Stayed one night in early June as part of a walking tour of the Wachau. The room was clean but a bit light on extras such as tissues, soaps etc. Location is quite good being close to main part of town but far enough away to be quiet. Breakfast was adequate but a few more fresh items would have helped. The main issue with this hotel and the reason it does not get 4 stars was the casual and fairly off hand attitude of Reception staff - should try harder!

Booked this to stay as part of cycling the Danube Way to Vienna from Passau. Nice hotel lots of secure locking for bikes, although if you have your own keep it well away from the tour groups on rental bikes, as they have no respect for privately owned stuff.

Bit of a problem in that the hotel states rooms are available at 2pm. I arrived shortly after, wet all over from a thunderstorm, dripping on the carpet. Was told the room wouldn't be ready for at least half a hour. No apology, offer of a towel or even just a coffee to ward off the cold.

Stood in reception for half an hour dripping and shivering to the amusement of other guests before I got in my room.

No food available mid afternoon until dinner time as they close the kitchen, but better eating in one of the cafés in the village.

Breakfast a bit dull with no offer to cook fresh eggs, just what is on the buffet. No fresh fruit available.

Also no aircon so either a very stuffy room or a very noisy one as it overlooks the courtyard.

The room was very clean and the beds were nice. Breakfast was nice I think fresh fruit would have been nice. We spent the night and for the cost I felt it was reasonable. The owner works extremely hard. He was very kind to us.

Nice big rooms but hotel a bit anonymous. Bar pleasant and reasonable breakfasts. Also has restaurant attached to the hotel which was well frequented.

Very good location for centre of town and close to the monastery. Plenty of parking including for bikes

Rooms: one of the best that I stayed in in the last year. The seem as they were renewed. Breakfast is good. But the hotel lacks of atmosphere. It was practically empty, the staff is poor with English and I felt like I was alone there. Maybe because it is not the main season ...

We stayed one night in this Hotel and found it to be quite comfortable and perfectly adequate for a short stay. The rooms were extremely clean and very comfortable. Absolutely no complaints there. The only difficult part was that the staff we encountered spoke very little English so it made some things a little hard as we also spoke very little German. The dinner and breakfast waiter had absolutely no English and hung about constantly while we were eating dinner which made us feel a little pressured and we felt we were rushed through our dinner. Unfortunately we were the only people in the entire dining room so he had nothing else to do except tend the bar. The dinner was only average as well. We had eaten much better food at our other hotels. At breakfast there were no cereal bowls available for the cereal and once again communicating this was a little difficult when the same waiter spoke absolutely no english. We were on a Danuble cycling tour and this was one of the hotels we were put up at through this company. I feel that if they are dealing with tourists in this way then the staff at least need to have some basic English to communicate with their guests. It is in quite a good location and the town of Melk is really lovely. Overall it was a nice hotel but the extreme difficulty of communicating with the staff left us with the feeling that we wouldn't like to stay here again.

We had a reservation confirmation at the Hotel Wachau, but when we got there they did not honor it and said it was for this hotel, the Wachauhof. We were too tired to complain so spent one night at the Wachauhof. As others here have stated it is a bit rundown or maybe just plain unattractive. The location is fine and the room was basic, clean and quiet. There is no Internet access. The front desk staff was very congenial.
