Just beautiful flowers/garden, what more do I really need to say. Pick your time of season, take your camera and a slow stroll through the gardens.

Only wandered the gardens. Beautiful stroll filled with a garden of roses, a fountain and sunshine. Lovely.

Don't miss visiting the garden when in Salzburg. It's a beautiful garden with great views of the castle. You don't have to be a fan of the movie to enjoy it. We visited during spring when the tulips were in full bloom. It was absolutely beautiful! The horse fountain and "Do-Re-Mi" steps look as good as the day the movie was filmed. Don't forget to take pictures of the dwarf statues in the garden at the top of the steps. There's a scene in the movie with the kids dancing around these statues. The trees in that garden keep the statues shaded. They can easily be missed if you're not looking for them.

We spent several hours touring the gardens, smelling the roses, watching the art students sketching various scenes, having lunch on the benches, watching the brides posing for their wedding pictures and listening to Salzburg from within. One evening we attended a lovely concert inside Mirabell Palace. It was very moving and the acoustics were better than the finest stereo. While it was mid-September there were still plenty of blooms to fuel the imagination as to the floral symphony that will occur in the spring and summer. Must see!

A great place to stop for a break and enjoy the beautiful scenery that is Salzburg. Make sure you keep walking through the garden and reach the rose garden. A nice quiet nook to relax and if you are lucky some buskers will be there - to add to the romantic ambience.
