“Lovely experience”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

Travelled to Graz in early February on business. On checking in to the Augarten, was upgraded to the apartment over the Magnolia restaurant and felt like royalty with the amount of rooms and amenities. The deck was really nice to sit on in the afternoon. The bedrooms were comfortable and well appointed, Beds comfortable and overall, the unit was spotless.
The staff put together a plate of fruit and cheeses and house made bread for me as I was starving when I arrived. I ate three meals at the Magnolia and each one was better than the last.
The staff were friendly and attentive and the location was very convenient to the town center and the Schlossberg.

Breakfast was delicious each morning, with a variety of delicious and healthy options.

Dear RPTDen!

We were delighted to read your more than positive feedback on tripadvisor. We are glad that you enjoyed the upgrade to one of our four apartments which are really spacious and perfect for a longer stay. Of course we can always prepare individual meals for our guests and are pleased you liked our cheese plate as well as our breakfast buffet. The magnolia is our rewarded restaurant and we read with pleasure that you seem to have enjoyed every bit of it.

We are looking forward to hopefully welcoming you back soon.

Location, regardless of the exact measurements, makes this hotel not a very convenient walking location to the inner town or old town. We are fast walkers too, but felt once we left the hotel we would have to be out for the day or at least only to return once. Usually there is a benefit in price for being inconvenienced by distance. The price is puzzling, because the hotel is significantly more expensive and no better than those closer into the old town so what is the benefit? I was not able to tell. At first I thought it was the close proximity to a green park and the river, but after moving later closer into the the old town I soon found much closer larger parks and walkways. There is really no reason to pay so much for this hotel. The breakfast is also overpriced, double that of other places for exactly the same if not a weaker fare.

Staff can be very nice, or judgmental, or completely sarcastic - it's hit or miss. The set up of the underground parking is convenient as it is connected to the elevator which takes you to your room’s floor. Rolling your bags along the outside of the balcony to your door feels like an American roadside motel. Once inside the steel door you nicely have the ability to close off the noise to the outside with another interior door. The room is a nice comfortable size, with a comfortable clean white, fresh feel. But the furniture while once deemed modern is about 10 years past exceptional. The hanging art inside the room is interesting, as are the works throughout the garage and hotel. The bathroom is uselessly enormous, would have been better to have a larger room. But the cute gift duck sponge and colorful toiletries add a sense of a 4 star-ness to the place as do the free fun magazines, hand-written welcome note, bedside apples and 24hr luxurious pool. Though, there is no coffee or tea in the room. There is a beautiful amount of storage for business stays and wifi is free. Our room offered a massive shared terrace with interesting art sculptures, which over looked nothing much, but offered a nice feel. Because the terrace is shared an open window means you do what your neighbors do and in this case it was smoke all night.

After personally viewing the other hotels closer to the all the restaurants and museums, we moved and it was a great decision. You know...

Room Tip: try not to get a shared balcony in summer if you are a non-smoker. there is an additional charge fo...

I went for a weekend in Graz and, being part of Design Hotels network, I had booked trustfully in this hotel. I was glad then to find out that the choice had been done so good. Large room, beautiful interiors and tiny details like the duck shaped sponge in the bathroom. Good breakfast with lots of fresh choices. The hotel is also located in a very quiet area and just 15 minutes by walking from the center. Absolutely the perfect choice in Graz.

We spent just one night at the Augartenhotel and got a room with a balcony at the 5th floor. The room was perfectly clean and very nice furnished. Breakfast in the morning was superb and it was served in an elegant setting. The personnel was very kind and helpful. The position of the hotel is also convenient, just ten minutes walk from the city center and near a pleasant park and a long trail along the Mur river. Without any doubt we recommend the hotel to everybody who is looking for a quiet and hight quality place in the charming city of Graz.

Dear Marina N,

It was our pleasure to read your kind words about our art & design hotel. Almost all of our rooms are equipped with a terrace or balcony and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We are proud to say that our breakfast buffet is very special, always offering the freshest products which are mostly organic and from the nearby countryside. Indeed we are only a stone’s throw away from the beautiful city center of Graz and the Mur river.

