hotel itself is a stunning building and the entrance hall is really something to see. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious, clean and well presented. As for the location - amazing. It's a real treat to stay right in the heart of Monaco, opposite the Casino, and you feel like a movie star! The added extras you get with the room such as entry to the casino, access to the beach & golf club are great as well and we're just sorry we didn't have enough time to take advantage of everything on offer.

An old and traditional hotel, one of the most luxurius I have ever stay, the best in Monte Carlo, next to the Casino of Monte Carlo. Huge rooms with all the conforts (every cosmetic in the bathroom was from La Prairie). Exceptional was the lobby of the hotel and of course the outside facade. Very very expensive (min euro 800/n.) but experience for life.

When considering Monoco as a destination, then you have to consider the Hotel de Paris as a must visit, either as a guest or as a visitor.
Set within the Place du Casino, this throwback to a bygone era just oozes chic and groomed wealth whilst delivering at every level.
All the bedrooms are well appointed with thoroughly modern fixtures but this does not detract from its historical roots. Equally, you will find that most rooms provide a light and airy feel to them, although this may be less apparrent if you find yourself in a room facing into the inward courtyard.
On warm day's breakfast can be taken 'al fresco' on a harbour facing terrace providing views of the sea beyond.
Formal dining is an experience on the 8th floor in 'Le Grill' with sliding roof and a delightful Souffles, of which the signature version dates back the the early nineteenth century.
For those who savour fine wines, the hotel boasts a cellar housing 600,000 bottles to which you can tour, have wine tasting and indeed dine in at their exclusive cellar dining room.
The staff are friendly, have multi-language skills and are extremely knowledgeable regarding the history of the hotel, Monaco and indeed the local region.
Within the square itself, you have the cafe de Paris opposite and are adjacent to the world famous Casino!
If you can afford it, this is the place to be seen - literally!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view!

The building is really a sensation, but the property needs serious innovations to meet all up to date needs of demanding travellers. Rooms are far from anyone's understanding of comfort. Most of them are noisy and with dull city view. Many of the stuff are insisting for undeserved tips and the doorman judges the guests by the car they drive or the jewels they wear. The hotel does not offer many options for entertainment and the concierges refuse to recommend anything else but the house's bars, restaurants and shops.

You know a hotel is something special when getting in late on the first night and ordering room service two waiters bring two tables into the room - one for serving from and one for eating from , the food beautifully cooked and presented and within 2 minutes of asking for the tables to be removed after finishing the meal they were gone! The room was very comfortable with a view overlooking the port , bed totally dreamy, bathroom large. Towels were replaced twice a day as standard. The public areas are exquisite , drinking in the American Bar was a great experience with cocktails expertly made and generous "nibbles". Of course you cannot fault the location. Only "gripe" - cost of Wifi - excessive and should be included in a Hotel of this class and cost. We loved our time (3 nights) and gladly recommend.
