“Great hotel. Fantastic location”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

The cruise line put us here the night before our cruise. The location is fabulous. Right on the Mediterranean and across the street from Grand Casino. The room was very large and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was nice but small compared to the room. Everything was very clean and everything worked as expected. The free buffet breakfast provided by the cruise line was wonderful. Since we were tired from our long flight from the US, we decided on an early dinner/late lunch. We opted for the less expensive of the two restaurants. Lunch for 3 (salads, hamburger etc with no alcohol) was over 150 Euros! That's about $210.00. The food was good but not worth that much money. Never the less, we would stay here again, if we could afford the price.

The Fairmont deserves its brand recognition. The staff was efficient and helpful, the setting perfect on the water - - in fact built over the water, so it seems you are sailing. Our room was remarkably spacious, well-appointed and perfectly clean. Great starting point to walk around Monte Carlo and visit the most famous casino in the world. Rooftop restaurant for breakfast inside or outside, overlooking the harbor. Breakfast was a great spread, Great place!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the harbor

This was part of an Insight Gold, Playgrounds of Europe. They must have gotten a great rate because this is the kind of hotel where if you have to ask for the rates, you cannot afford it. Our room was one level BELOW the reception and I was initially upset because I thought we were being put in the basement! Then I stepped into the room and said wow. Nice size, gorgeous and overlooking the water. Fantastic. Excellent service. Great buffet breakfast up on the 7th floor (I think) overlooking the water. Very good variety with an omelet station, lots of goodies (croissants, donuts). Breakfast was included. Lunch was not and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price for a small plate of vegetables with dip (nicely arrange, mind you) was about 20 euros. But it really is a true 5 star hotel, near the Grand Casino and Cafe De Paris. There was a very nice pool (rooftop) and gym which sadly we had no time to use. Place to go if you want to splurge and pamper yourself. Oh, and they have their own casino on site. And a piano bar at late hours. And you will see more Ferrari cars pass in front of you in one day than you will see in your whole life (and the occasional Bugatti).

Room Tip: The room below reception has great views but ask to be put away from the area of the piano bar as yo...

Had 2 nights in this beautiful hotel. Having breakfast with big cruise ships passing by virtually meters away is simply stunning. The Buffet breakfast was delicious and the atmosphere was second to none. Also standing in your balcony overlooking the Grand Prix Hairpin is simply divine.
Worth the experience to see how the very rich and famous live.

Room Tip: Room with a sea view

We only had 1 night at this hotel at the start of a river cruise on the Rhone River. It is so big and we had to walk miles along the passages to get to our room. The room was very large and a very comfy bed and chairs. Big bathroom. Lovely big windows looking onto the garden. The buffet brekkie was excellent and the restaurant was amazing with a lovely verandah facing the sea. Having brekkie early in the morning was a treat watching the sun rise and all the big ships docking, but be careful with the seagulls they pinch your food. Nice big comfy chairs on verandah to relax and have coffee and read the paper.

This was our start of a great trip on a cruise ship with friends and to be honest we only spent one night in the hotel , but it was recommend by our cruise line and so I would have to say that is was totally suitable given what we were about to experience on the 5 star luxury cruise . Monte Carlo is a very cool place with lots to see . We were never still for a moment the 2 days we spent there and will have to hurry back again to see more . The Hotel D Paris was also a treat to visit and a must around sunset time for pre dinner drinks . The Marina , shops and everything was handy to the hotel and for those Grand Prix fans the track winds outside the front door .. Great fun .

For the umpteenth time we have for the circusfestival in fairmont Monte Carlo used. The reception and services are still very good- very friendly speech and fast service. The rooms the terrace to the sea in your view can't be beat - really great and very peaceful - without the noise from the street. The hotel gives a kind of cruise feeling-everywhere view of the water. The restaurants offer a good kitchen with perfect atmosphere and good service.
