“Must eat there when you are in GRAZ”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We checked tripadvisor and asked our concierge at the hotel where we should eat out on our wedding anniversary. After the information we got we had to chose the Landhauskeller in Graz and we were delighted.
The restaurant is in the middle of Graz, very close to the town hall.
Since it was a warm day -May 26, 2014, the inside restaurant was closed they served entirely in the courtyard. We were welcomed by 'Ernst' and his staff, he was the one who took us to the table we favored.
We studied the menu, but finally followed the advice of the waitress and ate typical Styria food. We were delighted about the quality and the presentation. Portions were perfect so we could eat them entirely. Prices of quality accordingly, somewhat on the expensive side but worth each Cent.
I mentioned in a brief conversation with Ernst that we are celebrating our 42nd anniversary that day and shortly after, he arrived with a plate of fine desserts with a new year firework in the middle. That's on the house, he said. A very nice touch and great surprise for us.
From entering to leaving the restaurant, we were thrilled. We think it's 'must' to eat at this restaurant when you visit Graz.
Hint: Maybe mention this report to Ernst there is a good chance that he will surprise you as well.

“Styrian ambience and attentive service”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

I liked this restaurant better for the Styrian ambience and the careful service than for the food.
While the Styrian ham was fine, the main course, which was a combination of 'saibling' with noodles, not convincing. The wine by the glass was good..

“Nice restaurant in Graz”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

Landhaus Keller is a nice restaurant in Graz city center.
We have tried main dishes, pumpkin soup and wine, which are all local (Styrian).
Everything tasted very well. The portions were quite big.
The only disadvantage is that the dinner was quite expensive, maybe a bit overpriced.
But overall experience was great!

“Interesting story”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

This is an interesting restaurant. Our pre-dinner activity included a tour of the vast cella, including a wine tasting, some history telling and canapes (liver pate balls -incredible), all of which were fantastic, as was our host. It is a great story. Seating upstairs was in a booth with fine linen and cutlery, although I found it a little cramped. I had a fabulous steak (possibly a little too much), whilst some of the group had some very traditional Austrian food (boiled meat for some and a smoked fish dish), and there were giant schnitzels for others "breaded" in a local (pumpkin?) seed mix. These, they said, were a little dry, but tasty. In fact, the seed mix was everywhere in different forms. There is also a nice little bar as you enter, for a pre dinner drink. Seemed reasonably priced.
