Ok so the room was pretty average but clean and if that were the end of the story I'd be less than impressed. The terrace makes a nice location to sit for your evening meal and the food was very good, lots of locals use it as a restaurant, always a good sign. I needed to be away at about 05.30 a.m to get to Vienna airport and enquired about early checkout. They were very helpful and concerned I'd have to leave before breakfast. Without asking an excellent packed breakfast appeared with sandwiches, water and fruit all at no charge. All the staff were very pleasant and genuinely sought to make your stay pleasant. Well done Gastof Klinglhuber for "going the extra mile".

We stayed in thr hotel which had lovely modern rooms with excellent bathrooms. However the restaurant is closed on weekends and there are no staff after 8.30pm. they give you a key to the side door to use after 8.30 but the door is very difficult to unlock. A modern hotel needs staff.

Everything seemed great about this place: high but still acceptable price, easy to find location at end of shopping street, English speaking staff, modern room with new furnishing, free bottles of water and good breakfast. However, the experience turned from five-star to zero-star when it comes to the shower. I stayed in Oct. The day was sunny but cool (about 10 degree C). I didn't have thermometer with me but let me put it this way, even with door shut, floor heater working, water turned at hottest possible, there's still no "fog" on the glass surface after a long time. I felt colder after taking the shower than before. (Room temperature is also not adjustable.) A request to reception about adjusting water temperature was met with " nobody else complains about no hot water". I guess I'm the only one complaining because I come from the tropics?
ps. the shower screen is badly placed and water splashed both the towel rack and floor near door.
pps. although it's modern hotel, there's absolutely no sound proofing.

We stayed at the Hotel Klinghubl for a night during a recent cycling trip through Austria in early September. It was located in the area above where Krems' main pedestrian zone intersects with a canal. There appeared to be several hotels in this particular block, all bearing the name Klinghubl. One hotel charmingly overlooked the canal and had a restaurant terrace. We, on the other hand, were given a room in the 60's style modern white hotel located directly behind the charming hotel, and thus had no view of any note.

The receptionist spoke excellent English and seemed genuinely dismayed when it turned out that the first 2 rooms we were assigned reeked heavily of stale cigarette smoke. She kept giving us more rooms to check out and Room 205 ended up being fine.

The Hotel Klinghuber where we stayed wasn't fancy but it amply provided everything we needed besides air conditioning. We were given a code for free internet access during our stay and there was much to choose from the large buffet breakfast included in our rate.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the inner courtyard

Family owned Klinghuber Hotel is a great place to spend a few days when exploring the Waldviertel and Wachau region. It's clean and conveniently located, the rooms are modern, bright and spacey, it has mostly showers (thanks god) rather than the old-fashioned bathtub with plastic shower curtains. It's not luxurious but very good value for money. If you pay a little more book a 3rd floor room with a little terrace. It's a low service hotel, so don't expect room service at the wee-hour or icecubes or somebody schlepping yr suitcases; but it gives you good privacy. Call ahead when arriving late - as things close early in the region. The Restaurant on the other side of the street is also family owned and serves tasty and basic local and fresh foods. Entering is a challenge as people still smoke at the bar and the air in the restaurant therefore has something smokey about. People inAustria still believe that smoking is a right, so they're somewhat backward on this still.

Room Tip: Pay a little more get 3rd floor rooms
