Marietta Hotel
Ranked #22 of 35 Hotels in Obertauern

Spacey rooms, poorly and kitsch decoration, a permanent feel that the management wants the costs low as possible.(Even in mattresses quality).
Every thing that you would ask for has a price in this hotel. Nothing comes for free. Even smiles. Tab water is charged! Wine list pricing is excessive and wine service extremely poor. Food at the low end for an Austrian hotel of this category. When we asked to have some sandwiches instead of our pre-paid buffet breakfast due to our very early check out the management simply said no. They just don't care.
To cut a long story short: I do not see any reason to stay at Marietta for any reason except if they lower their prices at least 50%.
But even then why to go to this remote, indifferent village of hotels, where nothing never happens, ski passes are expensive, mountain restaurants are lousy and full of smoke and not choose the much more easily accessible, picturesque, interesting village of Flachau?

We stayed at The Marietta in March & had a fabulous skiing holiday. Location is superb. Hotel is very friendly & the service was vey attentive. Stayed on the top floor (room no. 450) room was very clean & the chambermaid very helpful. The room was dated but adequate. Would recommend this hotel for a ski trip to Obertauern.

We booked last minute trip for skiing long weekend in Oberatuern. This is our third time in this hotel and every experience is really great. Hotel is large, austrian, clean with great kitchen staff and great souna and spa. Parking is large, and rooms are comfortable for several people. For children they have play room and cinema. Only thing that we will expect is flexibility but probably they have so many guests that they do not need to adjust ... All together, will recomend for skiing, as you can easily go to all sloeps very easy :-)

We have stayed with a group for three nights in the hotel and we had a great time. Breakfast and dinner in half board were very good - lots of choice - the kitchen staff was very good. The hotel has also parking facilities which is very good (you have to have good parking skills though ! or a small car :) )

But already from the start ,at the reception desk, you don't feel welcome ; no single smile - not one word of explanation if you don't ask ; no sign of the traditional Austrian hospitality. The day of leaving , the weather was so nice that we wanted to ski for a few hours and check out at 13.00 instead of 11.00. This was just not possible without paying quite a big extra; even after a lot of negotiation - not one sign of friendliness, understanding ! A little commercial effort to keep satisfied customers = just not done.
It is really a pity to have to write this ! And this leads us very probably to not going back !

Room Tip: park your car at the same floor as your room , as you can enter by the lift in the same floor !

Booked last minute with Inghams and the hotel was well worth the price. The hotel is across the road from a bridge that leads to a little track right onto the slopes so although not strictly doorstep skiing it's as near to it as you can get. You can ski back down to the bridge too. Hotel itself is lovely, really clean, good food with lots of variety, friendly and helpful staff, good room size and standard with plenty of storage. The hotel has a good boot room with warming spikes to dry them out overnight. We tried out the spa too. Although the pool is quite small it has some areas with little Jacuzzi jets which is fun and a really nice small sauna. Bar area is really lovely with deep squash sofas, great to chill out.
Only downsides were no tea/coffee in the room - is available but expensive at 10Euro per day and charge 2Euro for carafe of water on the table.
Obertauern as a resort is great too. Not far from Salzburg airport, plenty of restaurants on the slopes and good variety of blue and red runs. Great for me as beginner/intermediate skier and plenty to keep my experienced skier partner busy!

We had made our booking at the last minute and were nearly put off going by the reviews on here. However, we we had a great time at the resort and we couldn't fault the hotel at all.
The staff were all extremely helpful and well trained. The food was really good and our room very comfortable.
We couldn't fault it and would definitely stay there again.

Just had a super week at a hotel that really delivers excellent customer service by well trained staff. The owner often quietly seeing how the `ship` was working. Food is buffet style, executed in a smooth and stylish way. Always a full selection even if you were nearly at the end !!!!. Only negative is payment for a carafe of tap water with dinner. V good Austria wines and price not too high for a 4* hotel. Spa had a v good Polish masseur - the polish butcher, v strong sports massage, body massage was better. Everywhere v v clean in true Austrian fashion. Hot water by the gallon that filled the enormous bath in our junior suite. Good to have a safe that is easy to use. Hairdrier and mirrors in the bathroom were v good and met a `girls` requirements. 2 mins to the slopes and excellent boot warmers in the ski room so for first time ever did not need my boot drier.Would we return - yes and are already recommending it to others. We went as part of a package with Inghams and (apart from our luggage being left at Salzburg by the ground staff at the airport, received less than 48 hours later) had a fabulous week, thanks to all concerned. Well doneto the Marietta team.