Thank you again for your great comment and we hope to welcome you back soon. Your augartenhotel team art & design

We visited this hotel on new year holdays. We decided for it after analyzing tripadvisor. The service was excellent indeed. The Staff was so gentle and always ready to help us in order to find restaurants for the evening, a nice place for the last evening of 2013 and they suggested a nice and really confortable "Spa" near Graz.
The room was ok, the own garage is easy to get to and the price is fair.
The room was quite warm but this could be our personal taste only. Essentially it was very good accommodation. Breakfast was fantastic and the price was ok because of the quality and quantity of it.
The swimming pool was nice but, unfortunately, we did not swim because, in our opinion, water was too cold.
The sauna was nice and all was very clean.
We were greeted by fantastic reception staff: Cornelia and her collegues helped us every day of our holiday (5 nights) and gave us useful advices for a trip to Wien.
The Hotel is more beautiful inside than outside. It is modern and full of contemporary paintings.
Town centre is a 10 minute walk away so well situated.
All in all, this is a good choice and I would happily stay here again.

Dear paolo f!

We are very pleased to hear that you have decided to stay at our hotel in Graz for New Year’s Eve. The last night of 2013 was very special and we feel honoured that after reading tripadvisor your choice fell on us. Our whole team tries to perform at their best level and friendliness in the hotel business is for us of utmost importance. Thank you very much for mentioning the price. Our price reflects the quality and service of our hotel and it is great that you agree with that. The swimming pool in our leisure area has the temperature of a sport pool and therefore is heated up to 25 degrees, not more. Of course we try to advise our guests on trips around Graz as well as on things to do and where to eat within the city centre. We really hope to welcome you back soon and are very much looking forward to seeing you again. Your augartenhotel team art & design

This hotel has it's own garage (for a reasonable fee), and is easy to get to. We walked into town numerous times and it is not far at all, making this a great choice if you have a car.
We booked a medium room and got a corner room (windows all along 2 sides) with an unexpected kitchenette. The room certainly had the "WOW" factor and was very comfortable and functional indeed. There was a couch which was lovely, but the TV could only really be watched comfortably from the bed. The bed was good and the bathroom was large and well appointed, but thanks to the heated floor, it was too warm (for us anyway). The room was also quite warm and we slept with one of the windows open (in December), but this could be our personal taste only. Essentially it was very good accommodation.
Breakfast was not included, and although good, was a bit expensive in my opinion. It was a good spread, but we did do better elsewhere on our travels. The omelettes (cooked to order) were lovely.
We needed laundry done and this was carried out in less than 24 hours, very, very efficient indeed. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and efficient.
All in all, this is a good choice and I would happily stay here again.

Dear EmeraldDiva!

Thank you for your comment on tripadvisor. We do offer parking in our hotel owned garage which is very convenient since the parking in the city centre is not the best and very expensive. We are glad to hear that you found your room beautiful, since our corner rooms have a specific charme. The double medium category offers a spacious room and leaves space for extras such as a small kitchen or a couch. We are sorry to hear that you thought the room was too warm. In general during December it would have minus degrees but this year it was exceptionally mild. Thank you for commenting on our breakfast. We will definitely compliment the kitchen for their omelettes since it is repeatedly mentioned that the taste of them is lovely. The laundry at our hotel is always done as fast as possible and we are happy that your laudry service was done to your full satisfaction. We would be glad to accommodate you again in the future. I visited this hotel in early December on a business trip. It is the second time staying here. The service was wonderful. The staff always pleasant and helpful. This hotel has the elegance of an upscale hotel while retaining the personal touches that makes me feel welcomed and appreciated. Some of our US hotels could learn a lot here.

We also reserved a conference room in the hotel for one of our business meeting. It was perfect, with the attention to details and to our needs that made it a successful meeting.
