We expected more after reading the reviews. Avoid this unless you have lot of spare time. It's not worth spending the money.

“more for toddlers”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

though as I did it myself when I was a toddler it was more of a nostalgic thing for us to do. It is still very sweet though and I would recommend it.

“Good experience for young and old to see Sebastian”
Reviewed 7 August 2013

Although this is aimed at children the exhibition of the old main centre of Linz is interesting to all. It is especially good to visit the Grottenbahn when the Christmas Markets are being held. The Fortifications around the Grottenbahn are also interesting built against Napoleon and the dastardly French who changed people from travelling on the correct side of the road ie the left. Although it was Adolf Hitler who changed the Austrians from the left to the right with his invasion in 1938 but in 1945 the Austrians did not switch back to the correct side of the road with the defeat of the Nazis.

“Fantasy Land”
Reviewed 28 June 2013

Grottenbahn is reached by taking the tram from downtown Linz up a pretty steep hill. The trip takes about 20 minutes but is scenic. Upon arrival, it's the last stop, there is great views of Linz and the surrounding area. There is also a church one can visit.

Walk around the church and there is Grottenbahn. There is an admission charge. Everyone hops on a small tram and starts the trip through Grimm's Fairy Tales. The Grottenbahn is old and campy but a lot of fun for those very reasons. Get off the tram and then you walk around a facade city with more fairy tales behind each house.

The exhibits are very well done. We, two adults, loved it, so kids will find it very enchanting.

If you have kids it is a don't miss in Linz.

Once exiting the Grottenbahn you are in a small park with a couple of gift shops and small eating establishments.

“Nice trip for the children”
Reviewed 19 June 2013

At the summit of Pöstlingberg, this turn-of-the-century Grottenbahn is easily accessible by the tram from the town square. There is a nice walk around and children will enjoy the scenes from various tales like Snowwhite, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Puss in Boots etc etc and where families with small children can go on the dragon train to trundle in a cave past gnomes and scenes from some other fairy tales..
