A lot of hotels claim to be ski in ski out, the Roemerhof actually is! On some days we could literally ski to the door of the boot room, which had boot warmers and individual open room lockers to store gear. The ski hire place is also just outside the hotel which was really useful.

Our room (suite) was fantastic and easily the best ski hotel room we've had - big and well thought out with lots of room for clothes and plenty of hooks for wet ski gear. It was also really quiet (apart from a gang of running children in the early evening). The bathroom was again generous in size and had a walk in shower as well as a bath, there was also underfloor heating. The view was also stunning - an beautiful panoramic view of the mountains.

The bar area was good with plenty of seating areas and Loukas the bar man, very attentive, charming and friendly. We did also visit the Romerbar, which sadly didn't open until 8pm, I wish it was open earlier as it would have been a great apres ski bar.

The food at breakfast was superb, with an extensive choice and fresh pots of coffee served at the table. The hotel also supplied cakes at teatime, although you had to pay to have a cup of tea with them! The food at dinner on the whole was very good, some excellent fish courses and the superb desert buffet (especially the chocolate creme brule!) were highlights. I did however find that any red meat served was overcooked, but that might just be down to personal taste. Service was superb, the wine menu extensive and the food was plentiful with lots of choice.

Overall our stay was very good and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: If you can it's worth upgrading to the suite, the rooms have stunning mountain views with a fren...

Just returned from a 6 nights stay at this hotel. This place is the best the austrian hospitality can offer.
The rooms are very spacious and clean and have their own fridge too. As a family of 3, we shared one, which you can split by door, so everybody can get a bit of privacy. There is also a free Wi-Fi available in the rooms and some public areas in the hotel. It also has got their own underground garage, 1 room = 1 parking space, which was great as it was snowing all week long and it would be very difficult to dig our car out when departing.
Food was 1st class. They offer half board basis which was plenty. Buffet for breakfast with plenty of choice, the pastries were amazing. And then 4 course menu for dinner with fresh salad buffet. All the meals were very tasty and beautifly presented. There is a choice of 2 different soups and choice of 4 different main courses, 2 different kinds of meat, fish and vegetarian dish. Nice choice of desserts too. There also was a cake buffet available from 3-5pm. Can´t tell how the cakes were, we never managed to try them out as we were always too full and trying to keep space for a lovely dinner but I´m sure they are very tasty too. The hotel has got their own bar with good wine and whisky selection. The coctails were good too and they also do live music, karaoke and disco so you wont get bored.
The Spa and pool area are great too. Very clean and plenty of treatments to choose from.
Staff were very friendly and helpfull. Dont need to bother about where to get the ski passes, they will get them for you at the reception, just need to ask for them on your arrival.
The location is fantastic. Just a short walk from the village centre and right on the ski slope.
Would definitely recommend!!!

Great hotel that delivers a perfect 4 star experience. Rooms are well appointed, meals are superb and it is a great ski in/out location on a blue slope. Indoor pool and spa facilities complete the picture perfect experience!

We were moved to this hotel after our original hotel could not complete the booking, we had the best service ,fantastic rooms and food which could never be faulted in any way, rooms were vast especially if you have a family, fantastic bathrooms etc, the spa was a real treat and staff were attentive and charming at all times, location could not have been better with ski in ski out and ski rental shop on site and superb value for money you can package ski rental and skipass with the booking. We have skied as a group for over 20 years and this hotel has to be the best ever, I would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: family rooms overlook the slopes

We stayed at the hotel during our ski holiday. We spent 7 nights there. Our room was big and comfortable, with separate toilet and a bathroom with a bath tube. The room was very clean and had a nice view. The only thing I did not like about it was the bed - it was extremely hard! It took me several nights to get used to it and be able to sleep the whole night without waking up a few times in uncomfortable positions.

But it wasn't the room that was the best about the place. It was the wellness and relaxation area! The hotel had a swimming pool (a bit cold I must confess, I'd rather it was several degrees warmer!) and a tepidarium that were available to all, and a relaxation area and wellness area that were available to adults only. The relaxation area had about 15 beach recliners. The room was bathing in warm lights, the walls and ceiling were painted in relaxing, warm colors and relaxing music was played. We used to spend a couple of hours there before dinner, reading. Since no children were allowed, it was very quiet, except for occasional snores. Next to the relaxation area there was a wellness area. In it there were 3 types of sauna, foot massage and a jacuzzi. My favorite was an inhalation sauna - the temperature there was slightly lower then in Finnish sauna - about 60-70 degrees C. The light was changing every minute or so, varying between all the colors of the rainbow. The room was filled with an etheric oil, smelling of apple, cinnamon and some other more subtle ingredients. Extremely relaxing after the whole day spent skiing in bad weather! But one word of advice - the wellness area is naked area! You're allowed to use a towel (most don't), but not a bathing suit. So if you feel uncomfortable seeing and being seen naked, stay away!

My next word of praise goes to the restaurant. The food was delicious(even if the choice each evening was between fish and two meat dishes, and I'd prefer to have a vegetarian option to choose as well). Every evening we were served 5-course dinner - appetizer, soup, salad buffet with huge choice, main course and 3 types of dessert to choose from. The wines (Austrian only) recommended to the menu were expensive, but good too. And the stuff was extremely attentive, always smiling and making us feel as friends, and not guests.
Breakfast buffet was copious. Between 15:30 and 17:30 there was a free cake buffet as well.

The hotel was right by the ski slope, connected to it by a ski bridge. On the other hand, it was quite a walk (10 min. carring skis) from after ski at Lurzer Alm (see separate review).

And one more thing - as I learn German, I cherish every opportunity to practice it. Three years ago I went skiing in Bad Gastein, expecting to practice my German. In fact, I'd used a few month brushing up my German before I went. To my huge disappointment nobody wanted to speak German! Even if I started the conversation in German, the reply was delivered in English! It made me really frustrated! So this time I expected it to be the same. But it was not! Of course, the whole stuff was speaking English as well, but I could practice as much German as I wanted this time!
