I stayed at this hotel for a weekend at the end of November 2009. I paid 152 euros for a double room per night, with breakfast included in the price, via an internet travel agency. (The price must have been that high -although I shopped around a lot- because it was for a weekend, and the hotel was almost full). The hotel's location seemed good at first, but after walking around the Old City Centre, I realized that it was not ideal, as it was farther away from the centre and closer to the train station (although not that close) than what one would want. From the train station it is a 700-meter 5-euro taxi drive. The hotel is very nice inside: It has 2 PCs located next to the reception, where you can browse the internet free of charge, however there is no free wi-fi connection available, which I consider a big minus point, given the money you pay and the general quality of the hotel. There were cases that both PCs were taken, so you could not surf the internet anytime you wanted. Now, the room: We were given a room on the first floor that was not even a double room: It had two single beds that could not even be connected. The view from the window was not good (roofs and windows from other rooms) but the main problem was that the room was, by all standards, small. I don't know if that is a general case for all rooms, but the important thing is that when we complained about the single beds, we were not given any other room (although probably this was due to the fact that the hotel was fully booked - it was a weekend). The bathroom was very nice and clean, and you could make your own coffee or tea inside the room, free of charge. Downstairs, there were 2 restaurants available (one was a kellar and the other looked like it was a higher quality one) and a bar, all of them isolated from the rest of the hotel (they even had a dedicated entrance from the back of the hotel for non-residents). From all these, we visited the kellar, which was very uniquely decorated, the food was very good and the prices were very reasonable). The breakfast was very very good, (served in a separate area) and had everything one could wish for, including chocolate croissants, etc. The SPA area was not exactly that, as I was told, for example, from the reception that I could not book a massage because it was a Sunday (!). However, there was a sauna and a steam room available, along with a swimming pool, which were very relaxing to use after a full day's sightseeing. The fitness area was fine as well, with a few running machines available for use, along with some other gym equipment. To sum up, it is a very good hotel, and if I were to visit Salzburg again, I would put it on my list, but not on the top. I would first try to find a similar quality hotel closer to the Old City Centre and with larger rooms available. If you do book there, try to make sure the size of the room is not small, and you will enjoy your stay.
