“Lovely hotel, helpful staff”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

We had a lovely three nights at Hotel Rosenvilla. There were lots of options at breakfast so even our fussy tastes were catered to. The room had a lovely, large balcony but we loved Salzburg so much we spent our time in town and surrounds instead. The walk to the Old Town was fine but we were there in summer. It might be better taking the bus during winter.

We had bought tickets to the Austrian Grand Prix. They were not being mailed until after we had left Australia but Stefanie was happy to accept delivery of the tickets at the hotel. We greatly appreciated this extra level of service.

We booked a package with the Salzburg Card. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask for it when we checked in and the next day we decided that even though it would be more expensive to buy from the tourist information centre, we'd rather pay the extra than spend time going back to the hotel as we were only in Salzburg for a short stay. On check-out, we were not charged for the package but don't make the same mistake I did! Ask for the card on check-in as it is excellent value.

I booked this after the reviews on Trip Advisor, it is charming and very friendly. The rooms are all different, we had a suite which was a large room on the first floor, you go in through the bathroom to the bedroom, it was very comfortable and comfortable bed. There is a pretty garden/terrace where breakfast is served and you can sit and relax. The staff were so helpful and I would recommend buying the card for the bus and entry to all attractions. You do have to take the bus into the town, no 7 and runs quite regularly. You can also get a discount on shows and other things with the card. They have a an honesty bar and wonderful body lotion in the rooms that you can buy. Great value.

Room Tip: all rooms are quiet.

We stayed 3 nights in a classic double room (room 2). Large room with a modern bathroom but the other furnishings were a little quaint. Bed and pillows were disappointing. Breakfast was excellent and the manager Stephanie and her team were outstandingly helpful. It's an easy 20 minutes walk to the Old Town Centre and there is a bus only 100 metres from hotel (10 minutes trip). Excellent value and this charming hotel added to our Salzburg visit.

Stayed here a couple of years ago while traveling with family. Run by Austrian sisters. Very charming and very comfortable. All white bedding, soft and fresh. Comfortable patio and breakfast area. Very well stocked. Could not have been happier with accommodations.

Room Tip: All were comfortable. Windows left open at night (no screens) and no problem with bugs.

We stayed at the Rosenvilla for two nights in Salzburg and couldn't have been happier. Our room (we splurged on the Suite Exclusiv) was beautifully decorated, comfortable and quaint. The service was superb -- we booked months in advance and asked at that time to make sure a fan was placed in the room, and even that detail was remembered. And let me be the 1,000th person to rave about the breakfasts -- great breads, grains for muesli, cheeses, cold cuts, juices, sweet breads, cutely decorated soft boiled eggs with little hats, smoothies, local cheeses, local jams, sweet breads and our favorite: a slab of self-serve local honeycomb.

One tip would be that thus is probably best suited for you if, like us, you have a rental car because you intend on taking a day trip into the Alps or something. It's convenient to the city's public transit system if you don't have one, but parking lots in Salzburg are easy to find, so it's good to have a car with you that you can park for free at the hotel and then use for the short drive into the city center and also for a longer drive to somewhere like Hallstatt.

No gym facilities, but the neighborhood is beautiful and perfect for jogging, and you are very close to a nice park with paths and a trail along the beautiful river.

My husband & I splurged on a "double room deluxe" and what we got was room 9- the "executiv"
It was wonderful!
I actually would give this 4 1/2 stars if I could; and the only thing that keeps me from giving it the 5 is because the bathroom lighting- though charming & beautiful- wasn't as functional. Funny, I don't even notice stuff like mirror lighting, but since it rained the whole 2 days we were there, it was a little more difficult to see in order to apply my makeup for a great night out.

When we got to the hotel, we immediately noticed the charm. Everything was very intimate. It was exactly what we were looking for. And when we walked into the room,I noticed how spacious & elegant the dressing area was. Even the mini bar was arranged so nicely.

We walked in the light rain with our umbrellas to Old Town. It wasn't a bad walk, even in the rain. I would guess it was maybe 1.5 miles away. After we walked back to the hotel, a bottle of wine was the perfect complement to the rainy afternoon. It was too bad we couldn't take advantage of our covered patio. Though the cover shielded most of the rain, the ground was quite wet (not conducive to using the wonderful slippers provided) and the chairs got damp.
But the chaise lounge & a good book was a great alternative.

The bed(s) was very European and it was 2 singles put together. They were on one box, and that helped. Comfortable beds. Personable staff offered more pillows but I forgot to take advantage of that. We kept the window open throughout our stay. We never looked for any kind of AC; it was fine; but we did both get a little hot in the middle of the night.

The breakfast is a large & very European buffet. Oatmeal, yogurt, boiled eggs, lots of deli meats & soft cheeses. Presented in a lovely dining room which continues the intimate feel.

We would definitely look forward to coming back to Rosenvilla if ever a sunny day brings us back to Salzburg. It was one of the finest hotels we've stayed in!

Room Tip: The Executiv (room 9) has a covered balcony that overlooked the charming front.

Dear guests, thanks so much for your positive review. I am more than glad, that you enjoyed your stay in Salzburg. I am sorry, that you had troubles with finding the bathrooms lights. We do have an extra mirror lightning in the bathroom, but unfortunately it is a bit hidden. If you should stay with us again one time in the future, we will show you exactly how to find it!

Thanks again for staying with us!
Kind regards from Salzburg, Stefanie Fleischhaker

We recently spent a fabulous weeks holiday based at this hotel myself, husband, daughter and son-in-law. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, the rooms were beautiful fully equipped with everything you could possible need. It was spotlessly clean. The staff were so kind and friendly and helpful. This hotel has been the best we have ever stayed in we all agreed on this. The breakfast was outstanding with an incredible selection and elegantly presented.
We would love to return.

Room Tip: We had two rooms at the front of the hotel on ground floor which we could not fault
