“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We stayed here for about a week, and found the experience very pleasant. We had a corner room at the end of the hallway, with a spacious windowed bathroom, and windows on both walls which allowed for cross-ventilation. This proved to be great as the temperature outside got hotter by the day (the rooms do not have AC). The room was charmingly decorated with thoughtful paint colors, and was kept very clean.

Two points proved to be bothersome:

1) As in most European hotels, a "king" size mattress meant 2 single beds put together, and in this case the mattresses were not contained within a frame, so they kept sliding apart. Also, the mattresses were very basic, light sponge ones.

2) The white shades, which are electrically operated to shut and open by a switch on the wall, were too thin, and did not keep the bright sunlight out in the early morning.

We still give the hotel an "excellent" rating, as the spaciousness of the room, friendliness of the staff, renovated state of the hotel, and quiet nights proved to make up for the above-mentioned imperfections. We would definitely stay here again, but will remember to bring our sleeping masks next time!

Room Tip: Ask for an 07 room, you'll get more space, light and air for the same money!

It is at least my fifth time at that hotel since it was Austrotel Salzburg. A great location opposite Mirabell Palace and gardens, only 5 min walk from Old town and 10 min walk from the train station. The rooms are nice and clean, breakfast is excellent with a wide variety of food and juices, the staff are very helpful and pleasant. I will definitely stay there again.

It is a well located with excellent customer service. Hotel and Rooms are cleaned daily, beds made, clean towels. Also excellent Buffet breakfast. Front desk well informed and helpful. Front desk was helpful in finding places to visit in the city.

Room Tip: Rooms are good size with 2 double beds if only for one person. Very comfortable beds and rooms quiet...

I stayed here at the end of March and it was lovely.
The staff were so friendly, And very helpful.
The room we had was on the top floor, the modern rooms and we couldn't of asked for anything better, we had so much space to walk around the room, a minibar a safe and the hotel has free wifi, great for staying in touch with family.
Also there is a free bar downstairs with tea or juice. Just a few refreshing choices. But very handy.
The view overlooked some more buildings but wasn't disappointed, as how much time do you actually spend in your room.
It's situated right opposite the Mirabell Palace and gardens, where the Famous Julie Andrews danced around.

And also there is a lovely little bakery right next door to the hotel.
There is lots to do and I do recommend going across the road where there's a bus stop and catch the 21 bus I think it was and go to Untersberg Mountain, it was amazing. And I suggest you go early and the views are fantastic.

The only thing that confused me
Was the hotel was called MirabellPlatz
But when we booked, it was called Austrotel..
Just slightly put me in a panic of where am I lol
5* :)

We stayed at this hotel for two nights when visiting Salzberg. It is opposite the Mirabell gardens ( Sound of Music location) and delightful as well. There is no restaurant but we would particularly recommend Zwetlers in the old town -fantastic atmosphere and great food. Try the wheat beer !

The hotel was very clean and good value. We had a front room and although offered an alternative at a supplement we stayed at the front. With the double glazing we couldn't hear a thing. The breakfast is extensive and filling but quite pricy at 15 euros. If you don't want such a big breakfast go to the bakery next door.

Overall it was excellent and we would stay there again

Room Tip: See note about a room at the front. Very light sleepers could ask for a room at the back.

Lovely hotel, helpful staff. Brilliant position in the city - made exploring much easier. Breakfast was pleasant, although I would have liked them to perhaps have varied the hot options each day - they were the same every day. That said, it was still very nice. Staff were courteous and helpful.

We stayed four nights in February. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and English speaking. Our room on the second floor was quite basic but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom looked a little tired but again it was very clean and the shower had plenty of 'whoomph". We had a mini bar but there were no tea making facilities in the room. However, free tea / coffee / soft drinks were available in the small lounge area near the reception.

Our room was nice and warm despite the cold weather. I could see no aircon in so it just might get a bit stuffy at the height of summer. The main road was quite noisy at times but we had no problems sleeping with the window open at night (we were on the second floor).

I can't comment on the quality or value for money of the hotel breakfast as we preferred to have a lighter breakfast in town, either at the Cafe Mozart or a breakfast in style the Sacher Hotel (the latter is highly recommended)

Staff on reception were a mine of useful information on best places to go, how to get there, best places to eat and were always pleased to be of help.

The hotel is in a nice location with the old town a short walk across the river. Although the facilities are basic it deserves a better than average score on the basis of value for money (we booked it as part of a package with British Airways). We were very comfortable and enjoyed staying there.
