“Warm and welcoming staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

My lovely room would have been enough to make me enjoy my stay in Salzburg for the Festival. But the staff of the Bristol made the experience one of the best I have had as a woman traveling alone. They could not have been more gracious and helpful.

Five years in a row I have been coming here. The Bristol is a reliable, high quality hotel with lots of old European charm. It benefits from family ownership which is committed to uphold these values. In Salzburg, I would stay nowhere else. Well done!

This was probably our biggest hotel room of the trip and we got a very good rate considering the class of the hotel. It is located near tourist attractions like the Hofburg gardens and Mozart Museum, but not in the old city. You can walk across the river (which is nice), but in terms of restaurants, you definitely didn't feel like you were in the heart of things. Breakfast was very good (eat the croissants!) and staff was friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: elevators are tiny if you have a big group and lots of luggage - get a lower floor

This hotel was fantastic, boutique and cosy , we loved it , the service was great the breakfast was wonderful. The hotel was very well place and didn't feel like a corporate hotel where all the rooms looked the same , the rooms where in keeping with the town

This hotel has a great location- across the street from Mozart's house, and only a 5-10 minute walk to the Mirabell Palace/Gardens or St. Sebastian's Cemetery in the other direction. The cathedral and Residenz are about a 15 minute walk. The staff- from the doorman/bellman to reception and concierge- were all wonderful; the doorman was especially nice to provide us with umbrellas to walk the city; my only criticism is that the room was rather small and dated; but it is still nicer than the other Salzburg hotels in which I have stayed, including the Goldener Hirsch. It is important to note that the room doors are not self-locking; they must be locked manually each time the door is closed, whether inside or outside the room. We could not find a minibar in our room, despite being told that we had one. The breakfast buffet was well-stocked for a variety of tastes, and service at the restaurant was excellent.

Even though our double superior room on the third floor without a view or balcony was pricey (395 Euro each night) we loved our stay. It was a short taxi ride to and from the train station ($7.50 Euro) and the hotel location was ideal for touring Salzburg by foot. The hotel is right next to the Mirabell gardens and palace which was great for our daily walks through the gardens and for our Mirabell Palace festival concert experience in the lavish Marble Hall. Our room was extremely quiet, was spacious with a wonderful washroom and lots of closet space. The safety deposit box was small and the large bath towels were thin and needed updating. The WiFi was excellent as we used it for our iPods and iPads whenever we were in our room. The staff were warm and welcoming. The morning breakfast room was charming and included a scrumptious buffet with made to order eggs. I especially enjoyed the coffee served in silver with heated cups and heated milk. We were a five minute walk to the old town which meant crossing over a pedestrian bridge. We had no problem finding outdoor cafés for coffee or dinner - there is an abundance of good restaurants on this side of the bridge and in the old town. We spent three nights and did more than we had originally planned. We especially enjoyed our 4 hour Bob's Special Sound of Music intimate van tour. In summary, we were treated like royalty - hence the steep cost of the room. Staying at the Bristol enhanced our Salzburg experience.

This hotel did such a lovely job mixing the old charm of its building with modern amenities. We very much enjoyed our stay & the breakfasts each morning. A nice variety of choices to eat. The location is spectacular right by a bridge on the river. We walked everywhere! The concierge gave perfect recommendations also. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
