“Amazing view, expensive wifi”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

The hotel is beautiful and you have a wonderful view of the sea, especially when you go to have breakfast on the seventh floor. There is a swimming pool on this floor aswell, I can mention one negative thing; the wifi was really expensive and using of the computer in the business centre.

Our holiday was far from cheap and we stayed in four hotels, Fairmount was one of them. We arrived in Monaco by train and phoned the hotel to request that they arrange for a taxi to collect us from the station. We were informed that that was not their responsibility and we would have to sort it out ourselves. We had to walk from St Devote up the hill with all our cases, by the time we arrived at this world class prestigious hotel we were exhausted. I complained to the Concierge and was informed that taxis were difficult to book in Monaco, Albert needs to sort something out there sooner than later. We were offered a free drink but did not bother to take advantage of the offer as we were too shattered to think straight. The staff generally were helpful and courteous and pleasant to deal with. Our standard/basic room was a ground floor room with no view other than a very large overgrown green bush that blocked out views and light. The room was pleasant and well decorated and the breakfasts served on the Horizon level on floor 7 were very good. If you intend staying at the Fairmount make sure you have enough money to afford a room with a view otherwise it could be rather disappointing. All in all not great value for money.

I made a booking with Ebookers for 4 nights over the Monaco Grant Prix weekend in May 2015. I have stayed at the Fairmont on 2 previous occasions over this weekend for the Grand Prix. Today I received a call from Ebookers saying that the rate offered (not cheap!) would no longer be honoured by Fairmont and the booking would be cancelled. I have now booked flights and other accommodation around these dates which will mean lost money. Other hotels in Monaco are now fully booked.
Disappointed Fairmont, you have over 600 rooms, I wood expect my booking to be honoured.

WOW! We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights after a week in Nice. I cannot rate it enough. We had a deluxe room (with balcony complete with sun lounger) overlooking the sea. On arrival, we were greeted by Anja who was very personable & professional. We were then introduced to the General Manager Mr Louis Stark who was incredibly welcoming & ensured that we had everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The room had a gorgeous bouquet of flowers that met us on arrival. A couple of hours later, we had champagne delivered to us (complimentary). It was utterly delightful & romantic especially as we were out there as part of our first wedding anniversary trip. We felt thoroughly spoiled and extremely well taken care of.

Our dinner reservations for both nights were taken care of by Mr Stark. He even went out of his way to ensure that we had the best seats in the house for the Fireworks display on the Saturday night. Unfortunately it rained BUT the staff were most obliging in finding us the next best available seats. The buffet dinner at Horizon was fresh, tasty, a great variety of dishes and came with complimentary champagne throughout the evening.

The staff were ALWAYS polite and courteous even greeting us if they'd walked past us on the corridors or when they did a turn down of our room in the evenings. We got such royal treatment that I never wanted to leave! There was no direct access to the beach however the hotel does have a shuttle service to take you there and back. You will need to reserve a space (on the beach) in advance but they take care of everything including towels.

Cannot wait to visit again. Mr Stark and his staff are an absolute compliment and asset to this magnificent hotel. LOVED every moment of it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 5th floor and near the lifts because higher up or lower down can get noisy fro...

The cost was enormous, the food was ok , but absolutely not worth the cost.
For better value and great food go outside the Hotel, the smaller the Restaurants the better the food and the cost was immensely lower.
Enjoy!!!!

My daughter and I arrived at the Fairmont Monte Carlo for a 3 night stay before embarking on a Seabourn cruise. When we arrived, we were taken to our "garden view" room ($450/night). My daughter, who travels a lot in Texas on business, insisted that we upgrade to a better room. Our view was of the back of the massive hotel and quite un -"garden like". We did get a better view in the next room ($100 more per night!), but the room itself was the same as the first one. The hotel designer must have wanted to give a cruise-ship feel to the hotel. The interior was complete with porthole mirrors on the wall, hallways that look like a cruise ship, etc. - and definitely not a Seabourn cruise ship!!!! All in all, our experience there was mediocre at best. The lobby bar service turned into self-service. (If you wanted a drink, you literally had to get up, find a server, and place your order. Then, the wait for the drink...... ) One high note about this very expensive hotel: my daughter and I got a driver to take us up to Eze for lunch. While we were en route, I remembered that I had left the in-room safe door open. It held our passports, fine jewelry, and money. We were to be gone for at least 6 hours. When we got to Eze, I asked the maitre-d at our restaurant if he would call the hotel and report that this had been done. He did so, and upon our return to the hotel, the safe was locked, and our contents were there. Kudos to the Fairmont for taking care of this. My mistake could have ended very badly.

Room Tip: The garden room that we were assigned did not have a view of the garden. If you stay at this hotel...
