The food was not bad. Service mechanical. The atmosphere could have been better. It tries to be authentic, but it is cavernous and touristy. I would pass.

Some of the best food I have ever had, perfect service too, very attentive without being subservient. Excellent choice of interesting dishes, could have spent days working through the menu. Not the cheapest of restaurants, but worth every penny.

Was taken here for dinner by a business acquaintance on a balmy summer evening, perfect to enjoy food al fresco. As the inner courtyard was not available due to a rock concert(!), we were seated on their streetside terrace which turned out to be surprisingly quiet and comfortable (Schmiedgasse is a pedestrians-only street).
The food had to be seen and tasted to be believed! Chef Lorenz Kumpusch is one of these super-creative up-and-coming Styrian chefs we increasingly encounter, and not only in Austria. I had the Steierische Vorspeisenschmankerln (Styrian appetiser sampler), an inspired selection of five delicate local specialties made with top local and seasonal ingredients. These were presented so prettily and appetizingly on a longish plate that an American couple strolling by stopped, stared a bit and asked if they could take a picture... :-) My main dish were salmon trout (Saibling) fillets, beautifully baked and served on a bed of red beet-infused noodles and sour cream; this chef knows his fish! All of that was rinsed through with the help of a bottle of elegant morillon (the Styrian version of chardonnay), crafted by Armin Polz-Kiefer from his 2009 harvest --check him out at http://www.polz-kiefer.at
All in all a memorable dining experience, made even more so by a knowledgeable(!) and helpful staff. One minor caveat though: my dining companion said that by his own experience the same quality and care must not be expected from their set lunch menu, aimed at a different audience.

This restaurant is an absolute must when visiting the wonderful city of Graz, Gunther and Doris Huber and the rest of the team run a tight and efficient restaurant.

The food and wine are to die for and nothing is too much trouble for any of the team, I have eaten in this establishment on many occassions with parties of visitors on business and never had any complaints, only praise for taking my clients on a fabulous evening out.

I believe you will have missed a good evening if you don't go

The food was good Styrian cuisine, no complaints, but it was not extraordinary or particularly creative. The service was good and attentive. We found the place to be a bit too formal and stiff, leaving the impression of a slightly old-fashion restaurant. Overall it is recommendable for a more formal occasion, but not so much for a regular night out.
