“Brilliant Hotel in Salzburg”
Reviewed 28 September 2012

We stayed here for two nights in mid June 2012 and found the hotel was a fantastic place for exploring Salzburg and the area. The hotel is an older building, but appeared very well looked after and presentable. The rooms were spacious and had a charming decor. The only problem was the noise from a shop refurbishment downstairs, but the hotel had no control over this and was near completion anyway.

Parking for our cars were handled by the valets very well and with little fuss. We ate in the hotel restaurant on both nights. The first night was due to convenience and the second night due to a big thunderstorm. making it problematic to go outside. We weren't disappointed either night. Peter, the Maitre'd was great. He was very knowledgeable with suggestions about the appropriate wines for our meals and really looked after our group.

Overall. We would give a big thumbs up for this hotel.

Its difficult to add to the wonderful reviews this family owned and run Hotel right in the heart of one of Austria's most pretty towns. We asked the receptionist whether to take a taxi to visit the home of Mozart. No, she replied, its just opposite, 100 metres away. The river is 300 metres. Everything is at your fingertips.
The staff are welcoming and warm unusual amongst many Austrian who sadly come over to many as austier and aloof. The hotel is old and yet so attractive and well maintained with quirky areas which fascinate.
The food is first class and the evning dinners great value especially as residents get a great discount. Breakfasts are simply the best we did not need food again for 8 hours again included in the room rate.
Our room was ample quiet on the 4th floor with a small balcony overlooking the Square. The other side overlooked the stunning Mirrobell Gardens.

We cannot recommend this hotel more highly.

Right in front of bus stop along the main street. Wake up to church bells and bridge across to Old Town. Excellent services, spacious rooms and old world luxury. Mozart museum right at door step. Can't beat the location or services. Air conditioning in room (rarity in Europe) and heater in bathroom, heated towel bar. No English TV channel though.
Would definitely come back to hotel if in Salzburg.

Room Tip: Book early, they do upgrade your room.

So good to find a hotel of quality, and charm, within easy walking distance of the old town. The bedroom and en suite were spacious, beautifully furnished. Staff welcoming, and the food especially the breakfast could not be faulted.

5 star accomodation! Fantastic location, cross the bridge to Old Town. You can walk the entire town form this location. Amazing breakfast, everything you could want. Beautiful bathroom with a soaking tub! The view from our window was amazing especially at night! Air conditioning, what a treat and also drown out the sound of the church bells! We drove and had to park in a public car park but the hotel gave us a discount coupon and we paid only 15 euros a night. Staff exceptional and helped us with all our requests. It was our spluge hotel on this trip and well worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the front of the hotel.

This hotel is a gem. The whole place is beautifully decorated, and the rooms are unique. We stayed here with our 2 year old, and they could not have been kinder or more attentive to us. English is spoken throughout the hotel. The location is very central, and if you have kids, there is a massive park just behind the hotel for them to get some fresh air. The breakfast room is very traditionally decorated, but the service and food are top notch.
The only slight negative for us was that parking is off-site, but no great problem - Salzburg is a walking city anyway. The concierge(s) were a great help to us with parking and luggage - It was like they had been waiting just for us to turn up, and we were greeted like family. We would be happy to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a room with a view fronting the square but we heard no traffic noise at all.
