“Amazing trip”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

Book one day for this place. Enter the area around 9AM, spend the two hours on the way up. Park the car up on the top parking lot and walk to the peak with hundreds of cows and bulls around. You will see the most beautiful nature in Austria with amazing scenery all over the lakes around.

“Easy way to get a great view”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

The road is great way to get into the mountains quickly for a beautiful view. We have taken all our visitors there, and even those who are not very mobile could enjoy it. For the more active, I highly recommend the walk to the top. It takes about 90 minutes, but there's a café (hut) at top, so you can reward yourself with a great apple strudel or even a beer. On a clear day the views are fantastic.

The only downside is that it's a little expensive, but if you get a Kaernten card (discount card for a lot of attractions in the region), it is cheaper.

“A beautiful drive...amazing views!”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

When in Villach be sure to drive the Alpenstrasse. 16 km drive through some of the most beautiful mountain scenery. Many stops along the way, hiking trails abound. From here you can see views in Austria, Italy and Slovenia. Pack a picnic lunch and be sure to take your time. Simply beautiful.

“Nice walk and great views!”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

We walked to the top of Dobratsch in fist week of May 2014. The road to the car park is well looked after, the entry costs 15,50 Eur for one car.
The walk is not difficult, it was a great fun walking up in the snow conditions. It took us just under 3 hours to walk up to the top and down to the main car park.
Unfortunately the Alpine gardens were closed at this time of the year, but we will back for more!
Great views of my favorite mountains- The Julian Alps!
We had a cake and tea in the cafe at the main car park, sweet, but the apple strudel was a bit of a disappointment ;0

“new price”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

Just a little update on price: now you have to pay the entry fee per car, not per person. The muber of person is maximalized, but 15 EUR is the price for one car. That is great. I still love this mountain. We always make a walking tour from the top parking place to the top of the mountain, which is about 4 hours (up and down). Tolilet is always available at the restaurant however it is not always open.
