I stay at this hotel three to four times a year (Since 2008) and can honestly say that I never have had a bad experience. Some people, especially over the last five years or so expect too much for the price they are paying. The Columbus is not 5 star, however I would rate it as a very good four star. One cannot expect the same level of luxury or cuisine as for example The Metropole or Hotel De Paris. These hotels offer the very best in Monaco but this is reflected in their tariffs. Expect to pay 400 Euros upwards per night for a basic room. For me personally I feel comfortable at The Columbus. All staff are very helpful without being too overpowering. This can sometimes, but not always,be the case at some 5 star establishments. The Columbus is clean and functional and rooms with balconies offer lovely views of The Med or well cared for gardens..very relaxing. Breakfast is very good and can be taken inside or outside on a quiet terrace. I understand that the hotel has recently changed ownership and this may bring forward a refurbishment. That said, the property is far from run down as some reviews suggest. A few 'lived in' rooms do not make a bad hotel ! Keep up the good work Columbus ! Look forward to seeing you all in May !

We stayed here for 3 nights and could not fault the staff. Great location. Breakfast good. Drinks in hotel expensive. Would definitelyreturn.

We had a great time here. The hotel was clean, friendly, with a great breakfast lounge. Loved the pool and surrounding park to walk in. No complaints for us.

We visited at the end of February-a three night break for me and my husband. The hotel in our opinion was perfect, situated in a lovely area -away from the built up area but close enough to have a very pleasant walk both to the palace and into Monte Carlo. The bus service is really good and frequent but we always walked as the weather was warm and sunny and the surroundings so nice. The staff in the hotel were very pleasant and efficient and the concierge was very helpful. Also we must mention that the atmosphere was comfortable and very relaxing and not at all intimidating. We would definitely return to the Columbus if we visited Monaco again. A real plus for us also was the helicopter transfers-brilliant-and so well organised!

We visited the Columbus hotel as a couple, and found it a great choice for Monaco. We had a lovely large room overlooking the Princess Grace gardens, and up to the mountains. The pool area was lovely and quiet, interrupted only by the helicopters taking off, which didn't bother us at all. A great bar, friendly staff, and a lovely part of Monaco.
There is a supermarket less than five mins away, and it takes only 10 mins ish to be in the port, but the buses here are excellent and really cheap, so it is so easy to get about. We used the bus to get to the Palace which is beautiful, with lots of lovely restaurants to eat in. We also used the bus to get to to the beach at Monte Carlo, and of course the Casino and Cafe de Paris, and Hagen Dazz parlour, all of which are a must.
A great base in an amazing place, we have been visiting Monaco for years, it is a truly fabulous place.
