“True luxury”

Everytime i am going to the South of France to enjoy the beautiful French Riviera I make sure i am stopping by the Hotel de Paris to enjoy a meal and visit the resort. I have been there so many times and this is always such a great feeling to enter into this exceptional palace. The service, the rooms, the suites, the atmosphere... you truly are in a luxury hotel. For dinner Le Grill is for me one of the best. The view is phenomenal, the service and the cuisine is exceptional too. Ask for Ludovic for wine recommendation, he really knows his wine.

Having visited Monte Carlo several times, whilst staying in the South of France, this was my first "stay" in Monaco.
I thought that this hotel would be somewhat too "showy", it was nothing like that. Its the best venue to stay in when visiting Monte Carlo with most attractions a very short walk away, the shopping, casino, cafe de paris, buddha bar, billionaires lounge and others with a 100 metres walk. The rooms are of high standard, we had a junior suite on the 7th floor facing the harbour, it had a separate lounge and study area, also a large bathroom and 3 wardrobes.

The view was fabulous. As a hotel guest you have access to all the SBM venue facilities, such as the beach club at the Monte Carlo Beach Club (which was great for a session by the beach or outdoor pool), the health lounge at the Hotel de Paris which had a great gym, indoor pool, spa and sun-deck for those wanting to get some rays (and of course the casino is free of entry costs) and a free shuttle between all the venues just incase you don't want to walk.

Breakfast is served on the outdoor sunbathed deck and is adequate (not fantastic), the museli for instance was more like a runny porridge than a real bircher museli, service was good though. Rooms are quiet, housekeeping very quick (You do need to call for an iron/board and they suggested they had a one hour limit due to safety risks??). All in all a great stay, easy access, efficient check in and check out.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor with bay views

Since I was a boy I dreamt to visit Monaco and stay at the Hotel de Paris. As a Formula one fanatic, addicted to James Bond films and recently passionate by Iron Man movies, to stay at this hotel was on my list of " things you need to do before you die" experiences. Last week my dream became true . After a trip on yacht in the Med we spent one day in Montecarlo before returning to the UK .

The hotel is located in Monaco's best spot next to the Casino and above the marina, overlooking the world's finest boats. The Casino Square is a very lively place where people come to watch " how the other half live" either spotting Ferraris, Aston Martins, Bentleys, Paganis or McLarens or people who are at the hotel or the attending the finest casino in the world (staying at the Hotel gives you free entrance to the building and also allows you to join the "privee rooms" where some very serious gambling takes place.

The entrance to the hotel and the lobby area reminded me very much of some of the Ritz hotels where I have stayed in the past such as the ones in London, Paris or Madrid. All the decor is exquisite, The floral displays are works of art. You really need to see it to believe it !!.

The gentleman at reception was very helpful. He was in his late sixties and probably having work at the hotel most of his life, you had the sense that he could tell you many interesting stories about some of the elite visitors that he hotel have hosted for well over a century.

"The galery" within the premises has possibly the largest collection of the best jewelery firms per square metre in the world.

The lift lovely old style. The room corridors, once again, reminded m very much of the Ritz style: very spacious and very long.

Our room was great. Possibly close to 50 square metres with a lovely balcony with views of another classic: the Hermitage Hotel. It had one of the most confortable beds I have ever slept in. The bathroom :very classy: all marble, once again very much in line with the Ritz decor phylosophy.

A very long corridor (which is an experience in itself) takes you to the Spa building which is shared with Hermitage hotel, another 5 star GL. I have never seen anything like it. All the facilities are out of this world including the best hotel gym and indoor pool I have ever used.

The hotel has several restaurants but its star is the ground floor one run but Alain Ducasse, an extremely well know superb french chef with several restaurants which hold 3 Michelin stars individually, including this one. We didn't have a meal here but if it is anything like the Alain Ducasse restaurant at the Dorchester Hotel in London, where I have dined many times, must be absolutely wonderful .

In the eve, after a very interesting tour in the Casino (James Bond was not in that day....shame !!!) we went to the hotel's very well known "American Bar" recently featured extensively in the film "Iron Man 2". There was an American soul/ pop band performing which were fabulous and certainly delighted the audience singing some classics with their own touch.

At the price of 700 euros per night not including breakfast certainly may sound rather expensive but I believe that when you take in account the whole experience it is money well spent. How much is a a forty year old dream which becomes real really worth !!

Hotel location is faboulous. Monaco is nice, however cement all over. Beside the casino, on the F1 GP circuit. Very snob city and people.

Hotel hall is magnificent (ok, waldorf Astoria is bigger, but I don't care too much about hall), even if full of escorts waiting for Clients at bar, entrance, restaurant.... This is very bad to me.

Services are superlative (o, they lost my baggage but the reason was not imputable to them but the chauffeur), room was big with a family wardrobe and huge fully furnished bathroom, shower, thub, wc, bidet, double lavabo, extraordinary soft towels, bathrobe.
Room was very big (504), overlooking the sea and the yacths port. Safe, tv, simmons mattress (a garantuee for a perfect sleep), desk and minibar. Hotel gadgets (umbrella, golf balls, cap, keyring etc etc) are present into the room and ready to be bought.

Concierge and cehckin very professional even if - strange (bad to me) - amex seems not accepted. Checkin person accompanies you to the room for the illustration of services and amenities of room and hotel.

Breakfast not minimal, but far than 5 stars lux. This was probably due to the convention I was wth, for an event.

Look at the pics. Room was perfectly cleaned.

Room Tip: Sea view is very nice.

Nothing can go wrong when you visit one of the best hotels in not only Monaco but probably a Leading Hotel of the world. Got a chance to experience this palatial hotel in a recent business trip. High points were the sea water pool in Thermis Marines, Workout in the Gym overlooking Port Hercule and the therapies at the spa.
In terms of service experience, I am sure a visit to any of the leading palace hotels in India would be at par. The only thing that did not work was that my room was facing Av Princesse Alice (essentially the back of the hotel) and there is a lot of vehicular traffic noise that you have to live with. GIven that I am a Mumbai person, it gives me a sense of being at home !
One other point was that the spa rooms are NOT really sound proof. While taking a therapy you would expect total silence - however, all the laughter and loud talk by the other therapists and customers are a big distraction.

And please don't forget to touch the statue of Louis XIV to improve your luck and fortune.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing Av Princesse Alice - Lot of traffic noise.

I have been to this hotel since I am a little child and have so many wonderful memories. Over the years the hotel has been continuously modernised of course, but it has always stayed true to its history and sophisticated character - the same is not true for its clientèle unfortunately.
The welcome by Aldo, Fabienne and Jean-Marc is always charming and wonderful, the rooms and the views are just stunning, as are the restaurants (Louis XV, Le Grill and Salle Empire in July/August). As a guest of the Hotel de Paris you have free access to the Thermes Marins (Spa), the Casino, the Beach Club and many other locations. I think there really is no viable alternative in Monte Carlo and I will happily return again and again!

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location, although I must say I am not a huge fan of Monte Carlo. That being said this was a great old European hotel. We stayed here on a leg that included the Crillon in Paris and a number of Four Seasons and this was one of the better ones. Great service, beautiful views of the sea and a delicious breakfast. I'd stay again.
