Stayed for a week over the New Year period at the Hotel Steiner with my husband and three teenage daughters.
Initially was worried that it would be difficult to access the resort lifts from the location of the hotel but it turned out that you only had to cross over the road (which can be busy at peak times) and walk up a very small mound and then you can ski to the gondola and 4 chairs and on the way back to you ski down to the road again so this was not a problem at all.
Typical family run Austrian style hotel but with the added benefit of an indoor pool and spa areas. The thing that really stood out was the friendly atmosphere from the very first greeting from reception to our fantastic waiting staff at dinner. The owner is very much hands on, eating in the dining room with his family at breakfast (very cute baby son!) and always around greeting people at dinner so everything is very smooth and efficient.
We were there for New Year's Eve when the hotel put on a big gala dinner with a fantastic band and then fireworks.
The food was consistently good and beautifully presented- always a salad buffet, then starter, soup and a choice of three main courses and two puddings. The only slight criticism is that it was slightly limited if you were a complete vegetarian but we requested a different main course at the Gala dinner for our non-meat eating daughter and the kitchen staff were always happy to oblige.
Skiing was very good but because of the spa and indoor pool it is also a good choice for those that don't want to ski all the time.
