A very pleasant surprise! A very nice, clean, quiet hotel with an excellent service. Extremely well located, with a beautiful view, from the windows of our 5Th floor room . The restaurant at the 6Th flour is excellent should not be missed!

The Port Palace Hotel in Monte Carlo is rated as 4+ star hotel. One would presume that in a city where the richest and presumable the most demanding of clientele go to vacation, this would to be one of the best hotels one could find. We can assure you however, this is not the case. On the positive side, the room we had was very big and the location on the marina was great, but thats about it for good points, as our experience with this hotel was primarily a negative one. I don't know where their 4 star rating comes from, but to us 4 stars and the price tag that comes with this rating, usually means you should expect to receive quality customer service. The Port Palace has a lot to learn in this area. We found the staff to be disinterested, rude, unknowledgeable, unhelpful, inconsiderate, and untrained in how to work in hospitality. After our complaints, the manager promised that there would be no other problems, but there were, of course, more problems (too many to list). This hotel proved to be a big disappointment. We would never recommend this hotel and will never go back.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious, featuring views out over the yacht-filled harbor and the palace on the horizon. The hotel's rooftop restaurant, Mandarin, was a great place to start off the day, with standard continental American breakfast fare and beautiful views of the sea. Meals at Mandarin are reasonably priced for Monte Carlo standards (check out the lunchtime Menu du Jour), especially since the restaurant recently received a Michelin star.

Travelers who are arriving by train should consider taking the short underground walkway from the station to the hotel since the tunnel ends less than one city block away from the hotel (versus taking a 15 Euro cab ride). Word to the wise -- you cannot flag down taxis in Monte Carlo, taxis do not wait outside the train station, and the taxi stand at the station is just a phone with a direct line to a cab company that rarely picks up and speaks only French, so I strongly recommend arranging taxi transfers ahead of time with the hotel.

Stayed here for one night before making our way to the Cannes Film Festival. My girlfriend and I had an absolute great time here. Customer service is fantastic and the location was very convenient....just a 4 min walk to Casino. A fantastic view of the water. Rooms are beautiful and outfitted to US standards. Only drawback...no pool, but frankly there is so much to do that we didn't even have time to think about going to a pool if there was one :)

The Port Palace was the most reasonably priced luxury hotel on the harbour in Monaco. The location on the harbour could not be beaten and we were pleasantly suprised with the room size.

Our superior room was spacious and the spa bath was the perfect way to unwind after a day out walking in town.

The harbour views were impressive - even from the first floor, although a little shaded by the roof - the window seat made it easy to gaze at the yachts and wonder 'what if?'.

The terrace restaurant entry way is only open until 11pm which means you have to take a ten minute detour around to the front of the harbour to get home after a night out, but it was worth it for the plush and roomy bed and all of the usual mod cons you would expect.

Service was efficient and when we requested an iron and ironing board it was in our room within a few minutes.

  • Liked — Location and harbour views
  • Disliked — A few issues with the elevator actually arriving - we walked down the stairs but it was fine as we left

Just arrived back from the Port Palace Hotel in Monte Carlo!!

Superb hotel with everything you require from a jacuzzi to cleaning your shoes. The staff were on hand everytime I required assistance, all very polite and happy to spare the time to help out. The hotel itself is very modern and is located overlooking the harbour, what a sight looking at the yachts on show. The deluxe harbour view had a mini bar although expensive, jacuzzi, walk in shower and a very spacious room.

The only downside i had was the hotel restuarant was being renovated which is a pity as the restaurant sits on the 6th floor and the views are fantastic. I would strongly recommend having some spa treatments although some can be expensive its totally professionally done and you could not fault the people involved.

The hotel sits between the harbour side and a main road leading to the main casino - the quick way is take the lift to the 6th floor and walk out that way - the main casino is 3-4 minutes walk.
For boys will toys i would recommend taking a shot at driving a ferarri around the grand prix circuit, its superb and an experience never to forget.

Overall i rate this one of my best experiences and cannot wait to go back.

We loved the location of this hotel, right on the marina, my husband loved looking out at the boats. Our room was very comfortable and better than we had expected. We booked a deluxe harbour view room. The hotel room was very modern and had all the mod cons that you normally get in a modern hotel. We found the staff had a little bit of a disinterested attiude. We had to ring 3 times for our laundry to be collected and had to ask 3 times for our car to be bought round, it finally arrived after waiting for an hour. Having said this the location of the hotel and quality of the room were what mattered most to us and we would stay here again.
