“A charming hotel walking distance from everything”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

The Bristol Hotel is a beautiful building, centrally located on the east side of the river walking distance to the old part of town, and is everything one would ever want in a hotel, if you can afford this price range. The lobby is lovely, the staff is welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful, and the rooms are comfortable, clean and provide samples of a wonderful lotion and shampoo. Get a room on an upper floor overlooking the plaza and the fortress. Breakfast is varied and delicious offering fruit, cheeses, meat, fish, eggs and Viennese treats. And don't miss the tasty apples and sweet chocolates periodically set out during the day. Take a half day tour of Salzburg, see where Mozart was born, and consider the Sound of Music tour if you love the movie.

We were very pleased with our recent three night stay at the Hotel Bristol. Upon checking in, we were escorted to our room by two employees and immediately felt welcomed. Our room was the smallest standard on the 4th floor, yet more than enough space for us. The daily breakfast offering was outstanding! The hotel is located a short walk to the old city, although be sure to see the new city sights close by, including the beautiful Mirabell gardens directly behind the hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

This is a lovely hotel situated in a great location for Salzburg sightseeing. Our Double Superior was huge, even by American standards, with a very large, spotlessly clean, bathroom.

Breakfast fare had more than enough variety and the staff would go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Only negative was that the wifi was very spotty.

If I return to Salzburg, I would definitely stay here again.

If you are a fan of old fashioned hotel with vintage furniture this is a place for you.
Staff were polite and helpful , breakfast was various and delicious and location was very good.
The only weakness I can remember might not be a weakness at all for many of you, and that is the fact this hotel is simply too "old". Rooms are not soundproof and the old wooden flooring was too noisy when you walk in the room or hallway . The hallway itself is the most beautiful hallway I have seen in a hotel though.

A very grand entrance and an old fashioned old hotel. The hotel makes you feel special.

We were upgraded and had a 4th floor room with a balcony and view of the castle. Couldn't fault the room, smart, well appointed and comfortable. Very pleased to have air con as it was very hot.

Very good buffet breakfast and we ate in the restaurant on 2 occasions for dinner, it was very good. Sat in the bar on several evenings and our drink were almost ready before we sat down, the barman remembered what we had drunk the night before.

The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Would stay here again if we are in Salzburg.

This is a family run hotel and the owner is on site. We found this was great because he watches everything. The hotel was very clean and run like a well oiled machine. We found our room was very comfortable with a wonderful view of the city. The staff was beyond compare. You just had to look and some one was there to help you. The staff at the front desk, especially Christine were everything you could ever want. Friendly, helpful and always smiling. I talked to the owner a few times in the dining room to tell him how impressed we were with the breakfast, dinner and the service. It is centrally located and with in walking distance of everything. We love being there .

Room Tip: Get a room on he upper floors in front. The view is wonderful

We recently spent 5 nights in Salzburg, 3 of which we spent at the Bristol Hotel. We should have spent all 5 nights there as it is perfectly located, very charming, clean, and provided a lovely breakfast each morning. The staff was friendly and helpful. If we are fortunate enough to return to Salzburg some day we will for certain stay at the Bristol, an elegant hotel in the most charming city!

Room Tip: We enjoyed our room at the front of the hotel overlooking the square.
