For as much as my general comment re: Monte Carlo would be "avoid it", as nowadays, it has just as much glamour as the hordes of Spaniards they discharge off the ferry for their 20 minutes "day trip" through the city, I can only recommend staying at the Port Palace. It wasn't even the most expensive place, but much better than others I have stayed at in Monte Carlo. Supposedly a Boutique Hotel, the rooms are still bigger than most Tokyo apartments, and the view is much better than what they show on the 50” (I don’t dare to say 60”…) screen you have as a TV in front of your 3 meters wide bed: many impressive boats and even more activities of the new- and old-rich on them directly under your window. The staff is friendly and obliging despite being Monegasques, the gym is ridiculous but existing, and I am a bit sorry, I didn’t have dinner there (but my private bank account doesn’t allow that and the business dinner was in another place), as the menu looked quite attractive. Not much “green” around it, but this is sort of implicit in a very urban surrounding.
PS: Nice pseudo-Jacuzzi they have…

Large room, large bed, large bathroom with an even greater shower. The desk was very helpful. Parking is no proble - you just leave it with the doorman and it suddenly appears when needed. The hotel is very well located for trips in any direction. Will definitely stay there again

We stayed here for 2 nights in August. The rooms were large & very comfy, great beds & block out curtains. It's in a great spot on the harbor, walking distance to everything. Breakfast was nice & staff were friendly. A group of six of us dined in the restaurant, overpriced & food ordinary, wine waiter was quite rude... Would definitely stay here again, but would dine elsewhere.

Rooms are large and well equiped with great views of Port. Location is also good. Would certainly recommend this hotel, but would not be inclined to eat in the hotel restaurant again after a disappointing experience.

We had a corner suite here for a couple of nights towards the end of our road trip across Europe. While the sat-nav found the hotel without any problem we couldn't see anywhere to park so pulled over in the public park where the huge yachts are moored. My wife ran across the road which it turned out is the exit from the tunnel in the Monaco Grand Prix and asked the doorman. 'He says pull onto the frontage and leave it to him'. Sure enough the car was unpacked and driven away until we needed it again and our luggage was delivered to our room. It is this level of service that epitomises the hotel. All the staff were charming even to the point of moving tables around on the sixth floor restaurant so we has a corner view of the harbour. This restaurant, by the way is a michelin starred one and quite deservedly so. The food is excellent and quite unusual.
For us this hotel has the best location in town and we would not hesitate to return. By the way, when we left they brought the car round and gave me a map of the F1 circuit so we drove it! No lap record though.

Room Tip: Room 201. It's where the photographers go to get the best pictures of the grand prix.
