Lovely hotel, immaculately clean and the whole place smells amazing. The rooms are simple but classy. The food is absolutely amazing. The breakfast buffet was the best I've had anywhere, so much selection and all fresh and delicious, unlike so many other continental buffets. Will def be back and highly recommend!

We booked the hotel based on availability with Avios rewards.

At the time I requested a Deluxe room with sea views. At checkin it wasn't available and we were upgraded to Junior Suite.

The room was great, low level, but good views of the Pool and ocean.

The staff was most helpful and accommodating.

Only negative is the continental breakfast wasn't fresh.

Overall a good hotel.

As for the breakfast, it is a hot buffet breakfast, not quite a Continental breakfast by French standards (choice of hams, cheeses, breads and viennoiseries, fruits juices, fruit salads, omelett, hard boiled eggs, pancakes etcc) . Great staff, beautiful lobby and our room was fantastic. Very big room with a huge terrace overlooking the rose garden. The bathroom was wonderful also! We walked from the train station which took about 15 minutes. there have a complimentary shuttle that took us to the casino, which seemed to be the center of Monte Carlo. It was a wonderful walk back to the hotel.. This hotel was really perfect.. I would have given this hotel an excellent rating except we were so disappointed that they closed their pool for " cleaning" as soon as we were checking in for a period of two days! We were so disappointed since we had just walked in the heat from the train station. They did not even try to compensate by offering us a cold drink of water. We heard from others that they were made to get out of the swimming pool, dripping wet so that it could get cleaned. Hint before you go: you are only allowed to have two devices on the internet---difficult for three guests to do. Please know that if you need a wake-up call, set your phone alarm too. I happened to be awake, thank goodness, because the wake up call ring was so soft and melodious anyone can sleep through it. Other than these few things, it really was an outstanding hotel and I would highly recommend the Columbus.

Stayed 4 nights for holiday. I had already booked, before I realised the hotel was not actually in Monte Carlo but a quieter more residential area near the smaller harbour of Fontvielle. But don't let that put you off! Around that harbour there are a number of restaurants, overlooked by the palace. Once I found my bearings it's only a 10-15 minute walk to the palace and about another 10 minutes to Monte Carlo harbour. (Head to the shopping centre up a few sets of escalators). There is a free shuttle but a bit hit and miss when it actually leaves. However the bus is only 2 euros and just over the road. In the other direction 10 mins walk away, just passed the stadium, is a lovely beach where you can rent a lounger for €15 euros a day. This was much better than larvotto beach.

Staff were excellent particularly reception who sorted a problem I had with my booking (not their fault). My room overlooked the other residential blocks rather than the sea or rose garden I guess it must be more money for those views. Breakfast was good although don't leave food unattended on the terrace as the birds will soon be having a nibble! I didn't venture to the pool as looked like shared amongst all the residential blocks. On my last day I did notice a sign in the lift to say it was closed anyway. There isn't a bar or restaurant which is a shame. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend if you want a quieter area to stay in.

Dear Guest, many thanks for sending such a detailed and informative review about the Columbus. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Concerning the pool, it was closed for 3 days because of sanitary problems and the hygiene services had to empty it and clean it. Now, it is reopen for the season. For the birds flying on the terrace and trying to steal some food, we have installed an ultra sounds system but unfortunately these birds are very rash !
and get used to lots of solutions we have tried. We hope to see you back to Columbus. Best regards C.

Stayed on a 3 day package with my wife and sons. Lovely hotel with great location near to the heliport. Rooms good and food of a good standard as well. Would recommend the hotel and we will return in the near future
